Takeme: Thank you for the kind words. And what you said is true as well. A car is transportation but for some reason our egos get in the way and we go insane over them..lol..In a few years they can turn into money pits with repairs, new tires, etc, etc. Bottom line..this should be a fun time and not a gut wrenching, life sucking out experience. I wonder if my Infiniti salesperson that started this will respond to my request for what I should really be paying or leasing the G35x for??..

By the way...does takemetolv mean to las vegas??...LOL.My favorite place to go...thanks again for the kind words...

Las Vegas it is - great place to go to get the stresses of buying a car out of your system. Maybe he'll give me a purchase price/lease price on my G35 sedan/auto/premium pack/XM?? They have some nice lease specials at IFS with very low MF, decent residual. Sure you can't combine those with the $2500 dealer cash, good carguy? Where is your dealership? Maybe you can score two quick sales here? ;)

"Where is your dealership? Maybe you can score two quick sales here?"

goodcarguy can't answer that question, or he'll get banned from the forums for soliciting...

We do appreciate good information from someone inside the business, though...

Gee,,they are touchy on here....lol...tho I can understand why..hi big brother..lol...meanwhile, there is no rationale ever needed to head west to Vegas...lol..will be heading that way at the end of Sept..Is IFS Infiniti Financial Services??..where are you seeing the nice lease specials..I just went there and they say to see the dealer..I just saw the APR deals on the coupe...any help from you in regard to the specials would be appreciated. I am off to the dealer to check out the car I am leasing/ buying tomorrow. I think the lease quote he gave me is too high..and without getting the 2500 discount it seems like buying the car is the answer. Any help from you takeme would be appreciated...I got a lease quote based on 34773, 39 mo,10k, 668.59 down, and 417.77 +tax per month, with a 57 res, and a 0.0093MF. When I try to make sense of the numbers they do not compute,,so I need the salesmanager to spell it all out in an email tomorrow before I decide. The other lease is with $5,081.49 down(2750 dep,550 acq fee,1,237.78tax, 217.50 dmv, and 326.21 1st payment same MF and res, sale price, MSRP 37,250, sale price 34773, 39 mo, 10k miles for $326.21 per month. Math was never my strength...lol....Your attempt to strike a deal here was commendable....lol....

What is your game of choice while in Vegas?...I am partial to blackjack, double deck...thanks for the help...

Sorry, kyfdx. Incognito, kyfdx and carman have been running these boards for years and the info is awesome, got to follow the rules. Roadfly.com is great site to get MF residuals, go to forums and I think they have the G35X numbers there too. ON G35 for 36mo/12K residual is 57%, MF is .00124. 24mo/12K is 67% MF is .00052. I think the 24mo lease is actually a lower monthly based on the same purchase price. You can calculate the lease on leaseguide.com. The trick is getting all the numbers from the dealer. If you tell them all you want is to pay the first payment out the door, roll all other costs in, then you can compare apples to apples. Sometimes they give you a low selling price but then tack all kinds of extra fees on and you don't know where you are at.

by the way, IFS is Infinit Financial Services and those are their numbers.

Thanks again..I am offering on the car tomorrow after I get all the lease figures sent to my email. This board is a great help for anyone shopping for a car. Thanks again for your help. To the moderators..you do a great job.

We just came back from the dealer and bought a 2006 G35x. It has the sunroof, painted splashguards and trunk mat for extra options. MSRP was $35,100, Edmunds Invoice was $31,607, we paid $30,500. I think we should have done better but it's my old lady's car, her money, she's presssed for time and ultimately her decision. If it was up to me I would have played out the charade, walked out and gone back another day. Here is how the numbers went; Salesman first said $32,557 last week, we came back today and offered $29,900, then he left to speak with the manager. He came back with $31,250. He claimed the dealer holdback was only 1.5% of the MSRP and the $2500 dealer incentive was not a sure thing for them to get. We wouldn't budge so he came down to $30,750 and then we agreed on $30,500. They are still making about $1000 I figure. He was a pleasant enough kid to deal with as far as car salemen go, but I think we still should have done better with the bottom line. However, I was mindful that the 2006 inventory is dwindling and the colors and options would become more limited to choose. It will be interesting after 9-5-06 when the $2500 dealer incentive expires. The car will probably be even cheaper is my guess. Thanks to all for the great info on this board and site.

I spent 7 years in the car business. I started in sales and ended as a consultant, training salespeople how to sell.

The fundamental problem, with the whole sales process is the people. Not that they are bad people but many times they are the wrong people for the job.

