Hi! Need help with a new 2015 Audi Q5 premium plus with technology package lease. In SF. Offering 36 months/7500 miles at .00190 MF, residual 56%. Payments are $658 with 3000 down.

MSRP 48, 455 Final sale $45,688.68 with doc fee, tax and non tax fees. after 3 years residual $27,134.

Is this a good deal? I feel like MF high and annual mileage low.
    Thanks!

    Which engine?

MF is absolutely marked up on you ... for the Q5 Prem Plus, the base MF is between .00096 and .00105. You can ask for more miles (15K is standard, and residual is 4% less than for 7500 miles).

Also, we don't recommend making a down payment on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

Thanks! It is a 2.0 engine. do I need to focus on cap costs as well? also I was thinking down payment that are fees would make sense- so I don't pay interest on it in my lease. is that the right way to think about it?

Correct numbers are .00105 MF and 56% residual. That's a massive markup in the money factor. The 7500K/yr mileage allowance is just to make the vehicle look less expensive. You choose the mileage allowance.. Of course, higher allowances result in lower residuals.

NON-taxable fees should be paid upfront, to avoid putting them in a payment and having them taxed. Everything else should go in the lease. The amount of finance charges on additional items is so small, you shouldn't worry about it. Well, maybe not if they are marking up the MF by this much.. You have a lot of negotiating to do.

Thanks!! what is a fair sale price nowadays for a 2015 Audi Q5 2.0 Premium plus with tech package? They gave me $45688. I would think with 2016 coming out soon I could do better?

I've never leased before and I'm interested in a Q5 Premium Plus with tech package. As a newbie I have a few questions:

    - Do Money Factor (MF) rates depend on your credit score, or are they pre-determined based on the vehicle?
    - Is it possible to use a credit card for the first (down) payment on a lease, or does it have to be cash/debit?
    - Is it considered 'bad manners' to go to a dealer, get a lease offer on paper with all the numbers, and then go home to think about it (i.e. post it here to make sure I get a good deal)?
    - What is your opinion on this 'lease special' on the Q5 that ends on JUNE 30th?:

2015 Audi Q5 TDI Premium Plus Lease: $515 A Month*, 36 Months, $2,245 Due At Signing. (Excludes Taxes, Title, Options, & Dealer Charges.) No Security Deposit Required. Includes A $750 Summer Of Audi Bonus For Qualified Customers Who Lease Through AFS.**

Acquisition fee of $695 included in amount due at signing. Monthly payments total $18,526. Requires dealer contribution which could affect final negotiated transaction. Dealer sets actual prices. Generally, 6% off MSRP is a good number to shoot for on an Audi

There is a base money factor for each model and lease term, that is set for top tier credit. If you have less than top tier credit, there are higher rates, with them going up, as your credit score goes down. Also, Audi dealers can mark up those rates for extra profit.

Most dealers will take credit cards, but only up to a certain amount ($1000-$3000, usually).

I try to use good manners, everywhere.. Taking a day to think about the deal is not bad manners. But, don't say, "I'll take it, if you give me this number", then say you have to think about it.

That's not a bad lease.. The Q5 program isn't outstanding, but the advertised deal is decent.. just be aware that dealers don't have to give you that deal.

I don't have top tier credit, most likely Tier 2 (690-ish), with a very good debt-to-income ratio (2%) and no significant debt. Do you know how much the base top tier MF of .00105 would go up (approximately)? I'm trying to figure out what is an acceptable money factor for my situation so I know I won't get marked up too much.

I wouldn't assume that you won't qualify for the best MF, but if you are one tier down, it's .00040 extra

Excellent, thanks! One more question if you don't mind...

There are only two Audi dealerships in my area. What is the best strategy to get a good lease deal, visit in person and negotiate with the finance manager(s)? Or call/email both dealerships and ask for a lease offer on my desired vehicle/package before even setting foot in the dealerships?

I couldn't say... what works for one person or one dealership, might not work for another.. I'm not an expert on negotiating, by any means.

I'm having trouble finding exactly what I'm looking for. Basically one has been found, minus the interior I want (the one found has a $1,500 add-on which obviously increases the monthly payment). So I'm wondering the following:

    1. Do you know when the 2016 #s will be available?
    2. Typically when the newer MY are coming in, how do the lease numbers change. For the 2016, do Residuals go up and MF typically stay the same?

Trying to decide to suck up the 2015 with the more expensive interior or wait it out. Thanks.
  • razorrrazorr Member Posts: 50
Word is 3rd week of July when 2016s start coming in.

2016 residual is higher (I was told expect 62-63) and money factor is higher. Discount is lower of course.  The best I was able to do in DC area is 8% discount with base MF on an SQ5. Q5 discounts would be higher for 2015s.

