Sorry for your experience, but I'm not surprised by the lousy customer service of Chevy Chase Acura. I believe the ownership / management was from the former Euromotors Acura and they took me to the cleaners a couple of times.

On the "thanks" side, I masde the mistake of going over there just to look at the new TL and I'm getting repeated e-mails of "how can we sell you?". Like the TV ad with the guy "Sooo, how much software do you want to buy today?".

I plan on reprinting your post and sending it to them with the statement that if they can't take care of current customers, they don't deserve a new one.

I am in the market for 2004 Acura MDX (Touring with DVD Entertainment system). Can anyone give an idea of the best price I can negotiate with local/nearby dealers? I am in Houston, TX.

    Thanks in advance.

That's why even though I live in DC, I purchased my MDX from Lindsay Acura in Columbus, Ohio. As far as service, I would recommend Tischer Acura in Laurel. I purchased my 2002 TL-s there, and I have both the MDX and TL serviced there as well as my 1990 Integra before that. When I took my TL in for 15k service, Chevy Chase quoted me a price of $260. Tischer was $145! I just took the TL in for 30K service this past Wednesday, and they(Tischer) gave me a 2004 TL loaner!(If you want one make sure you request it 3 days in advance).
  • habitat1habitat1 Member Posts: 4,282
Thanks for the recommendation. Would Tischer provide a service loaner for your MDX, given that you didn't buy it there?
  • habitat1habitat1 Member Posts: 4,282
Please post your actual price, less tax and tags, since those vary significantly between DC, MD and VA.

I'll take a stab and translate your $46,000 into approximately $42,900 n/i tax and tags, assuming the worst - DC tax at 7%. That seems very high, barely under full MSRP. Am I missing something?

For comparison, I have a standing deal for any MDX at $1,000 over invoice from the same Pennsylvania dealer I am considering purchasing a TL from. That would put the price of the Touring w/ Nav & RES right at $40,000 ("On the road" price of $42,950 here in DC.).

However, after watching my sister in law's two kids glued to a portable DVD at a restaurant the other night, I'm tempted to go with Nav and forego the RES. I don't want my kids to have their brains turned into mash potatoes with constant TV/DVD entertainment. As such, the price of the Touring w/ NAV would be $38,650 ($41,500 on the road).

How did yours get up to $46k??

    Hi!

Though I have been surfing this site have never found time to post my buying experience. You know it well, was deep into my MDX that I purchased 3 weeks back.

I picked up a 2004 MDX Touring w/NAV & RES for $42,600 on-road with a few free accessories like the alloy wheel locks, all-season mats and cargo net.

I purchased my vehicle from Radley's Acura without any hassles. The good thing about them is that they offer free oil-changes and state inspections for life and also get you free loaners if requested in advance.

I drove back last week to get a moon-roof visor and the team there got me a free detailed wash-up done.

I think I like them. Sorry no names of the salesman allowed...Feel free to ask me though - my email is public!

Will post in a few pictures shortly.

(PS: I deleted my earlier post as I made a major typo in the price. I posted $46,000 instead of $42,600. I'm so sorry.)

The break-up was as follows -

    Dealer Quote $40,590.00

    Destination $545.00
    Processing $95.00
    Registration $150.00
    VA Tax (abt 3%) $1,217.70

    On ROAD $42,597.70

    Sorry Habitat1, Major typo involved..
I have now reposted the actual prices.

    Thanks,

The '00 ML430 was one of the worst SUV's, in fact one of the worst vehicles we've had the dis-plasure to drive. Fortunately it was a lease (a way too long lease). I'd be happy to provide more info off the list as this is not the place for it.

I am looking at getting a MDX with NAV and through Sam's Club you get get any model for 4.5% over invoice with no haggling.

    MSRP $41,200
    INV $37,112

    Sam's Member Cost $38,782.04
                 Dest $ 545.00

    Total $39,327.04

That is where I will start my negotiations... Does that seem reasonable?
  • inemerinemer Member Posts: 44
I recommended you to call around. I get better deal straight from dealer with out any SAM'S, COSTCO, or Auto Club. My total with destination (MDX with Nav) was 38,600 ($1000 over invoice) + Running boards + wheel locks = $39,100
  • edog11edog11 Member Posts: 12
Tischer does provide a loaner for the MDX even though if you don't purchase from them. I followed eddiemac in purchasing my MDX from Lindsay Acura in Ohio. I phoned Tischer before I actually purchased to ensure I would get a loaner when I brought it in for service and they said yes. My wife took the MDX in for an oil change at 3750 miles and they gave her a 2004 TL loaner. Not bad, but she liked her 2002 TL better, go figure.
  • eddiemaceddiemac Member Posts: 141
Thanks for the save! i was about to reply to Habitat1, but you took care of that for me! I learned something new as well; I usually wait for the oil change, but next time I will ask for a loaner as well! By the way, I agree with your wife; I like my 2002 TL better as well! The 2004 is nice, but I like my Tl just the same. Check your e-mail, I am about to send you something.
  • habitat1habitat1 Member Posts: 4,282
Thanks for the info on Tischer. Now, tell me why you like the 2002 TL better than the 2004? I just got word that the 2004 6-speed Nav I am considering is being built and will be available in approximately 2 weeks. I need to confirm the deal ($1,000 over invoice) with my dealer.

