Well, there's always a lemon with any manufacturer.

However, your story doesn't make sense. If the car was only 4 months old, they couldn't blame you for that. How many miles did you put in those 4 months, 10K?

I have owned 3 Infinitis so far and I've never had an issue w/ oil. I usually drive at most 800 miles/month (even less in the summer), so, I have my oil changed every 4-5 months. Sometimes, the dealer even tells me to wait another month because I don't have enough mileage, like only 3K since my last oil change.

there have been threads written about the Gs oil consumption in some of the G forums. i forget the complaint, but it's true the G will go through oil quickly, especially in the break-in period. that's why it's important to follow the maintenance schedule - oil change at 3700 miles. with the G, you must do oil changes at every 3700 miles or so. in my dealership, the first oil change is free (and i got two additional free oil changes). they use ester oil which is good for our engines.

Also good for Nissan at 11 bucks a quart.

    Hey all,

I just purchased a 2009 G37 Journey Sedan with the Premium Package for 32500 :)

Can someone please explain the AMEX gift card program for me? I understand that I need to team up with another buyer to receive the gift card.

    Thanks in advance!

Put in your own brand of oil. See what happens. People kill me when the want an engine that produces 300+ horsepower but want to take care of it like a VW. The previous story sounds like we have someone who wants to have all the fun of a G37 but needs to really have a Jetta to take care of. If you cant afford to take care of a car of this type you shouldnt buy one.
  • members78members78 Member Posts: 140
the BMW M3 was also notorious for burning lots of oil in the break-in period.
  • blnewtoblnewto Member Posts: 146
Sounds pretty "troll-ee" to me. Just joined the forum, blasts the car then goes on his way. No way you run the engine dry of oil without some previous clues unless you parked the car in some brush just after your oil plug popped out, then drove away unsuspecting :confuse:
I've had 2 Gs, the first an 07 and put 40k on it. Changed oil every 3500 miles w/ conventional 5w30, never more than a fourth of a quart low at the change interval. I now use Mobil1 on our 09 G37, no need to spend the higher bucks on Nissan Ester Oil, just be sure to use a good full synthetic and a high quality filter and the VQ motor is about as good as they get.
Another clue to the "troll-ness" was stating they're going back to a BMW for someting more reliable. Having owned an 02 745LI I can honestly say BMW needs to stand for "Buy More Warranty". No way should you own one without a warranty, because you're going to use it several times a year, and once they get 100k on them you'll need serious disposeable income to keep them road-worthy :(

Hi: Would that be the same for a G-37 Coupe? In otherwords if the National Base Invoice price is $33,859, the Premium Package Invoice price is $2,770, and the Navigation Invoice price is $1,905. Then I would add all those invoice prices up minus the $2,500 plus the destination fee and TTL. Thanks, Walt

I just got an offer from out of state dealer.

    MSRP: $39,665 W/Premiuim pacakged

Selling price: $34,200 plus fees and $800 shipping to my state.

Finance at 4.49 for 72 month

What do u guy think? i need to make the decision soon.
  • c_litec_lite Member Posts: 22
Quite a few things do not add up. Most expensive base model is G37x. That with premium + 865 destination in Chicago area comes to 38915 (it will be similar elsewhere I guess). So if the dealer is saying sticker is 39,665 that is already stretching the truth. Then another 800 bucks for shipping? Would you be picking up the vehicle or is it going to be FedExed to you or something? :D

Skip the sticker price completely. Check what the invoice price is including destination plus the options you want for YOUR zip code in edmunds. Deduct $2500 from invoice. If you are paying few hundred more or less of that price, you are doing good. If not, based on the prices you have posted, it is not good price. And I am not sure why you would need to pay shipping twice.

As per my post couple of days ago, I just got a new G37. Thank you for sharing your oil change tips.

A few follow-up questions: do you have an Infiniti dealer change synthetic oil for you or you have it changed by someone else and keep the receipts? If are having some oil change shop do it or you are doing it yourself, do you know if Infiniti will accept your oil change/purchase receipts for warranty work?

And, is there a forum for G37 maintenance (I did some quick check and didn’t find anything impressive), like this one is a great forum focused solely on purchasing a G37?
  • addamsaddams Member Posts: 74
This oil consumption issue with the 37. Is this just during breaf in or all the time after also? I know it's different but my 02 Altima doesn't use a drop between 5K oil changes.
  • rhard49rhard49 Member Posts: 226
I can relate to your BMW having leased and loved a 735, I loved t so much I bought it at the end of my 48 month lease. In the next 2 years, 2 transmissions and every repair imaginable I figured out if I averaged out my repairs it was 350-400 bucks a month, and sold it. I have an 08 G35X I bought last november (love the .9 percent financing) I use royal purple synthetic oil in since 5k miles just did my second change at 10k if it used any of it it was immeasurable and I do not have a light foot. My local service station charges me 12 bucks to install my oil and filter. I Love my G the MPG just sucks. RP brought me up to 18.2 MPG
  • dealhunter5dealhunter5 Member Posts: 13
    Hey SewellGSM,

Any idea if the incentives for G37x Sedan will get any better in November? I am about to make a purchase this week but would hate to see additional incentives come out next week. I am in the NorthEast (Boston) and there seems to be a ton of inventory (185+ cars across 6 dealers based on their web inventory). Can't imagine they can come close to selling them all before the end of the year when the 2010's start showing up in January.

