I just picked up a new Accord Sedan LX Auto for $17,654 including destination, and $19,345 out the door when you add tax (8.25%) and license at Kolbe Honda in Reseda, CA.
Internet shopping is the way to go! Walked in with the email and I was out of there in 2 hours...very good service. They do try to sell you on the extended warranty and security system....but not hard.

I know that there are few others in the area, so if you have had any experience with the above or others I would welcome your comments.
Thanks
The price includes destination charges, extra tint, mud guards, trunk tray, and wheel locks.
It also includes a Texas 6.25% sales tax and all other fees.
It's a VERY nice car!
Anybody know if the dealer incentives, etc., are not likely to last?
When people start buying cars faster than they can make them, the incentives will stop. For all we know, that may happen this afternoon.
How long will it last? At lease to the end of the month and maybe longer - it all just depends on how many extra sales this generates. The dealers around here have not really taken advantage of the promo money to offer deals in the local paper or anything special to move cars. I guess they either don't care to increase volume or don't want to be seen discounting cars. Lots of high volume dealers already had good prices, now they just have better ones.

Dealership names, city and state may be posted, just not names of salespeople, their telephone numbers or email addresses.
I rec'vd an Internet offer of MSRP-$27,365 which includes $515 desitination. Price is $24,291. 36 month payment would be $355 for 12k.
Is this competitive? Could I--Should I do better?
Any help is appreciated!
So, I am looking to buy in the East Bay, know nothing about buying a car just that I need to get the best price and not get ripped off.
I'll try Fremont as seen in the posts. Thinking about a demo as we have bought demos in the past from Toyota. I don't know what to be careful of, what questions to ask, etc. to protect myself...if you have any let me know, otherwise I have a lot of research to do. What's the game, how do these dealers suck you in?
So please do NOT ask other members to post this information in the discussion.

I am from Colorado and bought an accord in California and paid no California sales tax. It was done in this way. I flew to Sacramento and was met at the airport by a driver from Auto West in Roseville. The entire processes took less than an hour. After signing papers I followed a driver out of the state to Reno. I then signed papers at a notary republic that I lived out of state and that I was taking the car out of California. Because I took delivery of the car out of state there was no sales tax.
This was not the first time they had done this, it seemed like the driver did it quite a few times. The Notary knew him by name and they talked for some time.
You would need to find a dealer close enough to the state line that will drive the car to another state so you do not pay state sales tax. Again, the dealer at Roseville outside of Sacramento gave me a very good price.
Hope this helps
I just got a quote today for $23,173 from Auto West in Fremont (same as Autonation) before TTL, includes destination charge. When did you get your quote? Was it an online quote? Don't think I can get the $22,638. Everyone is tell me that there were big incentives at the end of December 04.
The quote was on March 9. But your deal is essentially the same ($135 different). I would go for it! Let me (us) know if it all works out. Good luck!
I think the reason that we are seeing a variety of deals is that the $600 incentive often mentioned is actually a tiered incentive tied to monthly sales; a dealership is given a sales goal by Honda based on previous numbers. Two adjacent dealerships may have varying goals. In order to get the maximum incentive, the dealer has to have earned it, so some dealerships may not have the maneuverability to deal if their sales numbers are weak. Seems backwards, like a vicious circle.
I tried Grand, who gave me good quotes but in vague language. When I asked detailed questions about the vehicle they were quoting for, I received back boilerplate responses in broken english. O'Hare wouldn't deal and was rude. Since my last post, I received another unsolicited message from the same internet manager criticizing me for playing "pricing games" and getting dealers to bid against one another. Continental was cordial but also failed to deal. Upon seeing my other quotes, Lisle wouldn't even give me one. McGrath in St. Charles advertises that they'll beat any quote, but proceeded to quote me $300 over my highest one.
I highly recommend Bemis Auto World/Honda in Sycamore. I bought my vehicle for 21,674 + TTL. Every aspect of the experience was flawless.I mistakenly showed up at the dealership without my liscense transfer paperwork; to avoid making me drive back out, the sales manager gave me new plates, backing the liscense fee off of the car price.
Genuine people, seemed highly authentic and trustworthy. Most importantly, they seemed to understand that some buyers are informed and have better things to do with their time then hear horror stories about the competition. It was worth the drive out there.

Purchase date: 03/22/05 (New Jersey)
Price paid: $17,750 + tax/license/fees
No trade in, paid Illinois sales tax, $55.35 doc fee, $65 new title fee, and as I mentioned, received the new plates ($78)as a courtesy.

"nobody in the Midwest will honor Grand Honda's prices"
Not only did you beat Grand Honda’s pricing and debunk anything O’Hare Honda told you, you beat $1,000 under which is a pretty good deal if you ask me
Good Luck and enjoy your new Accord.