I myself would never have purchased the previous TL, primarily because of the lack of a manual transmission, but for other reasons as well. I was set to buy a 530i sport until they "bangled-up" the design. The 2004 TL, FWD notwithstanding, seems like a very attractive combination of sport and luxury. What am I missing??

I Paid $38,545 for Touring w/ Nav in January.
  • dhanderdhander Member Posts: 41
I have negotiated for a touring with Navi (Without the Sam's reference... Thanks for the advice inemer!)

    Here is the details:

I offered $38.5k for the car and was countered with:

    $38,856.00 incl Dest +TTL

    This included:
    All season floor mats
    Cargo Tray
    Body side molding
    Cargo net
    Wheel locks

What does everyone think??? $356 from my offer, either I'm a great negotiator or I'm missing something...

    Thanks!!

    Congratulation!
    Enjoy your new car.
  • dhanderdhander Member Posts: 41
Do I need to request the splash guards additionally or are they included? I don't see it as an option on Acura's website.
  • inemerinemer Member Posts: 44
They included in a touring package (I think) :-)
    I just ordered from Hondacuraworld.com
    Acura MDX Cargo Cover $116.70
    Acura MDX Cargo Net $37.70
    Acura MDX Sunshade $32.00
    Shipping: Handling: $3.95
    Sales Tax: $0.00
    Total: $190.35

I think there should be better deal (like the inemer's) then a quote of $39158+tax. Anyone?

Don't getme wrong; the 2004 TL is a nice car. The things that I like the 2002 more than the 2004 are all cosmetic things; the mechanical stuff on the 2004 is awesome! i had a silver loaner with black interior. I am not a big fan of black. My 2002 is dark green with parchment interior. I like the look of the lighter interior. If the loaner had a lighter interior, I would probably feel different. I also like the fact that you can get a manual in the 2004. My wife, however, drives my car(and I drive her MDX) and she cannot drive a stick.

I am about to go shopping for a Touring with Entertainment system (no Nav) in the DC suburbs (Northern VA specifically). I'd love to have a reasonable price that I should aim for when negotiating. Any thoughts?
    Thanks!
  • raywrayw Member Posts: 9
I shopped around in CT, NY and NJ. In CT the best price I got was 40.8 (with free oil changes). In NJ I was able to get 40.2 (with cargo tray, all weather mats, wheel locks etc.)

The spread on the lowest to the highest bids were from 40.2 to 41.2. Most of the bids were clustered around 40.8. CT seemed to have the highest prices, followed by NY and then NJ.

I put a deposit down on the car today, and am planning to pick it up in NJ on Sat. I will put in a final word on the transaction and dealer after I pick up the car.

Rayw, like to know which Acura dealor in NJ is offering for
40,200 Touring with Nav and RES in CT with Cargo tray, all weather
mats, wheel locks. I am looking for one with same options.

Edward, like to know which dealor in Pennsylvania
is offering for 1,000 dollars over invoice.
  • etiqetetiqet Member Posts: 1
I'm seriously considering purchasing the MDX Touring w/ RES within the next couple of weeks. Anyone from the Boston area willing to share purchasing experiences and pricing that I can expect to pay?

I'm actually not sure if I will buy or lease yet, so if anyone has thoughts on either, it would be greatly appreciated!
  • raywrayw Member Posts: 9
    Ravi:

I picked the car up today from Precision Acura. The transaction went smoothly. Final price was 40,318 (including documentation), inclusing cargo tray, mats and wheel locks. That is 1000 over invoice, which was my target price.

If you can give me your email address, I will send you info on the Salesperson I worked with. I was pretty happy with him.

If you can give me your email address...

I suggest making your own email address visible in your user profile. That way anyone who wants to contact you can do so without publishing their own email address in a public message.

I am about to purchase an MDX Touring with NAV and RES. Acura of Bedford hills is my local dealer and I plan to bring the car to them for service. Would appreciate any feedback regarding service and buying experience.