The customers are just as bad. A salesperson is really limited to being generally honest; but customers are encouraged to lie like rugs. I had a salesperson, a newbie, his third car, sell a Grand Cherokee. In the excitement of the moment he accidentally checked the little box on the buyers order that said 8cyl not the correct 6cyl. Eleven months later I get a call from the customers attorney asking "where's the V-8". The dealership ended up refunding the customers full amount and getting a Grand Cherokee with 23000 miles. There was no attempt at deception on the salesmans part but the law is on the customers side.

Another time I had an older lady, looking for her last new car before retirement. We went through the whole test drive with all the typical sales questions....
Have you been shopping anywhere else.... NO
Do you know what your car is worth .....NO
    ETC, ETC, ETC.....
We get back to my desk and I present her with some numbers.
She opens her purse and starts pulling out business cards from 4 other dealerships...So and so said this; and so and so here said that....
I got up, gave her her keys and asked....
Would you ever do business with anyone who would treat you with such disrespect and contempt......NEITHER WOULD I...Have a nice day and then I asked her to leave.

I would hire 30 people to start a training class, after the first day I was down to 15. After the first month I was down to three. Too many auto salespeople are not car people, they are selling cars until their next job; iyt is not a career choice but an employment stopgap. How can anyone effectively sell a product that you are not enthusiastic about. How can anyone sell a product that they dont know anything about other than the key goes here and the gas goes there.

A good salesperson will not greet you at your car as you arrive at the dealership. A good salesperson is usually too busy with previous customers and referrals to stand at the door hawking ups(customers).

The best way to find a good salesperson is to ask others who own the type of car you are considering buying where they bought theirs and how they were treated. Dont be afraid to ask someone at the gas station or in the parking lot at the mall, If someone has an opinion they will usually be glad to share it, good or bad.

People do business with people, it doesn't matter what your selling, if I dont like you I wont buy. If I do like you and feel you have your best to help me make an important and expensive decision I will probably pay a little more.

An educated coinsumer is also an important part of the whole process. In this day an age of instant access to information there is no excuse for allowing yourself to be taken advantage of. You can get the actual invoice for any car in the world as well as the value of your current car in a matter of minuites. Information is power. BE POWERFUL.

If you dont understand the information you receive there are forums such as this with lots of information and opinions. Consider that in your lifetime you may buy 10 cars, a crummy salesperson sells 10 cars a month. The deck is stacked in their favor due to your lack of experience and information. ARM YOURSELF.

You are in control of the process, get informed and get a good deal, be ignorant and get taken advantage of, your choice.

There's probably good information in your post, but I read lots of threads -- I normally skip one like yours.

Use paragraphs. They imply (possibly falsely) that you have a well-thought-out position to discuss, point by point.

Remember that those of us in North America have (very) short attention spans. Plus which, everyone has a need to ingest information in useable bits.

Phone numbers, credit card numbers & all other numbers had better be in 3- or 4-digit groups, or they become hopeless to work with, as you may have noticed.

Hello, I am looking at a 06 coupe, auto, premium, splash guards, trunkmat. The price they have come down to so far is $35,879 from the MSRP of $37,879 which I dont think is terrible.

I would like to purchace, but I do not want payments of over $500/month and I will most likely just want the 07 when they come out next year, so I am considering a 1 year lease to hold me over until then.

Here is where we ended up.

    Sale Price: $35,879
    Money Factor: .00184
    Residual Value: $29,941
    25k miles
    $3,000 due at signing
$470/month (actual number was $469 something, I just rounded up cause I dont have the exact number here with me)

Is this about right for the sales price and lease numbers? I seem to recall seeing about the same car with lower 1st payment on here...

    Thanks in advance!

Oh yea, Liquid Platinum with Slate if you care to know :p

I just want a make comment on what you said that " the law is on consumers side". I think it may be true if you can afford a good lawyer. Most of the time law is on business side because they are the ones who have army of lawyers (the same people who work for them also write the laws or access to people who write and pass the laws). Just go to different forum and read how frustrated people are when they have a problem with their new car.
Yes, there are nasty costumers every where but it doesnt justify to treat everybody the same way.

