Civics WITH side airbags are sluggish sellers compared to those without. People will spend an extra 500.00 for a set of fog lights that are of little value but they will balk at the extra 300.00 for the side airbags.
my advice would be to swap the bumper with another new Accord without the holes. You get a new hole free bumper and the dealer can pass on your bumper to someone who requires having a license mounted on the front of their new Accord.
Here are the details:

This was on initial (and very prompt) response to my email. Very pleasant sales process. Very professional. No added pressure. No surprises. Bottom line was exactly as quoted in the email, with minimal upsell pressure for add-ons or warranty. No "required" etching. Best car buying experience I've ever had.
Contacted Austin dealers to see if they would match my price. They didn't believe my quote, and told me not to bother coming into the dealership if I expected anything near that price.. so I drove right past them and waved on my way to San Antonio.
Very impressed with the car on the way back to Austin. Can't see how you can get a better car for the money, especially at this price. I'm very pleased.
accordlover> our purchase together when we talk with dealers?
Counldn't hurt. I would think that it might help motivate a dealer to make two sales instead of one.
I would suggest that you use an internet email attack in order to get bids rather then going dealer to dealer to find your best deal.
This method has been discussed on this board extensively. Just go back to messages posted since February of this year and read forward for the various experiences and the results of using this method.
I am looking to buy a 2004 EX V6 4-door sedan without navigation. How much should I pay for it? Has anyone had a good experience buying in PA/NJ/DE area? Also, Edmunds mentions 1.9% financing but none of the nearby dealers in PA seem to advertise it. Any ideas?
Thanks for your help!
Thanks for any and all help.

One dealers no haggle internet price (the one 220 miles away) is $17,900 for a manual tranny LX w/out side airbags. From what I am reading here, I take it I can do about $500 or more better than than. Is this the case?
for Accord 2.4(4dr) LX w/side airbags: $19,800
and Accord 2.4 EX with leather : $23,500
In my situation I need to buy a car very soon (my old Altima told me final g'buy).
Also, is it true that EX 4 cyl Accord with leather has no option for side curtain airbags?
I would really appreciate for you help on this.
I paid $26,890 for all of the above plus $53 doc fee and $80 lisc transfer fee. My only other cost was taxes. (Remember, this was October 2003)
Price your car with all of the options you want. Dealers will often match or beat the CarsDirect price wtihout options and then try to clean your clock on the options. With the options included CarsDirect was at least 500-700 cheaper than the dealers, including the internet reps.
That is correct--there is no option for side curtain airbags on EX-L Accords (4 cyl. w/leather) because the side curtain airbags are standard on that model--that's the car I have so I know it's correct. It's one of the reasons I chose that model Accord--I wanted curtains.
As for prices, I paid $22,700 last August for one of the first '04s and with only about 2 months before the '05s appear, the price should now be much less--say, somewhere between $21,000 and $21,800 before tax, license, and other fees that are remitted to state and local entities.
EX models without leather are available with optional side curtains. It is my understanding that ALL 2005 Accords will be equipped with side curtain airbags--even the entry-level DX Accord......Richard

I have just bought a new EX-L, auto, I4, without any other deal-installed features, for $22,676.85 today at Herson's Honda, Rockville, Maryland. This was through internet sales, and we picked the second lowest bid.