    Ray:
I have updated my profile with the email address. Can you send me the
salesperson at the Precision Acura. This was the dealor referred by
carsdirect. The saleperson assigned to me didn't want to share price
in the email. He wanted me to come personally.

Also, have you taken loan from Acura. At what interest rate did
Precision Acura offer you. I can get 3.75% at Capital One.

Just bought a 2004 MDX with Nav for $39400 at Stevens Creek Acura. Dealers in our area are really tough to negotiate with because of high demand and therefore luck of popular color combinations. I was looking for silver/quartz and could not find ANY within 100 miles ! Made a reservation and got it within 2 weeks.

Best deal I was able to found here is $39200.

I just got home from picking up my own Touring RES & NAVI.

    Paid 40,100 Included:
    Cargo mat
    All weather floor mats
    Cargo Net
    Wheel Locks

I am planning to buy extended warranty on my MDX.
Any one knows prices or good deals
    Thanks in advance

    My experience

-watch out for phone or email offers that disappear when you show up("sold" or "never said that before")

-get your own finacing rate research done ahead and have back up to prevent a higher rate at the time of purchase.

-Some MDX in stock may have 80 miles on (especially when sale-person gave a attractive offers

Gorton, CT offered on T+nav for $38,654 + $189 fee + tax on two MDX in stock (was told that they have 70-80 miles on them when counter offered)

    Reading, PA offered T+nav for $38,800 + $65 fee + tax. 6yr/100,000 miles extended warranty for $1,454, 7yr/100,000 for $1,888 someting

Newport, RI offered $39,000 with running board but sale manager said that never was but $39,000 without running board

-buy it out of state if prices have large gaps. The free oil change can be calculated for value. (eg. $35 each then 35 times during 100,000 mile ownership roughly cost $1,225). It appears that the rest of maintainence services are charged.

BTW, thanks for the infromation from all thepostings

We're moving from FL to New Hampshire, right next to the Vermont border. The closest dealerships are all about 80 miles away and there are three of them. Has anyone had any experience with any of them, positive or negative? That would help us decide which one to buy from.
    Sunnyside Acura in Nashua, NH
    Lewis Acura in Burlington, VT
North Hampton Acura in North Hampton, NH

We will be purchasing an MDX in the next week or so and I am looking for any one who might have some experience with dealers in this area.

We are looking at the touring package w/nav and DVD. The dealer has almost convinced us that the after market DVD is better. We do like the fact that you keep the CD changer in the dash and out from under the seat. We figured that if we went this way we should still look at the pricing of the complete package because the dealer will take care of having the DVD installed. KBB and Edmunds both quote about $39000. I've shopped on line and been quoted the lowest about $1900.00 over invoice. I think that they can do better.

Does any one have any thoughts on this or any experience with prices in this area?

Pulled the trigger on a 2004 MDX Touring with NAV and RES and added following options:
    Wood grain steering wheel
    Running boards
    Tailgate spoiler
    Burlwood shift knob

Total price before tax and tags - 41,595 (refused to pay the dealer processing charge)..

Deal from Rosenthal Honda in Gaithersburg - also got blue book for my trade...overall, a good experience.
  • sequoiamansequoiaman Member Posts: 12
I am about to commit to the following deal:

Touring w/NAV and RES - $39,000 (incl destination)

Plus $2,162 additional for Body side molding, ProPac, Spoiler and Chrome side steps.

Total cost including destination - $41,162.

Now I am trying to decide if I want to lease, buy all cash or finance.

Any feedback on pricing would be appreciated.
  • habitat1habitat1 Member Posts: 4,282
The price you are listing for the vehicle $39,000, is $8 below invoice - a phenominal deal, as the best I've found is $750 over invoice.

However, the $2,162 in options sounds like a big time rip off. I'm not sure what the "ProPac" is, but side steps and body side molding would be less than $750 at my dealership and the spoiler is useless dressing.

Overall you probably have a decent deal, but you are going from a great deal on the vehicle to a lousy deal on the options. Your choice, but I'd take it without any add ons if I could.

Would apprecite feedback on best lease rate or money factor for Acura MDX lease in New york state
  • navynavy Member Posts: 4
I agree that you have a great price on the MDX touring w/NAV and RES for 39,000 - dollars below invoice. I also agree that the option pricing seems high - I would work on itemizing the option prices and use www.handacuraworld.com for option cost information to help guide what you think is reasonable.

Also curious what "ProPac" is...We also got the spoiler, although some may consider "useless" - cost was about the 325 installed range. Can't comment on the other options but check around first...

    Good luck
