I still wouldn’t buy one because my experience with things that are said to do more than one thing well, don’t. That is until they invented the multi tool. I swear you could build a house with that thing doing all of the wood cutting. I think we are on our 3rd one, even have a cordless one. They can’t be beat.

I was working at a total joint surgery center on the south side of Indy when we had visitors from U Pittsburg looking to start a similar surgery center.

I wonder how they are going to hire staff that don’t have the “shift mentality “ meaning that they do as little as possible during their shift and pass the rest on to the next shift. We have only one shift and we work until we are done. That will be an interesting proposition in a university setting.

and more decentralized generation stations. Mostly solar on houses for personal use, and commercial buildings (like those huge distribution warehouses) to generate what they need and pump the excess back into the grid.

Interesting.. ours is GE Profile.

Otherwise, I don't understand how there was no paint or metal damage.

If you are talking the advantage of a convection oven compared to a regular oven it is about 25% faster.
Or, for smaller dishes an air fryer can cook food faster than a regular oven.
You can use your air fryer to cook recipes that have instructions for cooking in the oven. Because the heat in the air fryer is more intense than a standard oven, reduce the suggested temperature by 25ºF to 50ºF and cut the time by roughly 20%.

I always said that if the government was really serious about solar they would mandate solar panels on all flat roof big box stores and warehouses. Next time you’re heading east on freebie I-90 in Schodack look over at the million sq. ft. Amazon building and tell me that wouldn’t be a better location for panels than tearing up some farm.

What's the hurry?

The rule in our home is all meals should be prepared in under 15 minutes, 20 for something special.
There's nothing wrong with fast, air fryers can enhance the taste of many foods....sealing in flavors.

I think most of the farms that have solar have fallen into disuse, because they can't make enough from crops.

They are studying solar panel farms in Ohio, where farmers would still be able to raise crops, even with the panels there. Hopefully, that works out.

I agree.. rooftops seem like an unused resource.

I've never updated the NAV system in the Outback (circa 2015). Since our house was built in 2016, the icon is in the middle of an empty field when I'm parked at home.

Our local kitchen place sells/installs a line from a company near Coshocton, OH (about three hours away)

They are painted maple, and the color is Egret (Sherwin Williams)

The granite is not rare.. it goes by "Fantasy Brown", and you'll find it a lot of places, but being natural, it looks a little different with each batch.

The tile is glass.

When we built the house in 1998, the kitchen designer and I came up with the cornered wall. It isn't particularly space efficient. It's just 2X4s and dry wall put in after the main framing. My current contractor and tile guy both said they did a crappy job on it... lol.

I know there are better navigation units out there. The detail displayed on the unit in the Passat, which I know wasn't cutting edge in 18 is so much better than that displayed in the 06 TL. I don't use the routing feature much but it is pretty good even today. It has Android Auto, too, so all good. I do rely on the traffic updates from XM to guide me on my 40 mile commute to and from


work. On my way home I scan both I85 and 485 to see if it is in green. If red I find another route. The display is very clear, sun glare didn't make for a good pic.

our street was extended before we got here into open space where they are building another neighborhood. That has been getting built for at least going on 3 years at this point I think. When I drive up it the Acura thinks I am off road, which is not a big shock since I think that may have been updated some time in 2020 but not since.

what surprises me is the Maverick, built 4/2023, also has no clue that this road exists!

nice kitchen. Since we are about to design a new one we will be making these decisions soon. Likely will end up with similar cabinet color and design. And an oven set-up like that (regular oven on the bottom, Microwave above it).

@sda, How do you take pictures of your GPS when you are driving?

Do cars even still come with NAV systems since most phones have better capabilities these days. I still see them in some of the big Fords but wonder why.

Yes they do. I like having it. I normally just keep my phone in my pocket and don’t want to have to take it out to plug in and fire up google maps all the time. I only do that if I want to navigate someplace.

But I love just having the map on the screen to check where a cross street is or see what road I am on. Stuff like that. Or how close to a store. Plus I like how it looks! I also like having the radio built in, but by your logic, they could do away with that too, right? And just have a plain little monitor with no functionality built in? Which is probably what some makers are going for.

One friend has a 2023 Dodge mini-van, whatever they call them these days. It has a much better GPS than in my 2017 E400. It tells you if there are red light cameras or police cars ahead etc.
The GPS in the E400 has a hard time understanding the English language at times:
ME: 4-0-8 Dixon Road Brampton.
GPS: 5364 Bayview Avenue, Cambridge. Should I start route guidance?
Me: No, that's not what I asked for, but remember that address, I may want to go there next week!

My Accord has NAV but it’s tied into Google Assistant, using Google Maps and Voice. I don’t use it much, preferring Waze combined with wireless Apple Car Play, which works extremely well.

I don’t use much of anything else but Waze these days. I’m very used it and have tweaked all the settings that work for me.

Wireless CarPlay is a dream. Wish the wife’s Volvo had it. Hate to plug in all the time

As a rule my phone stays in my pocket. If a phone conversation is needed I use Bluetooth. I try to minimize any phone interactions and prefer to listen to music or other programs on XM.

Very nice looking kitchen.

That hood looks mighty familiar, lights and all. We put a hood like that in our 3rd flip. Was a special order from Home Depot. The cabinets and handles look pretty familiar too but I’m sure your cabinets are a higher quality.

We even put in a contrasting color for the island cabinets but we used gray to match the kitchen walls and that’s a nice size island too. Ours was 8 feet and my son was thinking of putting in a 10 footer (the kitchen was very big) but I convinced him that most folks don’t want to go for a walk when their in their kitchen, so he backed off of that idea. We also used a single bowl sink. I think they call it a farmers sink, it’s fairly deep. My son has that in his house and since his wife thinks it’s great we’ve decided to use that style in all of our flips. I also see you have an air switch for the disposal, we haven’t done that yet but we’ve thought about it.

BTW, don’t worry about what @Michaell said about eating out. Since I’m sure your wife likes her new kitchen so much it would be a real shame to let her out of it too much by going out to eat.

I think I told this story once before.

A couple years ago I saw guy weaving in and out of traffic on a 2 lane road. I was in the left lane. When I saw him, about 4 cars in front of me in the right lane, jump into the left lane just as a car in the left lane almost stopped to make a quick left turn (yes, that guy was a dope too), I moved over quickly into the right lane so I wouldn’t be hit by the tailgater behind me. I guess I bumped the voice button on the steering wheel while I said something like, “you dumb s*it”. The nav system responded with “please repeat command”. Since I don’t talk to my car, I just turned the nav system off.