This time around, I did the same homework for a 2nd car. First, I nailed down my choice. Research for the lowest price. Finally, I sent seven emails out to local dealers, requesting quotations. Emails came in hours later. I then called Criswell to confirm the deal, made appointment the same day, and drove over after work to pick up the car. Well, surprise! The sales said that car was just sold. I could tell immediately that it was a lie, because I already spelled out the color I wanted both in my email and in our telephone conversations. Further, the sales didn't want to prepare the car for immediate delivery, because, in his words, he wanted me to go there and choose one from many by myself. What a waste of time dealing with Criswell Honda, Germantown.
A saleswoman at another dealer told me after a couple of email message exchanges that she could not give me the deal I was looking for "good luck with your search" she said.
My question is: if I struck out with one salesman at a certain dealership, can I just contact another salesman at the same dealer? Some internet sites list the names of more than one salesman. Thanks
Also, the sales person is not the one who really negotiates the deal with you. Your deal is brought into the back office where the GM will look at and tell the sales person what they can or can not do. Granted, the GM may have more motivation to make a deal at different times- aka end of the month to meet #'s or such so what he would not do one day he might do another day.
miragesea> the past week. I contacted five MD area dealers.
In my opinion you contacted way too few dealers to ferret out the lowest rock-bottom price on your desired vehicle. Inventories fluxuate and what may have been a good deal for a certain dealer last month may not be this month but there are likely others out there in just the opposite position who would be glad to make that deal. You just have to find them.
miragesea> One salesman told me they had the car and we sort of
miragesea> agreed on the price but when I went there it was not
miragesea> the car we'd talked about--I wanted side air bags.
This is why I suggest that you specify the Honda model number in your Dealer Bid Request as well (in your case for the 2004 Honda Accord LX 4dr Sedan w/Dual Side Airbags (2.4L 4cyl 5A) it is CM5644EW.)
Additionally, I suggest after you have a verbal agreement with the Internet salesperson but before you ever leave your home to go to the dealership to purchase the vehicle, you have the Internet salesperson fax you a complete Buyers Order that has the full description of the vehicle (including VIN, their Stock and Honda Model numbers) as well as the agreed pricing and signed by their manager.
If they won't agree to that (and it's possible they might not want to because of competitive reasons but I would try) then I would at least ask for an unsigned copy to be faxed and then personally speak with the manager that has the final authority by phone to get his word that this is a deal he will stand by once you get there.
miragesea> My question is: if I struck out with one salesman at a
miragesea> certain dealership, can I just contact another salesman
miragesea> at the same dealer?
You probably can but I'm not sure you'll get a different result. Your proposal was probably discussed with the Internet salespersons manager and for whatever reason they decided it was not a deal worth doing. Internet salespersons (in many cases) are compensated on a flat rate for each car sold and not by the amount that is in the deal for the dealership the way traditional car salesmen are. Her hands may have been tied and she was being genuine when she said "good luck with your search".
As I said before, I would broaden your horizons of dealerships and email and fax bid request to as many dealers as possible. Certainly include the Virginia and Baltimore area dealers. Ultimately you don't have to buy from a dealer you consider too far away from you but you will likely find the lowest rock-bottom price available in the DC metro area. And with that knowledge, you may also be surprised to find a closer dealer who will now match your best price.
The sales rep that I worked with at Family Honda, Twee Mai, was great. She gave me a firm price over the internet, and had the car washed and waiting when I arrived. I was in and out of the dealership, including financing, in 90 minutes. One of the best sales experiences I have had. I highly recommend this dealership and sales rep.
On the other hand, I would NOT go to either Poway Honda or Pacific Honda. Both dealerships did not have competitive prices and wasted my time. Pacific adds all this cr@p to their cars like pinstripes and tries to tell you what a "deal" you're getting, based upon the discounts for their cr@p. Fuller Honda was the worst - they promised me a price over the internet and on the phone, then raised prices on me at the last minute, after asking for all of my personal financial information for a supposed credit check.
btw...I have my first nick on my car
We test drove last week, researched like crazy, and obsessively read these messages (Thanks!). We went on an an e-mail blitz campaign and had 8 dealers competing for our business
Our lowest bid was 23.4 but the dealership was far, the internet salesguy sounded aggressive, and we'd heard negative comments about the after-sale support.
We went with the second lowest at 23.8. We had a truly pleasant experience with Noel at Scott Honda in West Chester,PA. He was low-key, low-pressure, took his time, pulled no tricks, and let us take our time driving the car. We agreed on the sale price by phone, so the purchase was relatively stress-free.
He gave us a free trunk liner and gave me a higher-than-KBB price on my trade. We opted for the added 189 leather protection
This message board was enormously helpful to us- thanks, everyone, for contributing your experiences.
BTW, we really, really like the V6, though we were surprised to find how much higher we seem to sit in the sedan compared to the coupe.
Additionally, Wright Honda in Drexel Hill was anxious to price-match, Conicelli had the lowest quote, and Martin in DE quickly dropped out of the bidding wars.
I've found these boards extremely helpful- let me know if I can be useful.
$4000 down for 60 months- about 323 a month. is this a good deal?
Can I just walk into a dealership with a printout and show it to them?
