Thanks for the information. The MSRP was $40,050 I believe. I should go back I wanted 36/12 not 24/12 maybe they misunderstood me. Anyways what would my payment look like?

4x4 pre-tax payment works out to $456.34/mo; 4x2 is $481.25. Both are for 36/12.
Hi! This is such a great place for information; thank you all for your help! 2 questions. Bear with me, it's long but I found it super helpful when people posted details of their offers.
1) So I have a 2012 GC Laredo X that seems to have some positive equity. However my lease is from Ally so the dealer price is higher than my buyout. I was trying to avoid having to pay taxes but is my best option to buy it and then sell it? I'm in OH.
2) I am looking at a new GC Limited or Overland to lease. Does this look like a decent deal? Also I'm not sure how the rebates work..that will reduce the cap cost, right? I'm not seeing that in these numbers. .... This is the most recent offer and I appreciate the seeming transparency so far but am not sure it's adding up with the rebates.
Limited: $ 45855 - MSRP 43948 - Invoice 43584 - Supplier Price 500 - Additional Discount $ 43084 - Sale Price We would also be absorbing the cost of having the Nav activated.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 36 months x $ 516.59 - $0 due @ signing 39 months x $ 513.60 - 0$ due @ signing 36 months x $ 475.10 - $ 1233.47 due @ signing 39 months x $ 475.19 - $ 1230.48 due @ signing
Ally - 5.9% rate - $ 28263 residual (62%) Chrysler Capital - .00055 MF - $ 24160 residual (53%)
Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 36 months x $ 543.65 - $0 due @ signing 39 months x $ 540.14 - 0$ due @ signing 36 months x $ 498.71 - $ 1333.03 due @ signing 39 months x $ 498.53 - $ 1329.52 due @ signing
Ally - 6.050% rate - $ 28554 (60%) Chrysler Capital -- .00039 MF - $ 24747 residual (52%)
As I am sure you are aware, the dealer also has the ability to mark up the rate/money factor on the lease. I have not marked up either and you would be paying the "buy rate" the lender charges.
Do you have the rebates factored in on both leases? There is a difference in the rebates through Ally and Chrysler Capital. Through Chrysler there is $ 4000 in rebates on both vehicles. Through Ally there is $ 5500 on the Limited and $ 6500 on the Overland.

For your first question, if you simply turn the lease in, there are no tax obligations, but you are also walking away from any equity as well. If you use it as a trade in, then you can tap into that equity.
Second - I agree with you that the cap cost quotes from the dealer do not seem to reflect any lease cash or rebates available from the bank.. They can be used to either A) reduce the cap cost, or cover any up front costs of the lease (first payment, acquisition fee, dealer fee, etc.)
I don't have any Ally bank information so I can't help you with any quote from the dealer using that bank.
For Chrysler, the 36/15 numbers on the Limited are .00055 and 51% (53% for 12K); for the Overland, they are .00039 and 50% (52% for 12K).
Using the MSRP and selling prices provided, I get a $0 cap cost reduction, pre-tax payment of $558.75 for the Limited and $587.26 for the Overland.
I would ask for a more thorough breakdown of the net cap cost - what taxes and fees are included and how is the lease cash being applied.
Thanks, Michaell. I really appreciate your help! I'll request it and get back to you. Also, when you say you get a $0 cap cost reduction, can you explain? The capitalized cost in this example is 44910, right? I think maybe the way it was pasted in was off.

A cap cost reduction is the same thing as a down payment - cash or rebates used to lower the selling price. The number you are showing is the gross cap cost - the net cap cost is that number adjusted to reflect any taxes and fees being added in and reduced by any rebates or cash from you.

Overland:
$ 47590 - MSRP
45793 - Invoice
45410 - Supplier Price
500 - Additional Discount
$ 44910 - Sale Price

Got it. Thank you! (Apologies if I sound dense; I just want to be informed). Does this seem like a good deal based on his response? I may wait to see what June MF is.
The amount due at signing is $ 6733.47. There are $ 5500 in rebates and then an additional $ 1233.47 due. That amount includes the cap reduction tax, your 1st payment, the documentation and title fees (includes plates).
The adjusted cap cost is $ 40662.19. It is broken down this way:

Hi sorry I'm new to this forum and leasing in general. I am looking at a 2015 jgc 4x4 limited luxury group 2. Looking to lease for 36mths 15k miles. I see the money factor is .00055 and residual is 51%. Could someone please help me with the math. Just looking for what kind of Initial offer of mthly payment I should be expecting from dealer. Good credit and I was already quoted 3k for my trade so I would put that down towards dealer price. 46,640 msrp and 39171 dealer price.

I confirm the .00055 MF and 51% residual for 36/15. Using the MSRP and selling price provided, I get a pre-tax payment of $462/mo.
We do not recommend using trade equity as a down payment; if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money. Better to have the dealer cut you a check for the equity and use that money to help offset the higher payment.

If someone can confirm the current rebates/mf/rv for this exact deal, that would be fantastic leverage for my negotiation later today.
We don't have the numbers from Ally, so cannot help you.

