NY residents can lease at BMW dealers in NJ or CT and use MSDs but the lease must be signed in NJ.

Thanks! What's a buildout credit mean in BMW terms? Money towards down payment, or cost of car?

Has to be used as a CAP reduction (so you get taxed on it).

So you mean it would be reduced from the agreed price? So if msrp is 55,000, agreed selling price is 48,000, 2000 buildout credit, so final price is 46k?

Dealer's typically quote you a price with all incentives included.

Here are the details of the deal I am getting on a 2015 5.28 Xi, Space Gray with Cinnamon Interior that has the Premium Package, Driver Assistance Package & Cold Weather Package MSRP of $59,100.

    Lease offer in CT
    Sale Price = $52,963
I think the MF for the lease is 0.00130
I plan to use the max of 7 months MSD ( Paying 7 months of payment in advance ) Reduces lease MF by 0.0007 (or 0.49 %)
    Residual is 63%
    10K miles a year.
Monthly Lease with Tax = $549
    Upfront Payments are
    Acquisition Fees = $925
    DMV = $200
    Documentation Fees = $599
    Total = $1724
    Total Tax = $133.61
    Total Payment = $1857.61
    +
    First Month Payment = $549
    +
    Fully Refundable 7 Months MSD = (7*549 = $3843)

How is the above lease deal?

Finally I am also torn if I should buy the car as they are willing to sell the car for $52,000 + $4,030 sales Tax 7.75% + $200 DMV (Total Out the Door = $56,230) at 1.9 % for 36 months.

Any comments on the deal would be much appreciated.

not a bad deal, but isnt it was easier to buy it at a public car auction? I’m a fan of BMW and actively follow their model range and pricing. I want to say that it makes sense to look at the auctions. For example, the resource https://1bid1.com/search?category=1 I saw an excellent fifth BMW models with a very attractive price. Not surprisingly that it was sold in a few days.

I'm getting the same payment. If you are comfortable with the selling price, looks like a solid deal. The MSDs certainly help with the payment - however, each MSD is $550, not $549. BMW rounds the MSD up to the next highest $50

Ok guys I need some opinion on which you guys think is the best deal between the two cars. Two different car classes, different segments I get it. Just trying to understand which is a better deal over all.

    328dx
    MSRP 53,250
Gross cap cost: 47512 (includes taxes (NJ luxury tax), dmv fees, doc fees, acq fee)
    MF: 0.00081
    Monthly $475 (including 7% tax).

Total due : MSDs + First Month's payment. 0 Down.

    535dx
    MSRP 70200
Gross Cap Cost: 61095.67 (includes taxes (NJ luxury tax), dmv fees, doc fees, acq fee).
    MF. .00081
    Monthly 650 including Tax 7%.

Total due : MSDs + First Month's payment. 0 Down.

36/12 lease term for both 2015 models.

Thanks! I am not sure what else they are marking up. Something isn't adding up. When I looked at the lease work up the NET CAP COST was HIGHER than Gross, which didn't make any sense. Do we know any reasons when that can happen? I will have to dig more in to this.

Overall which is a better value? (being series agnostic)

Given that the MF and residuals are almost equal, the 5-series seems a better deal since you are getting 13% off sticker, as opposed to 11% off the 3-series.

Could someone help me out with the rates for a 2016 550 xi in New England? The dealer is quoting me 57% residual for 15k and 59% for 12k with a .00170 MF (36 mos). Definitely doesn't feel right.

MF is marked up ... .00130 is the base rate. I confirm the residuals for 36/15 and 36/12.

Helping a friend that is looking at a new lease for a 2015 550i 155E, 3 years and 10k per year, Houston TX. What are the current residual and MF for leases.

Is it typical that later year models have lower residuals? I would have thought that the 2016 would hold higher residual than a 2015 leased right now.

Logically, yes, the newer model year should have a higher residual.

However, BMW is setting higher residual on the 2015's to make them more attractive to lease and help move inventory from the dealers lot.

I'm in a market for a well equipped 2 series but now that 2015s 5 series have great residuals and they come with navigation in base price, it might make sense to lease the 5 series. Can you help me compare?

    .00081 MF and 60% residual

    2015 228i 24mo and 36mo/10k with max MSDs
.00081 MF and 61% residual. $500 buildout cash
    2016 228i 24mo and 36mo/10k with max MSDs
    .00081 MF and 57% residual

All numbers expire at close of business, today.
So 24mo and 36mo have exactly same residuals and MFs?
Sorry... add 6% to any number for 24 month residual

Perfect, thanks. One more thing -- when October numbers are not available yet (like in this case), and someone walks in to buy a car, does he dealer work with the September numbers (latest available), or what MF/residual would they apply?

The dealers have the October numbers .... we don't

    i got them. 535dx north east .00134 MF (.00085 with 7 MSDs) non-marked up. and .62 residual for a 12k lease.

I am wondering if they are going to put out any additional incentives to make up for the marked up MF.

Helping a friend that is looking at a new lease for a 2015 550i 155E, 3 years and 10k per year, Houston TX. What are the current residual and MF for leases.

What about the same information for the 2016's?

Not sure what the "155E" means... but,

.00130 MF and 63% residual. $2000 buildout cash.

    2016: .00130 MF and 60% residual

    To clarify....

    2015 550i 36/10k = .00130 MF and 63% residual + $2000 buildout cash
    2016 550i 36/10k = .00130 MF and 60% residual

Is it typical that later year models have lower residuals? I would have thought that the 2016 would hold higher residual than a 2015 leased right now.
Logically, yes, the newer model year should have a higher residual.

However, BMW is setting higher residual on the 2015's to make them more attractive to lease and help move inventory from the dealers lot.
The dealership is saying that the MF is .0017 and the residual is 62% on 2015's..... Is this right for a 550i in Houston right now?

    I confirm the 62% residual for 36/12 on the 2015 550i.

The base MF, however, is .00134 this month, with $2000 option credit.

What do you calculate for the monthly rate for the following 2015 535i at 36/12 and 36/15?

    Net Cap Cost: $61,030
Base MF & Purchasing all 7 MSDs
    Texas Sales Tax
Trade in value $10,500 applied against tax

Where can I find a good spreadsheet to plug in values?
