    Having a proprietary app really sucks on a rental car, though.

    I was avoiding it. Hybrids have some issues with deep sleeping the 12v and the app seems to be an issue because it keeps the truck awake talking to the mother ship or something.

    I agree 100%.

    The first time I had to deal with TPMS was with the TSX ('08), which shows the pressure for each wheel. Silly me, I thought that was how they all did it. When I came into possession of our Forester ('17) I was moderately stunned to learn that they had met the letter of the law (remember the Exploders & Firestone?) by coming up with a system that said: "you've got a low tire -- have a nice day." There are a lot of little things that I've become accustomed to over the past 16 years (holy s***) on the Acura, and this is one of them. If it got totaled tomorrow (assuming I didn't) I have no idea what I'd get to replace it.

    The Mustang has individual tire pressures, the Kia only has the light so you have to hunt, same with the F-150. The Sebring is too old to have that system despite being the top trim.

    All of them are moot since I frequently check pressure manually.

    That’s where a tpms that shows which tire is low would come in handy. Frequently, I jump in a car and the light is on but doesn’t indicate which tire is low. It’s no fun running around in the dark, snow whistling in your face, kicking tires.😟

    I generally dislike nanny’s. Both of our cars have quite a few of them which are cute but I don’t trust some of them. Especially the blind spot warning system. When the day comes that I have to rely on that system, that’s the day I turn in my license. Now, the back up camera is pretty nice but I can’t tell you how long it took me to actually use it on my first Genny in ‘09. I kept forgetting I had it even though it was right in front of me.

    Driving too many years looking at mirrors will do that to you. I’d rather say that than admit I’m getting older. :'(

    FWIW, I do like the individual tire pressure indicating system.

    Blind spot and rear cross path is a fantastic invention IMO. I would not buy a new car without it. A huge safety feature. And yes I use my mirrors constantly.

    Back up camera, that is essential especially with how bad rear visibility is on modern cars.

    500+ pounds off the cart and into the Subaru.
    300+ pounds out of the Subaru and onto the front yard.

    I’m a bad one to ask about those. They’re too expensive for me. If you were ever in the Navy and could get a good nights sleep on those bunks you could sleep on anything. They spoiled me. I could probably sleep on a rock as long as it had a fitted sheet. Even I gotta have some creature comforts.

    That’s not bad as long as they stay there. Landscaping ain’t my forte, I gladly spend money to have that stuff done. I’ll blame my Mom for that, she used to yell at me to, “GET OUT OF THE DIRT”. I did listen to some things she told me.

    I’m a fan of the hybrid mattress. It’s memory foam over a coil spring interior. Ours has held up incredibly well.

    It’s flippable, as well. (Unlike pillow top mattresses)

    MrsD100 has been painting things again. They had bright yellow plastic on the telephone wires that hold up the pole. MrsD100 thought they were ugly, so painted them;

    She also didn't like the black downspout boot at the bottom:

    @ab348.
    I view the app as a convenience, not a requirement.

    I view it as completely superfluous. First, anything that requires a smartphone to access I consider elitist and secondly, I get all that information on the dash display of my Mustang and the stack of receipts in the glove box. As to location, if I don’t know where my car is without an app, I’m probably going senile and shouldn’t drive.
    I just had to download an app and make 2 accounts at two sites to get a Padre ticket for tonight from my employer, and it's not my employers fault, but MLB and Ticketmaster. Both Apps get an F- grade.

    Speaking of which, AI can't come soon enough. The thing that needs AI the most is computer programs, software, apps, and code, to make it more user-friendly and better at actually working and syncing.

    I haven't been impressed by software engineers since the days of making great Nintendo cartridges play great video games.

    I know here in the states you’re not supposed to touch anything belonging to utilities, no matter what shape something may be in.

    A little tale about that:

    When I lived in my first house a guy who lived on the main street that lead to all other streets in our development had one of those electrical support posts, like Mrs. @driver100 painted, on the skinny side of his lot. Since that street is on hill, a driver slid into it one snow covered morning and mangled it somewhat. He called the electric company and they said they’d send someone out to look at it. He happened to be shoveling his driveway the next day when they showed up. They told him since the pole was in good shape and there was no fear of it falling, even told him they might remove the helper support altogether, but because of the weather they’d get to it when the weather permitted.

    When Spring came and no one showed up he called them and was told, “it’s on our list to be looked at again”. After hearing that a couple more times with nothing being done and Summer now in full season, he decided to take out the slack in the cable so he could maneuver his lawn mower closer to the cable so it didn’t catch on his mower. Just his luck an electric company truck was passing by and chewed him out for touching their property and went so far as to rat him out by filing a report. In a couple days he got a letter informing him they were going to determine whether they should shut off his power. He actually got a letter a week later informing him they decided to shut off his power in 2 weeks and gave him the shut off date. He was furious and called them telling them when they want to do something they knew how to do it quickly. More or less he was told they know how to handle their business so get ready for the shut off.

    Not knowing what to do he mentioned it to his neighbor who told him to contact so and so who lived in our development and who was also on the borough council. That squelched the shut off but they never did repair/remove that support as long as I lived there which had to be at least another 10 years.

    Mrs. @driver100 better hope she didn’t leave a dripped paint trail back to their house. But maybe Canadian utilities don’t care about such things.

    Actually, the advice is good. The plastic covers are Electric Company property, so they could charge us for replacing them. It might even be vandalism.
    They fall off after about 2 months, then the wires are exposed for about 3 months, and then they come around and put up new ones again and last another 2 months.
    Anyway, good comments, I'll talk to MrsD100, I think she got carried away with her painting.
    Thanks everyone for the comments.......the plastic covers look better painted, but there is probably a reason they are bright yellow.

    I have driven in older areas where there are row houses and people store the garbage cans in front of their house. I was thinking a good camouflage idea would to make boulders out of rubber or something light, and you hide the cans inside the big rock :)

    I think you should paint the house yellow to match the hydrant. Grey is an old man’s color.🤪
    Can't do that. My neighbor across the street's house is yellow.
