I had asked earlier about MF and Residual on Overland 4x4. I'm working numbers with dealer now and we have agreed on sale price, residual and MF. They were willing to give me their deal structure print out upon leaving the store to think things over. I now notice they have my down payment added to the Adjusted Cap Cost. Shouldn't money down lower the adj cap cost?

.00001 and 51% for 36/10. With your MSRP and selling price, I get a pre-tax payment of $518.42.

Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is; there might be some fees added into your selling price that accounts for the difference.

One arrives at $47019.32 by adding sale price, deal fee, doc fee, taxes AND money down at signing. I think the Adjusted Cap Cost should be $45786.60, which is sale price, deal fee, doc fee and tax but LESS the money down at signing. Maybe I'm wrong.

What state is this? Tax obligations on a lease vary based on where you live.

I believe Ohio calculates the tax for the lease up front and you can choose to add it to the cap cost or pay it when you sign the paperwork. Looks like you are doing the former.

Ask the dealer to account for the math difference ... could be an honest mistake. Then again .....

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your response. I'm not questioning the tax being applied to the cap cost. The tax of $1572.46 is already being added in and the monthly payments they are quoting me are all in (tax,finance charge, lease charge, etc). That part make sense to me.

I'm questioning why the money due at signing ($616.36) is increasing the adjusted cap cost? It should lower it in my mind. Let's say - rather than putting $616 down, I decide to put down $6616 - that shouldn't make my adjusted cap cost go up $6k.

You are correct, which is why I recommend you walk through the numbers with the dealer VERY carefully. Also, make sure that the $616 is cap cost reduction (down payment) and not used for something else.

$595 total fees, no sec deposit

they offered a payment of $459 for 36 month, 10k/year.

Seems high but wanted another option.

Confirm the .00013 MF and the 36/10 residual is 51%.

Be advised that the sales tax in GA is applied to the entire selling price, which increases your payment greatly compared to other states.

We also do not recommend using trade equity as a down payment - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

Hi - thanks for the reply! Its a JGC Limited 4x4. Res is 53%, 36/10k lease. The quote assumes only first payment is due at signing. He didn't provide any more info but based on the above, I believe the cap cost would 36,520, excluding tax. There are no other costs. Thanks!

Assuming tax is around $1275, I get about $445/mo.

You'll have to ask them the CAP cost and how they arrived at it. I'll guess it will all become clear at that point.

Without any taxes or fees, I get $401/mo. To get to $580/mo., there would have to be another $6400 in charges added to the CAP cost.. So, something is way off. Taxes and fees shouldn't even be half of that amount..

I am in Florida and here is where the dealer is at on a 4x2 limited MSRP 40,300. negotiated price 36055. 12k/ year.

When I run the numbers I get $476 tax of 7% included. When he runs the numbers he is getting 501. Do you know where the difference is? Does this seem like a fair deal.

Using the MF and residual I gave you, along with your MSRP and selling price, I get a payment of $513.37/mo with tax. Find out what the net capitalized cost is; if it's higher than the selling price (and I'm betting it is), find out what's been added.
