I bought an '07 LE V6 with leather and floor mats this morning thru the Costco buying service for $23,448 + TTL which is $300 over the so called invoice price. See the details below. This was the best deal I found among three dealers and the internet services. The car will be delivered in about ten days. It's interesting that excluding the destination charge, there are still almost $1,500 in fees and holdback charges to cover dealer operating expenses even if you paid only invoice. I plan to finance thru my local bank at 6.49%. Toyota's best financing rate now is 6.9% in Texas.

    Invoice MSRP
    07 LE V-6 Camry 19,812.80 23,040.00
    Leather 1,116.40 1,399.00
    Floor mats 126.00 199.00
    Destination 635.00 635.00
    Advertizing Fee 376.01
    Marketing Fee 267.03
    Holdback 2% of MSRP 460.80
    Financial Reserve 230.40
    PIO Holdback 120.51

    Totals 23,144.96 25,273.00
    Dealer Profit 303.04
Sales Price 23,448.00 Plus Tax, Title and License

Do we really have to pay for the above? I live in Texas too and looking to get Camry 07 LE 5spd Manual or Honda Accord LX SE 5spd Manual. Anyone bought Camry LE I4 in Texas and what was the price?

    Thanks.

Just got off the phone with the sales manager at Hudson Toyota. He quoted $400 above invoice on LE's and $1200 on XLE's. Best price I've seen so far in NJ.

I got 19400 deal for LE auto 4cyln. It includes mats and electrochromic mirror ( worth atleast $120), from right toyota. he is asking 389 for doc fee. which is high compared to others and he told me OTD price would be between 21500-600. I did not ask for 400 rebate for recent college graduate yet.
    Is this good deal?
I am planning for test drive in different car to test for slight jerk.

Have you checked Tim's Auto at Prescott?
Their website states $500 over invoice for 2007 Camry not including hybrid. I don't know their invoice price though. It is 1-2 hour drive from Phoenix.
  • guillguill Member Posts: 94
Yeah, it's too bad that Toyota removed the split-folding rear seat option from the Camry SE. I really like this option in my SE; have used it a number of times.
  • fsowirlesfsowirles Member Posts: 195
I'll take a rigid body over folding seats, for $100 please, Alex.
  • satul96satul96 Member Posts: 16
I looked at Tim's website. It is asking $500 above invoice price. what right toyoya is asking , I caculated , $250 more. I am not sure I missed something. I will talk to tim's rep for the exact price of the car.

After sending email inquiry to ~10 Toyota dealers, the best quote I received was $19219 for a Camry LE with a set of floor mats (MSRP $21279). In the second round, several dealers agreed to match the price but none was willing to beat it. So I decided to have my transaction done with the original best bidder (Walnut Creek Toyota) today. The OTD price is about 21150. :) It took us about two hours to complete the transaction. I am quite happy with my experience today.

I was offered extended warranty for $780. Is it something worthy? But I took their offer of prepaid autocare program for $950 anyway. Sounds like a good deal.

hey you got good deal. One dealer offered 19400 ( including floor mats and electrochromic mirror) I looked at the price of mirror it is $120. so If I remove that invoice would be 19280. your OTD price is also good. How much they charged for document fee, license fee and tax.

I have to agree with lahermo...I am in Georgia. Went to a dealership named Sandy Springs Toyota. Went in with a check from Capital one, determined to buy a Camry. The experience was so bad, its unreal. Just got up, left and decided to never ever go back. The salesman must have emailed 10 times. Just politely refused. If any of you guys are thinking of buying at this dealership, be very careful during your visit and purchasing.
  • moeharrimoeharri Member Posts: 108
Could you elaborate on what was bad? Was the sales person trying to pressure you or did they try to give you a bad price, etc? I'll update with my story soon. Thanks for any extra info!
  • pkdpkd Member Posts: 3
In Mass, dealer advertised it for 16977. I paid 16977 + 400 (not eligible for college grad rebate) = 17377 + taxes. Total out the door price including 5% taxes was 18500.

lahermano: Salesmen and Dealers have their quotas and targets. If the salesman had made "just 1 more sale" today, he might have gotten a larger commission for the month. His GM might have gotten a cruise around the world... who knows. Interestingly enough,as I recall, the sales month for some brands doesn't usually close until the day after the end of the month. If it comes in tomorrow (Monday), you might get another panic phone call. At that point, you might be able to get a heckofa deal. Bargin hard, but have your checkbook ready!