My experience with some of these dealers is that they think they are "god" and know everything. Some dealers are real good with prices and tell you upfront while other "infiniti" dealers just give you the run-around..Some can't even come up with same monthly lease payments that others got and I got..say it's impossible...For a same 06 coupe I got monthly payments ranging from $520/mo to all the way down to $366/mo for the same car, same terms, etc...Some of these dealers think they can just rip you off...But not me...I've had too much experience with doing leases and know when I see a dealer trying to rip you off. Because when I reply back to their emails to let me know the residuals and money factor they use,,they disappear from the face of the earth...That's so funny..Some of these guys think they are doing you a favor by quoting you outrageous quotes...but I know many people fall for that...Bottom line is do your research and shop around. Some dealers want to move cars and others are just too stingy with their numbers and won't budge...At least in SoCal we have so much competitiion that it helps the car buying experience.....

aw0ng - where did you get this deal? in the market for a similarly equipped vehicle and that seems like a pretty nice price. what are taxes where you live?

    thanks!
  • mrtrancemrtrance Member Posts: 199
Here in SoCal I've been quoted on a similar car like yours w/ the addition of XM radio (MSRP of $38,140) for $34,550. That's $300 below invoice. The 1 year lease would be $366 (includes 7.75% tax) for 12mo/12k with $1333 drive off. Residual of 83% and MF of 0.00149.

I got this deal in Infiniti of Peninsula and my tax rate is 7.75%
  • ncognito13ncognito13 Member Posts: 66
Any thoughts on this lease I was just quoted?? Thanks for any opinions....

The Calculations on a 39 month 10,000 miles per year lease are as follows:

    MSRP 37,250.00

    Lease Price 34,773.11

    57% Residual 21,232.50 ( 37250 x .57)

    Depreciation 13,540.61 ( 34773.11 - 21232.50 )

    Depr./Tax/Acq 15,494.27 (13540.61 + 1403.66 + 550)

    Payments-

    Depreciation 397.29 (15494.27/39)
    Rent 53.90 ( money factor .00093 = 2.23%)
    Total Pymnt. 451.19

    Total Due at Delivery = 668.69 ( 1st 451.19 + DMV 217.5)

Please let me know if you need any further clarification of these numbers!

Thank you for the oppurtunity to earn your business.

PS. Cash purchase price is 32608 + Tax and DMV

I am getting this deal from one of the dealers out of the state:

2006 G35x with Premium Package C, Painted Splash Guards and Trunk Mat w/ Full Size Spare.
Price of car + destination charge ......31911.00
    title fee.................15.00
    temp tags..............10.50
    doc fee..................100.00 Total.....................32036.50

Since I am purchasing it out of the state and in cash, the dealer will not collect state sales tax on out of state residents, and I will be responsible for the tax when I register the car in my state.

I have not purchased any vehicles out of the state, can someone please tell me how the registration process will be different? Am I going to have to pay extra since it is an out-of-state purchase? Thanks.

Since the 07 Sedans are on their way this Fall, Infiniti has been coming out with different incentives each month. This month it is $2500 cash back off of the sedans until 9/1/06. Does anyone know what incentives will be made available next month?
  • werterwerter Member Posts: 8
from what i understand, you pay the sales tax @ whatever your state + city rate of the car sales price when you go for the tag at the local office. Any tax paid out of state can be deducted from this amount.

make sure you have factored in the $2500 manufacturer to dealer incentive in the price.
  • ncognito13ncognito13 Member Posts: 66
    Would you do this deal...446 a month, 39 mo, 10k a year with a residual of 21,232 57%, 2.23 int,msrp 37,250...cap cost 34,600...663 at signing..any opinions would be appreciated.
  • jason31480jason31480 Member Posts: 9
Werter, thanks for the info. BTW, the price I listed is after $2500 incentive. The internet sales manager was really helpful and reasonable. I am planning to finalize the deal this Saturday. This form is really AWESOME!! :shades:

Not sure what state you live in or where you bought the car but most "neighboring states" will do DMV work for each other.

I live in South Jersey; so the dealers in the Philadelphia area as well as those in Delaware will do the other state taxes and DMV work. This only works in a regional area, I couldnt go to Harrisburg(central Pa) and expect them to do NJ DMV work but the dealers in Philly will.

All you have to do is check with your states DMV services. Sometimes this can even be done online. There should be no extra costs associated other than the cost of the temporary non-resident registration you are probably driving around on.
You will also need to get your vehicle through a state inspection if your state requires one. You may be able to contact the local dealer and have them inspect your car, but may cost you a few dollars.

    Good Luck,

What's a good deal for a base 6MT Sedan in SF Bay Area, anyone had good exprience with the local dealer. And what's a reasonable doc. fee?