MR GERDES--What are your thoughts on a local dealer offering all Accords at $1100 below invoice?
THANKS ALL!!
I am getting a 2005 Honda Accord LX 5 speed Automatic for $17,200 including destination Charges.. Do you think this is a good price or can i still shop around to beat the price
Price $17,200 +
doc fee $250 +
MVP $254 +
Tire Tax $7.50
Plus Credit checking $52
Can anyone tell the doc fee , MVP and Credit check are the numbers correct.... i am in New Jersey...
IF this is good price i am planning to go tomorrow to get the car.
This is a great deal....all the numbers look legit, except the credit checking fee. IMO, it's too much, usually its about $10-20...but hey with that kind of deal, I think the $52 is not too bad...negotiate with them to see if they will drop or reduce it.
I purchased my 2005 Honda Accord LX 5 speed Automatic for $17,585 + destination + TTL, on 3/12/05. The dealer threw in pin stripe, mud/splash guards, wheel locks and free oil change at no extra cost which retails at about $200.00 (not including the free oil chnage) as well as a a thank you gift certificate of $25
I'll say you're getting a sweet deal, but make sure they don't take you to the cleaners by manipulating the numbers for your financing. If I were you, I will get my own financing from my credit union or Capital One Auto Finance or E-Loans....that way they can't fiddle with your payments.....Am not saying that's what they will do, just a precautionary measure for you to look into!
Good Luck...
That sounds like a great price indeed! Given the latest FTD incentives, I would squeeze for another $2 to $400 myself ;-)
Please post this dealerships name and location so others in and around your area have a place to purchase at $1,100 under invoice as well
Good Luck

Seems like prices are higher here in Phoenix than some other areas I'm reading about in this forum. Or maybe I didn't try hard enough. I solicited bids via the internet and just picked the lowest.
In any case, I'm happy with the car and the buying experience at Right Honda was almost perfect. The fleet manager was straight forward and courteous - absolutely no game playing. Spent less than an hour at the dealership.
$19,034 - $600 - $630 = $17,804.
I don't know that the "MVP" fee is or why you should pay it - you also should not have to pay a "credit check fee". Get pre-approved through your bank or credit union and/or through an online place like Capitol1 auto finance. What could happen is they will jack up the rate on you in the F&I office. So watch them. If they give you a competitive rate on a simple iterest loan of the correct term - then sounds like a super deal.
BTW, Jesey Honda in Edison was running the LX autos for $17,500 - but it turns out you had to pay the doc fee ($198) and the destination fee on top of that.

As I recall, there is no "Title" fee in NYS. Your title will just show up in the mail in a month or two after you register your vehicle. My NYS Registration Document indicates that my annual charge is $20.75 (plus a vanity plate fee that was my own choice). There are no other NYS fees, as long as you pay the sales tax rate for your county.
Any other "fees" would be of the dealer imposed variety. You should be able to talk them out of any... if they want your business.
But it was a mistake a sales person did to approve that price, and came to know that the price which she quoted was not realistic.
But since she had documented the figures, they had to honor it, The manager was kind enough to give me that price ... the only thing which i think i paid more is the credit fee which is $52 which i won't mind when i am getting such a deal.
The sales person that I went to today was a really good guy. He could have easily dishonored our quote since we had no deposit on the figures, no agreement, nothing. But today was a good experience.
Let me know if you need more info...
Honda City in Liverpool won't even quote me a price unless I "buy today." They're some serious scumbags.
I am asking for some assistance from our MA. members I sold my Honda Insight and will be driving it out to MA. for the sale as well as picking up a PZEV based Accord EX-L I4 w/ Auto and NAVI 4-door. I received a solid quote from Chambers Honda in Boston for a Graphite Gray at $23,201 incl. dest. (not a bad price after a 5 minute phone call) but when the Internet sales guy checked his inventory, they had sold their last NAVI and graphite gray was the color they had earlier in the week. I checked the other 2 Chambers Honda dealerships inventory online as did Charlie (the Chamber’s Internet sales person helping me) w/ no NAVI’s of any color available at the other two either. What is up w/ the availability of I4’s w/ NAVI in MA. anyway?
So does anyone know where I can find a Graphite Gray (will settle for Silver although I would prefer not too) PZEV based Accord EX-L I4 w/ Auto and NAVI in MA. at a similar price? If not, I have about 100 phone calls to make into MA. on Monday and Tuesday to find one and I am not to sure I will find what I want at a price similar to what Chambers has offered me already? I would hate to have to make two trips out to MA. (one to deliver my Insight and the other to pick up a PZEV Accord) to finalize the deal.
Are there any strange fees I may not be aware of from the MA. dealerships? Here in IL. it is a std. $55.39 DOC fee, Tax, Title, and License or License Transfer. The TTL are state items so are not negotiable and that is about it.
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

I think it is not a bad starting price for negotiation. Could anyone comment on this price? Thanks. BTW, I am in Maryland.