Any insight or advice would be appreciated.

    They also added:
SEN[A93] Vehicle Alarm Impact Sensor$130.00SGD[B94] Splash Guards$150.00CGO[N93] Trunk Cargo Mat$60.00IKP[P94] Illuminated Kick Plates$350.00TMA[T93] Trunk Mat w/Logo$100.00

The car is in Az and im from WA so that why i don't want to fyling down there and drive up here. So shipping is $800

    MSRP: $39,655
    INVOICE: $ 36,482
SELLING PRICE: $34,200 + FEE+TAX+SHIPPING FROM AZ TO WA $800
  • c_litec_lite Member Posts: 22
So basically you are getting 36,482 - 34,200 = 2282 off of invoice. Taking $2500 rebate in effect you are getting it at $218 above invoice. Including shipping you are getting it at $1018 above invoice. I think your local dealer would be more than happy to sell it to you for $500 above invoice. You get to save $518 from what you are spending now, plus actually get to touch & feel a $40k piece of hardware before you pay for it. Right?
  • djheartbreakdjheartbreak Member Posts: 7
My local dealer doesn't have any instock at all that why i have to buying from other state. I know shipping $800 is killing the deal..
  • c_litec_lite Member Posts: 22
You know your local situation best. I would personally look a little closer to home - something that you can get to by driving. If not, well... best to you whatever you decide.
  • djheartbreakdjheartbreak Member Posts: 7
I am trying to have 1 of the dealer 6hrs from my home to match the AZ dealer price. Hopefully they excepted.
  • tanggutanggu Member Posts: 1
    I'm in Northwest region.
I talked to two dealerships about $5k incentives for coupe, both dealers are telling me incentive is only for $4500 not $5k
Does anyone know how to get that extra $500?
Did anyone actually get $5k for the coupe?
    :confuse:
  • gbrassgbrass Member Posts: 4
No I got 4500 off of invoice.

7880 off MSRP one week ago
  • fifreak3fifreak3 Member Posts: 9
Can someone please provide some clarification on this for me (taken from Edmunds):

"$2500 Dealer cash may not be combined with 0.00% APR - 3.90% APR and vehicle must be financed through the manufacturer's captive finance company"

This is probably a trivial question, but can I only get the $2500 if I finance through the dealer and get some rate above 3.9%? If I finance through the dealer at 1.9% for 60 months, does the dealer essentially forfeit that $2500 from the manufacturer, or does it just make the buyer ineligible for it?

I am guessing that everyone on this forum who is taking advantage of the extra $2500 is paying cash for the car and therefore not financing, or financing at some ridiculously high rate.

    Thanks for the help.
  • c_litec_lite Member Posts: 22
No, you do NOT need to take the financing if you don't want to. I was confused about exactly the same thing. It basically means if Infiniti is providing the $2500, it is unwilling to further subsidize the car by providing cheap financing. If paying $2500, they would only provide market rate financing or you are welcome to get financing elsewhere (which basically amounts to cash payment to Infiniti & the dealer)
  • fifreak3fifreak3 Member Posts: 9
Right, but if I am going to finance ~$20,000 for 4-5 years, wouldn't it make more sense to go with the 1.9% financing and pay slightly above invoice (i.e. not take the $2500 cash back) rather than go with the market rate through the dealer and pay ~$2500 below invoice?

Also if I go with the 1.9%, the dealer never sees that $2500, correct?
  • c_litec_lite Member Posts: 22
That's a math you gotta do.

    X - 2500 @ market%
    OR
    X @ cheap%

Find values for cheap, market, X, number of months and fire up excel :)

penfed.org > 3.99% loans. CapitalOne 4+% is worth checking out
  • fifreak3fifreak3 Member Posts: 9
OK, I understand the financing. But if I do take advantage of the low financing through the dealer, the $2500 is essentially not available to myself or the dealer. Is that right?
  • c_litec_lite Member Posts: 22
    That's my understanding, yes.

Purchased a G37x with Premium this week for +200 over invoice (not including the 2500 incentive).

Now looking for someone to partner up with for the AMEX gift card offer. Email me using my user name here @yahoo.com

    THANKS!