    Thanks,
  • murrowmurrow Member Posts: 72
NO doc fee is reasonable. Doc fees are a scam. I always make sure to make it clear that the price I negotiate is the price I'm going to pay plus tax and tag ONLY. That way, there are no surprises. But frankly, I don't really care how they show it on the paperwork, as long as it all adds up the same. The "doc" fee is a sleazy tactic dealers use to milk a few hundred dollars more from a customer who already thought all the money matters had been settled.

Dealers call it a "doc" fee and people pay it. If they called it what it really is, "additional dealer profit," no one would. As far as I'm concerned, the cost of filling out paperwork is PART OF THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS. Next, they're going to charge you for using their pen to sign the paperwork that they're already charging you for.
  • gabriellogabriello Member Posts: 10
Went into a metro Atlanta dealership and without negotiations was offered this price on a new 06 Prem Pkg B w/ NAV G35 sedan...MSRP: $38,200.. Invoice: $34,790.... Selling price: $32,986... Is this good or what? I know that since this is what the salesman brought to the table... that he has room for more negotiations..I don't want to low ball him but I know that I can get it for cheaper.
  • javacjavac Member Posts: 34
I'm considering the same car. I recently received an online quote from a dealer in Charlotte. New '06 G35 Sedan w/Prem Pkg B...MSRP $36,200..he offered me "only $32,500". This is without NAV though so yours is a better offer. Like you said, you still have room to negotiate though. I read somewhere that there's a $2500 rebate this month??
  • cosmothecatcosmothecat Member Posts: 13
It's a $2500 "manufacturer to dealer incentive"...technically not cash back to the consumer. The dealers will whine they won't get the incentive unless they sell x amount of G35's or whatever. Don't let them BS you. I know they should make a reasonable profit on the car but factor it into YOUR price.
  • pfirzzpfirzz Member Posts: 1
I used this board a lot, so I figured I'd post the price I got on my recent purchase to help out future buyers.

I got a new G35 Coupe 6MT Premium Package w/ Sirius radio, diamond graphite.

I paid invoice +$800. I called around ~8 dealers (all in Texas), and the lowest price over invoice ranged from $300 to $1000, with the median at $750 over invoice. I could probably have negotiated more off my deal, but I found the exact package/color I was looking for and the dealer was the closest to my home and pleasant enough to deal with. A couple notes: dealers will try to stick you with the tinting/clear bra installation/satellite radio. Pay at most $200 for the tiniting, $400 for the clear bra. Also, dealers will tell you they have to charge ~$600 to cover cost for a satelite radio if not factory installed. Mine was not factory installed, and the dealer agreed to match the invoice price of $302 for a new installation.

Overall, a very pleasant buying experience, and the car rocks.
  • gabriellogabriello Member Posts: 10
I am going to start negotiating this weekend with next week being the end of the month and forecast calling for rain on the 31st, I hope that I can get them down to where I want them.
  • cosmothecatcosmothecat Member Posts: 13
Well, good luck to you. Bear in mind that the dealer incentive ends 9-5-06 (although they may come out with a better one after that...or worse), the calendar quarter ends 9-30-06 (if they need to fill a quota by then), the 2006 color and options will be more limited as time goes on, and I heard the 2007 G35's are coming out in November sometime (I assume they will be more expensive.)
  • ncognito13ncognito13 Member Posts: 66
was told that they will be $1500 more for the base model by my dealer.I was thinking of waiting but I leased the car now. This board was a big help. Thank you to all...and to all...good luck with your cars....

More help on the 2006 G35 Coupe 6MT w/ Premium, Navigation, Rear Active Steer, Aero, Splash Guards, Trunk Mat. All that's missing is a satellite radio package.

I called all dealers around Chicago. I could get a black/stone with a some options for invoice. But I wanted that piece loaded and black on black. I paid $1,000 over invoice. I also had to wait two weeks.

I too had a pleasant buying experience. I did spend too much time at the dealership. However, this car does rock!
  • ncognito13ncognito13 Member Posts: 66
....a word of caution. When you pick your car up please be certain that the car is perfect or almost such.

I just returned from picking up my car, G35x, twilight blue and the rep that was delivering my car, for my sales rep.wanted me to sign everything before I saw the car. Be sure you see the car before you sign anything. My car, though polished and detailed was a mess. Paint had some sort of blemishes all over the hood and trunk, there was a scratch. Bottom line....did not take the car.

GM came out and looked the car over and said, i swear he said this,"we can switch the hood for you." Hmmmm, lets see almost a 40k car and he wants to switch the hood??? Nice try but nahhh. Then the old " want a different color routine and I'll throw in the satellite radio?"....hmmmmm...no thanks, I want the twilight blue.