I want to know that if you were to add a keyless at any car toys, would that void your toyota warranty for the electrical parts ?
  • lev1lev1 Member Posts: 6
I most strongly disagree. I have called / e-mailed to four dealers with the offer I learned in this forum (19 and a SMALL change) and have purchased a gray on gray 2007LE from Toyota of Orange "fleet" department this Friday and am very satisfied with the price and experience. The car was not on the lot when I ordered it (took a week to get) and initially Rick wanted a small deposit, but once he has seen proof that I was for real he held the car just on my word. Do your homework (that means know the price and prearrange financing), do not waste their time (they are paid minimum wage + commissions, so you absolutely can not expect to spend their time for free)!
Same statistics than I have had with Honda and Nissan (my previous cars - out of 5 dealers one would not answer, two would start playing "come to the lot we'll make you happy" game and would buy the car from one of the two remaining for the price I want. Even the gamers were courteous in their writing - based on their answers I never called them.
  • lev1lev1 Member Posts: 6
If they lied to you about availability - that's bad. I would go to the GM to complain (actually to verify by myself whether it was there and got sold or it has never been there). Then I would get the GM's estimate of car availability - honestly, I do not see what could be wrong with the couple of hundred dollars credit card deposit on a car that will have been delivered in a day or two if everything else was OK - unless you are very generou$$ (I am not), it will take you longer to get a new deal than to wait a little. If you are stingy with money, you have to be flexible on time - the old parable of fast-cheap-quality - you can choose only two out of three is still true. I had to wait almost a week and was willing to wait 10 days to get the car I want for the price I want and I did.

If you don't mind, how much did you pay for your 2007 Camry LE? Car price, and then with taxes and other fees included. I'm looking to buy pretty much a base model 2007 Camry LE, with just the security system option, and Toyota of Orange was one of the dealers I was going to talk to. Just wondering what you paid for your car so I can get somewhat of a ballpark estimate of what Toyota of Orange is willing to offer. I'd appreciate it.

I'm also going to give Costco's Auto Buyer program a trial...gonna stop by their "authorized agents" to see what their "special" pricing is.
  • lev1lev1 Member Posts: 6
I have stopped going to the dealership to buy the car years ago because of the same frustration described above. I go well in advance during the week days when there is no real business done to see / try the cars and, once I make a decision, then do all my negotiations over the internet / phone with the fleet person (there is a huge difference between fleet person and sales person) of whatever brand I have chosen. There is no need to "stop by their agent" - Costco flyer has his phone and if he can not divulge the numbers over it - too bad for HIM.
Do you have a preapproval letter from whoever is going to finance the car? If you do not, then my price is not going to be yours - you will have to feed two extra persons (salesman+finance guy). It is fair.
Do you have cash to cover the down payment / difference between the OTD price (cost +~9% in CA) and whatever you have been approved for? If you do not, see the above.
Do you realize that for all practical purposes all Camrys, come with carpets, so basic LE in CA (no manuals here)starts with MSRP of 21,272 and asking them to remove carpets is futile?
Do you know exact colors and options you want and are you willing to compromise a little? I could not on color, but agreed to order it without photochrome rear mirror that he said he could not order and now others here say they got it.
Are you willing to wait for the car and to give a small credit card deposit on it? There is no such thing as dealer trade when you do bottom-price fishing and unless you want it in silver (as of this weekend, they had 10) it may be "forthcoming, but not here"?
Wait means that when he says that the car is 10 days away, the actual time may be 7 or 14 days and you will have to work with the fleet guy around yours and his schedule, even when he says that "any" other fleet person can finish the deal, it is not so and you do want him to make something without having to split it - there is not going to be enough for two and if you consider yourself a decent person you do need to account for that, even if it is "not your problem".
If the answer on all questions is yes, then you can expect to get basic 2007LE with carpets and security system for 19.5 +tax and DMV fees. If you do not want to wait, Longo Toyota has, probably, everything, but the price with carpets and security shall be between 19.8 and 20k + government fees. Again, these are FLEET prices. I have leased from Longo and my car was washed / gassed / placed on the sold lot before I have arrived (I did call that I am coming and faxed preapproval letter ahead of time) and bought from Toyota of Orange where they sent it for detailing only after I have shown up. It took a day and a half from the beginning (first call) to delivery with Longo for 2005 SE V-6 in gold with "nothing extra" and nine days with Toyota of Orange (because of color) to get 2007LE gray on gray.

My dealer treated me like I was buying a Lexus. Not to mention, it was all set up over email and phone calls, so no hassle when I arrived. Signed the papers, handed my check and was out the door.

    I got two quotes today:
One for an Le with the following options:
Moonroof package, Leather interior upgrade, RS security system, mud guards and carpet floor mats for a drive-out price of $23,800, but the thing is they will have to look for this car and the salesman said may take 10-14 days.

The other car on the lot had the following:
Extra mile option package D($1757),Leather interior upgrade and tint for the price of $25,380 drive-out.

Which one is the better deal, should I wait on the 23,800 dollar car or just take the one on the lot? Give me some suggestions please, my head is about to blow car shopping. Thanks in advance, and this is in houston by the way.

