That’s why I always keep my million dollar car in the garage. Start it up every Sunday at church time and pull it back in 10 minutes later. I save a lot of aggravation not worrying about wrecks and I save on insurance too. No sense watching a million bucks go up in flames and wondering if I have enough coverage.

And a Ferrari driver with no common sense? Any farm kid knows that dry organic material and hot brakes, catalytic converters, etc., don't mix.

I wonder if the Ferrari driver got permission from the owner of the field to tresspass on that property?

How and why does this young, brilliant Texan have the $ for a Ferrari? Is Cody for real, or a cartoon character?
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it:
"We should have learned from the cop car!"

    "I want my scooter!"
I love all the references to insurance, or lack thereof.

Okay, googled it/him. And, now I'm sad...
"With a net worth of about $5 million, Detwiler revealed that he was not concerned that the car burned and that he would replace it with another Ferrari."

For anyone that believes that it is a just world, unfortunately, this is a shining example of that fallacy.

And, Driver100, note that neither of those bonfires were EVs!

We went and watched Paul Skenes, the 1st pick of the 2023 MLB draft, pitch for the AA Altoona Curve last night. I didn't see him go over 100mph, but he was consistently in the high 90's and many were clocked at 99. He didn't do very well; only lasting 2/3 of an inning. Probably nervous.

His girlfriend, Olivia Dunne, was there too:

I think I know who you mean, but in reality, there are so, so many of them, all of whom are best avoided.

One troubling thing is that on my Apple devices at least, when you go to Google to search something, what you see on the page below are almost all clickbait links with the ever-popular titles of:

    - "whatever happened to [random semi-celebrity to whom nothing has actually happened]"
    - "this secret trick will... [not a secret and not a trick]"
    - "the sad truth about [another semi-random celeb to whom nothing sad has occurred]"
    - random YT video links with a totally deceptive title card depicting something that has nothing much to do with the connected video.

I dunno what's worse: Google selling out to these things so much, or so many people being naive enough to make it profitable for the creators.

Well the Pirates aren’t what’s known as an exemplary organization. So the jury is still out with Skeens who was the first overall draft pick this year. A couple years ago the Pirates drafted a catcher (Henry Davis) with the first overall draft pick. That guy has not caught a game yet in the majors. They are playing him in right field and so far he looks like a pony leaguer trying to field balls although he seems to have a pretty good arm. However, an arm is no good if you can’t get to the ball. Kinda like the old baseball saying about speed…”you can’t steal first base”. And so it goes.

Like I said we’re talking about the Pirates. I don’t really care anymore. Nothing they do surprises me, I just laugh.

OK we went to Michigan this weekend and getting there we took I-94 through Indiana. Now I-94 goes 46 miles through Indiana and in that 46 miles I had to swerve out of my lane for 1.) one of those orange traffic barrels 2.) a tire (whole tire) and 3.) a ladder. Well that works out to one road obstacle every 15 miles. What's going on in Indiana?

Had an interesting conversation with the Honda sales person who sold me my last two Accords. I was in the parts dept getting some touch up paint for a teeny-tiny door edge chip.

Interestingly, I’ve bought 2 cars from him in 24 months. Can’t remember my name, but OK.

-“Hey man…how you doing? Ready to trade your Accord?”
-“Depends…I’m getting some parts for it. If you pay for my parts, I’ll trade it on a new one”.
-“Oh wow…that would come out of my own pocket. What parts are you getting?”
-“You’ll have to take a chance. If you give me what I paid for it, I’ll trade it right now.”
-“Where’s your car? Did you wreck it?’”

At this point, he didn’t even know my car was sitting right next to him in the service dept.

    -“it’s not wrecked”.
-“nah…..I don’t want to do that”

He left me. I Got the touch up paint. He saw me at the cashier. Saw my bill….$21. I told him that since I had bought the equivalent of about $75K in cars over the last 24 months he should at least pick up the cost of the touch up paint. He just walked away.

I mentioned my mom's passing last week - the planning for the final arrangements are underway, and a vehicle related question has come up.

My sister wants to buy out my half of my mom's car, and she's left it to me to establish a fair valuation of it.

As a reminder - 2003 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6, burgundy over tan cloth, roughly 55,000 miles on it. All maintenance has been kept up, and my sister recently had the timing belt and water pump replaced.

I could run it through the usual sites, but I suspect I won't get a decent number on it due to the age.

Not necessarily asking you to give me a valuation, but some ideas of what I could do to get one.

I was just at Sam's Club. I parked next to a handicap space and there was one space to the cart corral. It wasn't busy and there were a lot of empty spots.

I was sitting in the car, between the lines, reading a text message and some guy in a beat-up old SUV had to squeeze in next to me.

That’s one of those cars that book value doesn’t mean much. Throw it up for $7K and take the best offer.

Someone will gladly pay 5K for that as a dependable DD or teen car.
