@sb55 neighborhood (Vermont) has been seeing some heavy rainfall, with more to come. Hope all is well with...

Mainly just showers in southern VT as of this afternoon. No where near the records in Wilmington.

The town of my ski youth. Began skiing at Haystack and Mt. Snow. Fond, distant memories of staying at the Old Red Mill Inn, a mechanical ski game in the lobby.
My parents returned later in life as snowbirds to Wilmington; they loved it.

    A friend got his wife a Cadillac Lyriq EV a few months ago. I will abbreviate the story or it will become like a JMonroe novel;
He gets a call from the dealer that he must bring his car in for service. He says he can do it next week. They say they want him to bring it in that day. They do 10 tests on it. They tell him they have to keep it for 5 weeks, they have to change the battery. He says can't he use it until the battery arrives from Detroit?
They say no, they have to park it in a field....can't be inside or near anything (we are thinking it could explode).
They will give him a car to use. He complains and asks to get the battery right away.
The battery is worth $20000...., since he insisted and went higher up they ship it a lot sooner. They say it will take 2 more weeks to install it, the car weighs too much for the lifts...they need a truck lift because the car weighs so much.
The lifts are being used so he takes it to another dealer to have the new battery installed.
They do it all and it takes 3 weeks total.
Not a problem I would want to deal with. It doesn't sound like GM to be that cooperative, however, they probably don't want too much publicity about this problem.

A rare occurrence. And I’m sure plenty of people have anecdotes about new cars having problems and being laid up for a long time waiting for some parts.

BMW has had recalls where you were told. It to park in the garage. And they were not the only brand.

Took my Explorer in yesterday for oil change/tire rotation and a software update.
The radio and nav maps were acting kind of flaky.
Dropped it off at 9am and called at 4pm for a status check.
Was told that the tech was just wrapping up and I would get a call when complete.
Got the call today at noon today.
I have one TPMS that reads a pound high and that moved. Also, map and radio seem to be ok now.
Only bad thing is, the Ford Pass app got disconnected.
It took me 10 days to reconnect it when I did a Master Reset a few weeks ago.

In CA if a company asks you to park a newish car for more than 30 days it's an automatic Lemon.

I have a friend who had to live a year without any of the infotainment systems, including nav, on her new Subaru because of a parts shortage. Have not heard of anyone else having this issue, so I assume just bad luck.

My mother in law has a 2024 Crosstrek she bought new about a year ago. She’s had a few issues with the eyesight system - she’ll be driving along and the dash lights up like a Christmas tree that a bunch of the active safety systems aren’t working. It was “fixed” once, but a few other times she drove away from the dealer and the lights came back on after 2 blocks. The most recent visit, the dash lights lit up and she brought it to the dealer and they shut off. The dealer asked her very condescendingly if she was SURE the dash lights were on? I think she’s contacted a lemon law attorney.

I'm part of an Outback group on FB, and this seems to be a common problem with the latest generation - not sure that folks believe it's specifically Eyesight related, but the "Christmas tree" of warning lights on the dash are common, it seems.

@oldfarmer50 In the video it seems Fords have a serious problem where the engine dies at a bad time. Ford says the car isn't safe to drive, but a part won't be available to fix it for about a year.

That sounds like the time for lemon laws or for a law suit. What good is a $50000 car if you can't even drive it.
Lights lighting up and certain features not working is bad enough, but you can't even drive a car you bought for one year......there should be laws to protect the consumer in this case.

Perhaps next time that happens have her take a picture or short video of it. That helped me show a technician how our garage door was randomly acting up and would fail in mid travel or not respond at all.

Over on some Mazda sites there is no shortage of posts about owners of the new CX-90 having all sorts of problems, many of them due to safety nanny features or electronic controls misbehaving at inopportune moments and rendering the car undriveable. They apparently have had a number of lemon law cases go against Mazda with another of other instances where Mazda kicked in some money to take the defective one back and provide a replacement vehicle. Their lack of proper product development prior to releasing it for sale is quite astounding.

    @ab348.
She is visiting because the kids and grandkids didn't have power due to the tornado's.
Gets pretty nervous when they are not around.
Wanders around the house during the night.
Last night, I ran her around the yard in the dark and she slept pretty much all night.
She was expecting the same thing tonight and I'm hoping she will sleep through the night again.
Tomorrow night she will be back home as power has been restored where they live.
Grandkids are asleep and their parents should be back from a wedding reception shortly.

Was able to reconnect the Ford Pass app today. Tried it yesterday but it took until this morning up reconnect.
Also, oil life was not reset. I went through the center screen options but couldn't find reset there.
Turns out it is done using the steering wheel controls. Pretty easy.

Today I got busy and shampooed the seats in the truck. The previous owner was a smoker and I had to run the ozone machine 4 times to get that smell out. I figured the cloth seats held some secrets as well.

As I suspected, just a quick shampoo with hardly any scrubbing resulted in water that looked like a dredging from the Mississippi. The seats didn’t look that dirty before but I’m glad I got that nastiness out. I might give it another cleaning in the future.

Agreed. My Malibu and Cruze both have digital readout. So did my 2008 Cobalt.
I guess the downside is that means there's a pressure sensor with a battery inside the
tire on the valve stem. That battery goes dead and tire places charge ridiculously high
    to replace it.

I suspect the cars without a battery-powered transmitter use what my 2003 leSabre had. It monitors the wheel rotations rates and if one increases that means the pressure is lower in that tire. I believe it compared with the rotation speed of the other tire on that axle. Also the leSabre had 3 different speed ranges for the comparisons.

I think Discount Tire has charged about $65 when I've needed TPMS sensors replaced in the past. And they did a free relearn on my Prius when I'd had two sensors replaced and something decided to unpair and trigger the light a few months later.

If one goes due to old age and dead batteries, you might as well replace all 4. I got a set of original GM ones from Rock Auto for very short money. It's not much different for the tire shop than replacing a valve stem.

That sort of thing is what some automakers are starting to charge for after a few years. I know Mazda has been getting heavily criticized for announcing that their Mazda Connect app will no longer be free to use after 3 years from new. If you don't pay, those services go away.

    I agree 100%.

The first time I had to deal with TPMS was with the TSX ('08), which shows the pressure for each wheel. Silly me, I thought that was how they all did it. When I came into possession of our Forester ('17) I was moderately stunned to learn that they had met the letter of the law (remember the Exploders & Firestone?) by coming up with a system that said: "you've got a low tire -- have a nice day." There are a lot of little things that I've become accustomed to over the past 16 years (holy s***) on the Acura, and this is one of them. If it got totaled tomorrow (assuming I didn't) I have no idea what I'd get to replace it.