Sure would be nice if people would indicate what city and dealer they bought from. :D
  • ambuonoambuono Member Posts: 15
as u requested: West Chester, PA (only 1 Infiniti dealer in WC)
  • shakasshakas Member Posts: 2
Tanggu, I'm also trying to purchase in the Northwest, specifically in the Seattle area. They also told me that they have not received the $500 incentive, but they were aware of it. Can you tell me what you've offered them? Let me know if you'd like to get together and maybe we can get a better deal by purchasing together...:)
  • shakasshakas Member Posts: 2
Hey gbrass, can you tell us where you purchased your car? City and dealership? Thanks.
  • gbrassgbrass Member Posts: 4
    Sure....
    Infiniti of Cincinnati
Again it was $4500 off of invoice price ($7880 off MSRP)
(they wouldn't budge on the last $500 of the $5000 of incentives they get on the coupe)
Blue Slate G37x Coupe with premium and cargo net. They actually had another identical car on the lot which I made sure I pointed out to them. The car had under 10 miles on it fresh off a delivery.
    Only $100 Doc Fee too!!

I made my intentions clear about I was looking for a great deal on a great car. It took me 2 months and fianlly decided on the G37x coupe. Couldn't pass up the $$$$ off of this car, so I pulled the trigger.

Plus the $500 AMEX deal too...... ;)
  • cybernevetscybernevets Member Posts: 12
G37x coupe, Platinum Graphite, premium and cargo net.

Infiniti of Ardmore (PA). Same owner as Infiniti of West Chester.

    $4500 below invoice + $120 doc fees + TTL

Purchased a couple of days before the additional $500 was offered.

Received a decent value for my trade-in.

Waiting to receive the AmEx gift card (submitted).

I do all my own oil changes. I put a # on each receipt (for oil, filters, air filters, etc)
Each time I do a maintance item I log it into the Infiniti maintance book and I also put the # of receipt next to the log item. As long as you document the service and keep your reciepts you'll have no problems. The major services should be done & recorded at the Infinit dealer however. I use 5.2 quarts of 5w/30 Mobil1 full synthetic
and Mobil1 Oil filters, these are considered acceptable Nissan alternatives. A good forum for all things related to the G35/G37 would be g35driver.com they also keep you informed of any current service bulletins that apply to your model. Hope that helps & enjoy your great new car!

am thinking for my wife a g37x 4 dr with stkr 44310 what can i expect over/under invoice located in mass/nh
  • c_litec_lite Member Posts: 22
Forget sticker/MSRP. Invoice - 2500 + 300 is max you should pay. But people are reporting paying quite a bit less than this. But Invoice - 2500 + 300 is absolute max for a sedan.

what is this 2500 and what do they do as 2010 come out in 1/2 mo

    2010 in Jan, not a 1/2 month.
  • dealhunter5dealhunter5 Member Posts: 13
$44310! that must have every option possible. I just bought a G37x with Prem, Nav and Sport PCkg and the sticker was $42330. You should be able to get $6500 to $7000 off MSRP. Good luck!

Also looking for an Amex code to share if there are any left out there. Please email pauldealhunter@gmail.com.
  • addamsaddams Member Posts: 74
Can I bargin even a bit more if paying in cash?
  • littlejoe613littlejoe613 Member Posts: 53
There is a reason why the poster here said Good Luck after saying you should get $7k off! It wont happen You could possibly get $5k off on a sedan but you will just get frustrated if you go in expecting $7k off. Just got a $41000 sedan with Sport pkg at 4850 off MSRP with 2 weeks of haggling. Now if you are looking at a coupe that is a different story. Dealhunter5 did not get a 7 k discount on a sedan. He's full of it. (probably just another troller)
  • c_litec_lite Member Posts: 22
Also, I see a lot of people are just complicating the calculations by looking at sticker and what $ off sticker. That's the dealers job - to confuse you with sticker. Just look at Invoice - 2500 for sedan. Give some more for an ok deal, take some more for a screaming deal. When it is all done, calculate the $ off sticker to tell your friends on your way home in the new ride.
  • dealhunter5dealhunter5 Member Posts: 13
    Littlejoe613,

You can believe me or not but I just picked up a brand new 2009 4 Dr Blue Slate G37X with Nav, Premium, and Sport Packages yesterday (also had trunk mat and cargo net). Sticker price was $42330 and I paid $35600 +TTL with no trade in involved at all. That equates to $6730 off of MSRP. So please do not tell me I am full of it. I have the paper work and the car in hand to prove it. I am in MA and bought at Herb Chambers Infiniti in Westborough, MA. Did all the negotiation over the phone. They we great to deal with and never even pressured me to buy all of the add on crap like warranty and paint protection. Anyone local to the area should check them out.
  • littlejoe613littlejoe613 Member Posts: 53
I still think somethings up ....that means they lost $800-900 because you called them up on the phone. Maybe the economy in MA is so bad they just said "the heck with it lets just lose money at least we'll have a happy customer". It doesnt smell right. People post bragging about how great a deal they got when its BS. Last I checked car dealerships were a profit generating business not a charity. Sometimes I ve heard of deals like yours .... they involve a wreck or damage.
  • addamsaddams Member Posts: 74
As an example they have an invoice of $37,333 but a true dealer cost of $34,036 so even 1K over the true cost and the dealer is making money and that is still almost 2K under invoice. FWIW
  • gooddeal2gooddeal2 Member Posts: 750

That's about 10% less than invoice. Where did you see that info.?