Now, there is a dilemma as I cannot take delivery of the car until after Labor Day due to prior committments. Guess he doesn't get that car in Augusts billing...tsk, tsk.

Just a simple suggestion when you go to pick up your NEW CARS. Before you sign anything, be sure your car looks the part of a NEW CAR and is in perfect shape for delivery. After all you are spending what $35K-40K you should be getting what you pay for.

Now where is that Infiniti salesman on here that asked what I did for a living and that no one should be expected to work for free. What say you about this bit of nonsense I had to put up with with my NEW CAR....Hmmmmm????
  • javacjavac Member Posts: 34
    New G35 '06 Sedan, Prem. C Pkg w/Nav, XM radio & Wood trim..$32.5k....Residual 67%, Money Factor .00052, 24 mths
    I think MSRP a little over $38k.
  • javacjavac Member Posts: 34
For the G35 Sedans...dealer is saying it's for purchases only, not leases. Is this true?
  • ncognito13ncognito13 Member Posts: 66
I was told the same...only applies to purchases....
  • aw0ngaw0ng Member Posts: 6
First of all thats true man. Infiniti is a expensive car man. Your right man they did the same to be too but finally i got them to give me a brand new car. so don't let the dealer fool you at all. Play with them don't let them play you.
  • gabriellogabriello Member Posts: 10
Ok, Is it realistic to have the sales man apply the $2500 rebate to the price that he brought to the table? Or do you think that he has already applied that into the price that he offered? I am trying to get this car for as close to $30,000 as I can. With the 07's coming out... all of the discounts that the dealer offers just represents the depreciating value of the 06's when the 07's come out. Come November this car might not value $30,000
  • javacjavac Member Posts: 34
I see where you are coming from. I wonder the same thing. We agreed on a price over the phone & I mentioned the rebate then. But then the dealer called back saying $2500 holdback only applies to purchases...since I want to lease he wants to up the offer...I called Infiniti Corp & funny thing is they couldn't verify the offer at all. The guy said the "system is updating for Sept. offers so the Aug. ones aren't in the system anymore." ???

Picked up my G35x in Infiniti of Cincinnati today. It comes with Premium Package C, Painted Splash Guards and Trunk Mats w/ Full Size Spare. THe final price is $32,036.50(includes doc fee, Temp Tag, Title fee, I live in Indiana, so I have to take care of the tax myself). It was the best car buying experience I've ever had(the previous ones have not been so pleasant at all). Anyway, I'm totally in love with my G35x, and thanks for all the useful info. :shades:
  • thisisnutsthisisnuts Member Posts: 15
Was offered a G35x+Premium Package C + Powered Sunroof for 32,500. No Nav. I wasn't aware of the $2500 rebate at the time, so I'm not sure if this is included. So good deal or not.

Would anyone jump on this deal? It's either this or a 2006 Acura TL w/Nav for $32,000 before tax and title.

I drove the TL and found a little hesitation when I press on the gas in traffic. Not sure if this is what Edmunds.com referr to as "could use more low-end torque".

    The AWD seems inviting.

    Any feedback appreciated.
  • gabriellogabriello Member Posts: 10
The $2500 offer is good until 9/5/06 so you have until Labor Day to still take advantage of this offer. More than likely the dealer has already taken into consideration this rebate and offered you $32,500 but I think that you still have room for negotiations. BTW what region do you live? I know that you could probably get a better deal here in Atlanta for that same car, however not too sure if the AWD is in inventory down south.
  • thisisnutsthisisnuts Member Posts: 15

So I guess this isn't such a hot deal after all. How low do you think I can go with this quote?

just purchased a G35 sedan automatic with sunroof, splash gurads and trunk mat thrown in - invoice $30607 for $26200 before taxes. no dealer fees either

Dealer didn't have my color w/o sunroof. so threw in the sunroof for the earlier agreed upon price. :) really grt experience.

This forum was extremely helpful for me so I wanted to post my experience. We went to the dealer prepared & had a very good experience. Info is based on 24 mth/12k mile/yr lease
    '06 G35, Prem C Pkg, w/NAV, Wood Trim
    Invoice $38,200
Edmunds TMV report was $34,239 so we said we wouldn't pay more than that.
    Initial Cap Cost $34,200
    Residual 67%
    Money Factor .00052
I also got $4,000 for my trade-in (CarMax tried to low ball us and offered only $2,000)
No $$$ out of pocket...they took my 1st mth's payment ($289.13) out of the trade in.