Thank you @razorr , I appreciate the feedback. I'm at 8% with my current deal it's just those darn $1,500 fine nappa seats that a stickler. I guess I will talk to my Wife and see what she wants to do. Thanks again.

Are the fancy seats on the window sticker? If so, you're looking at 55-57% of that cost (residualized) over 36 months, or about $23/mo.

A dealer near me is selling this Q5:

    2015 Audi Q5 2.0T Premium Plus
    + Mythos Metallic Black paint
    + Technology package
    + 19" 5-arm star wheels
+ Bang & Olufsen Sound System
    + Tow hitch w/side assist
    + Audi guard protection kit

    MSRP: $50,020
Sale Price: $46,785 (which is 6.5% below MSRP)

According to TrueCar, invoice price for this configuration is $47,685, so this quoted price is already $900 under invoice. On top of that, there is a $750 lease incentive from Audi Financial this month. What do you think? It seems like a good sale price, and perhaps even better after some negotiating.

Yes they are. So yes, it would be an additional ~$23/MO. While the monthly wouldn't kill me, over the life of the lease $826 is a lot of moolah for something I don't really care about.

    Hi,

Can you help me with these numbers, not sure if they are right for a 2015 Q5 Premium 2.0T -

    MSRP: $40,225.
    Selling price/cap cost: $37,500
    Rebates: $1750
    Acquisition/title/tax/dealer fees: I assume around $1600
    36/10,000k miles
    Adding Audi Care

$800 due at signing (including first month), does your calculations come out to $487/month including tax?

    Thank you!!!

.00105 and 55%. Using your MSRP and cap cost, I get a pre-tax payment of $490.

What is the net cap cost, the state you live in and the tax rate?

    Net cap cost of 38,350.
    Florida - 6%

With just first month down ($514) - do you get $514/month including tax?

Tried using the edmunds lease calculator.

    Thank you for your help!

Interesting ... I get $514/mo before tax with the new cap cost. 6% tax takes the payment to $545/mo

Sorry yes you are right, I had a 58% residual entered instead... based on 55% it says $549/month. Just to confirm, your calculations are based on just 1st month down at signing correct?

and if I do 36/7500miles, i assume is 56% residual, do you get $537/month?

What is the current MF and Residual for a 2.0T Premium Plus? 10k and 12k miles 36 mos - MY15?

Also- what % off MSRP (or above/below invoice) should I expect at this point? Would it be better to wait until the MY16s were actually on the lot for better negotiation?

    Thanks in advance!!

    .00086 and 53% or 54%.

Generally, 4-6% off sticker is doing well for Audi. Waiting for the 2016's to hit the lot may help you get a better price, but there won't be as much choice regarding color, options, etc.

Trying to compare how different lease economics are within the 2015 Q5 family. Looking at a 36 month and 12k/yr.

MF and Residuals for a 2.0 Premium Plus; 3.0 Premium Plus, and SQ5 Premium Plus

Also what are the markups on MF? I'm used to leasing BMW where you can get it at the buy rate.

    Thanks!

Maximum markup is an extra .00125, but we seldom see that.. Most markups are in the .00050 range. Since Audi lease programs aren't all that great, so not sure they could stand to mark it up a lot.

Hi - can someone help me with my math...I'm not getting the same payment as the dealer's quote using the Edmunds calculator - maybe it's the tax that's throwing it off.

    Details:
    Audi Q5 2.0 2015 Premium Plus
    MSRP $48,400
    Tint $250
    Sales price $45,496
    Rebate $750
    Sales price w/Adds $45,041
    Tax $2815.06 (Houston, TX)
    Acquisition Fee $695
    License, Red, Fees $331.44

For 36 month/15K miles per year lease:
    51% residual $24684 with MF of .00086
$1000 down payment = monthly payment of $727.65

    Thanks,
    Jaime

What is the net cap cost - are you rolling the taxes and fees into it?

I'm not sure....I can't tell if the monthly payment includes it all or not. I've asked the dealer to break down the payment for me...like how he calculated it.

Base MF is being used, so that's a good start.

I get $500/mo with your numbers, so your quote of $478 looks pretty good ... I suspect some of that $2850 is going to cap cost reduction.

Thanks Michaell, I'll have the dealer break out the $2,850. My rough calculation is it covers $478 1st month, $1,485 NY tax (0.0863) on 36 payments, and $695 bank fee, with $192 TBC. The $695 bank fee seems standard from what I've read here, is it negotiable?

No, it's imposed by the bank.

I understood from a previous answer that the SQ5 MF & residual rates are better than those of a 3.0 Q5. Could you please provide an example for 12K / 3 years, preferably MY 2016 if available? Thanks in advance!