What is the selling price? Lease term and miles per year?
selling price is 16.5 % off msrp, I'm trying to get 17%!

payment is now $502 if 1st paymen due at signing. All quotes from salesman I always assumed, I would have to see a lease proposal written by a finance guy to confirm....
Using $47,000 as the MSRP and $39,245 as the cap cost, along with the 36/15 lease numbers of .00039 and 50% for the Overland 4x4, I get a pre-tax payment of $462; with 7% tax, $494.
Ok, so visited the dealer, test drove and agreed on a contract/agreement, $250 deposited
2015 Overland 4x4

I just sent the dealer I was talking with a screenshot of this deal and the sales manager literally told me someone's full of crap. He proceeded to quote me $678 per month for the same exact deal above. The listed sale price of the vehicle was $41,760 with an Msrp of $47,390. They then told me there were no rebates available and if there were, it is to be deducted from the Msrp, not the sale price.
I'm having no luck getting anywhere with anyone. If somebody knows a dealership in Texas who is willing to deal, please let me know.

Oop, hold on a moment.
Texas is one of a few states that assesses sales tax against the entire selling price of the vehicle, greatly inflating the monthly payment.
What kind of deals are people getting on 2015 Jeep Gran Cherokee SRT8's. I am looking at them with the black 20's and the upgraded sound system, and the moon roof. MSRP is between $71k and $72k and they are offering $67k and change.
Well, like another poster said above, your state tax played a role. I'm in NE, so besides from reg. Fees and TTL, only monthly tax is calculated and added to base payment.
As far as incentives, I qualified for $1000 conquest (leasing another brand), $2500 customer cash, and $2500 if lease through third party ( read: can't use Chrysler F). Check for what incentives and what caveats comes with it, Edmunds and another 'Cars' site were what I had used.
Just have to be patient, and cast your net wide and far... I wished I would hold out for another day, one dealership is now offering $480 tax included! But 1st payment is due at signing and its 200 miles away. Yes, this is on an Overland 4x4. This dealer is the same dealer that a general manager called me and said he can't go lower than $500 and that I should buy from my local dealer... Again, be patient!
Ended up with local dealer 5 miles away, and got extra $200 cash back (refunded to cc along with $250 deposits) b/c they're drove 200 miles to bring the car here.
Nope, with those numbers I get a payment (after tax) of $554.18. I would confirm the net cap cost - I suspect that there are fees and such added into the selling price that is inflating your payment.

Limited: $ 45855 - MSRP 43948 - Invoice 43584 - Supplier Price
500 - Additional Discount $ 43084 - Sale Price
We would also be absorbing the cost of having the Nav activated.
Overland: $ 47590 - MSRP 45793 - Invoice 45410 - Supplier Price
500 - Additional Discount $ 44910 - Sale Price
Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
36 months x $ 516.59 - $0 due @ signing
39 months x $ 513.60 - 0$ due @ signing
36 months x $ 475.10 - $ 1233.47 due @ signing
39 months x $ 475.19 - $ 1230.48 due @ signing
Ally - 5.9% rate - $ 28263 residual (62%)
Chrysler Capital - .00055 MF - $ 24160 residual (53%)
Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
36 months x $ 543.65 - $0 due @ signing
39 months x $ 540.14 - 0$ due @ signing
36 months x $ 498.71 - $ 1333.03 due @ signing
39 months x $ 498.53 - $ 1329.52 due @ signing
Ally - 6.050% rate - $ 28554 (60%)
Chrysler Capital -- .00039 MF - $ 24747 residual (52%)
As I am sure you are aware, the dealer also has the ability to mark up the rate/money factor on the lease. I have not marked up either and you would be paying the "buy rate" the lender charges.
Do you have the rebates factored in on both leases? There is a difference in the rebates through Ally and Chrysler Capital. Through Chrysler there is $ 4000 in rebates on both vehicles. Through Ally there is $ 5500 on the Limited and $ 6500 on the Overland.
Second - I agree with you that the cap cost quotes from the dealer do not seem to reflect any lease cash or rebates available from the bank.. They can be used to either A) reduce the cap cost, or
I don't have any Ally bank information so I can't help you with any quote from the dealer using that bank.

43084.00 - Sale Price
1233.47 - Cash offset
44317.47
1249.72 - Tax
595.00 - Lender Fee
5500.00 - Rebates
$ 40662.19 - Adj. Cap Cost. On the Limited.

Also, a local dealer's internet price for one I'm interested in is at $39,025 with a Msrp of $44,290. Is there still room to negotiate from there?
What monthly payment should my target be for a rock star deal? I'm in Texas by the way, so taxes are on full price of the vehicle.
thanks!

At that MSRP and selling price, you'd be at $520/mo.+tax. With fees and 1st payment, upfront..

We do not recommend using trade equity as a down payment; if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money. Better to have the dealer cut you a check for the equity and use that money to help offset the higher payment.

@anh3 nice deal - what were the $6k in rebates? How did you get the final OTD down so low?
Ally has a higher MF but offsets that with large rebates to bring the cap cost down.