    07 XLE V6 Equipped with
    Vsc& Trac
    Smart Key
    Heated Seats
    Body Side Moldings
    XM Radio
    Mats
$28,000 OTD. Includes $300 State Sales Tax & $25.00 License & title fee.

Started to buy in Ohio to get away from SE Toyota Distriburors; but the dealer (namless) started adding a lot of garbage to the Sales order that was in addition to their internet quote. I walked & ended up buying at Jim Hudson Toyota. Columbia, SC. They also allowed well above Kelly for my trade. Overall, a good car buying experience.

I've had good dealings with two Toyota dealers since 2000. I've bought (me and my kids) 9 new Toyota's since 2000 and after I found a saleperson I "clicked" with the experiences have always been great.

I have a Camry Hybrid coming in about 2 weeks!

check out the sunday and saturday news paper. Dont go to them just yet. Call them and ask them if they have anything available with whatever color you want. Tell them that you will buy it the same day. I bought it from IRA Tewksbury. I had bad experience with Herb Chambers.
  • bobgwtwbobgwtw Member Posts: 187
No, the $28000. was the sale price w/o the trade in. Not sure what the actual invoice is here in the Southeast. Edmunds has dropped the $750. "Administration" fee Southeast Toyota Charges from their cost price list; But Kelly still lists it as a $750.addition to the invoice.
  • petomlinpetomlin Member Posts: 103
WOW!!! I have to Know. What state charges $300 sales tax on a $28,000 car? I'm gonna move there! :)
  • bobgwtwbobgwtw Member Posts: 187
I don't know. Kelly thows the invoice price in the Southeast to be $28,365, including the SE Toyota $750. "Administration Fee". Edmunds shows the "SE Toyota Distributors "Administration Fee" in their price list, but shows "0" for the cost.

    Who Knows!
  • bobgwtwbobgwtw Member Posts: 187
South Carolina. No matter what you buy, new or used, and no matter what the cost, the maximum state sales tax is $300. for state residents. Guess it would be worth taking up residence if you want to buy a Lexus or Rolls.

So are you a Ohio resident who drove to SC to purchase the car? I am Ohio resident. Do I still pay 300 sales tax if I were to flew there to purchase the car?

Should I contact them by email or phone? Thanks!

    That's a hell of deal!
  • jordan33jordan33 Member Posts: 2
    Thanks for the reply.

Financing, and credit, is not a problem. I don't think I should find much, if any, problem in getting a GREAT financing rate.

I don't mind waiting for the car that I want, whether it be color or whatnot...however, I hope to get the car I want there at the dealership. I have no problems waiting a week or two to pick up my car, but I WILL NOT be haggled into paying more for another car because I "need" it there and now, which I don't.

I've received an e-mail quote "Fleet Special Price" of $18,999 plus tax, document fee, and DMV fees from Toyota of Orange for an LE. This was offered by one of their Fleet representatives. Edmunds defines fleet as "A fleet vehicle is one that was only offered and sold, when new, to companies that own a "fleet" of vehicles, such as rental car companies and governmental agencies. When the vehicle is no longer needed by the fleet operator, it is usually sold in the wholesale market." I'll admit, I'm not one to buy a new car very often, so what exactly is a "fleet"? Does that mean that the car was previously used? I'd greatly appreciate the help. Thanks.

    Great forum!

jj, I have not bought yet but when I do, I will likely go to Hudson Toyota in Jersey City. Another poster said they got a very good deal and the person I spoke with - the Sales Manager immediately offered 400 over invoice on LE's and 1200 over on XLE's. This is much better than Morristown and Condit dealers, both of which said they were not discounting Camry's yet. Good for them!

The only other dealer that I might go with is Towne Toyota in Succusanna. I got a good deal on a Sienna 18 months ago. But, he was not ready to go as low as Hudson.

I am in no rush for a car and may hold off for a while to see if any serious issues arise because this is the first model year. There are reports of auto transmission problems in the V6's. See toyotanation.com.

    Good luck. efpat1

FYI - I would pay $1680 in tax (NJ) on that same $28K. :(

I saw the 07 Camry LE at my local dealer with an upgraded option - Toyota alloy wheels- ($1400). What kind of alloy wheels has such a high MSRP price?
  • bobgwtwbobgwtw Member Posts: 187
seanh2o: I'm a SC resident who first tried to buy a car in Ohio to avoid Southeasst Toyota's extra Charges. I visit family & friends in Ohio several times a year.

The $300. Max SC sales tax only applies to South Carolina residents. If you come to SC to buy you will, unfortunately, have to pay Ohio sales tax.

Bought a 07 Camry CE (manual transmission) $16590, + ttt. 17995 out the door. I think I did great, anybody want to burst my bubble?
