The price for your options are very expensive. We purchased a 2003 MDX touring w nav and res. We got the propac for free, body side moulding for $150 installed, black side steps for $559 installed. we did not get the spoiler. As someone stated in an earlier post, go to www.hondacuraworld.com, and print out their price list for those options, and ask your dealer to match the price. If they are unwilling, then just order the accessories from the website. You can download the instructions for free and do it yourself, or you can make an appointment at any Acura dealer service dept. and pay the labor rate to have them install everything. I just checked the site, and the moulding is $110, the spoiler is $297.70,, and for,an additional $125, they will paint it the same color as the MDX. The chrome side steps are $487.50 Your total cost would be $895.20- plus $125 if you wanted to have the spoiler painted. To compare numbers:
your current price for options- $2162 Price if you order options AND get the spoiler painted- $1020
Difference- $1142
I doubt that any service dept will charge you $1142 in labor for the installation of those items. Plus the shipping is free.
The individual price for the pro pack items are: wheel locks- $35.50, cargo tray- $102.70, and all season mats- $91. Most people are getting the propack for free. We also received the cargo cover($116.70) for free.
I hate to sound skeptical, but your deal at $39,616 for a touring, NAV/RES with running boards and side molding sounds too good to be true, especially at Rosenthal. Is that for a brand new car (under 20 miles on the odometer) and a full price, excluding only taxes and tags??
My skepticism comes from the fact that Rosenthal is consistently named, along with DARCARS, as the worst family of dealerships in the Washington DC area. I had a personal experience with their Acura dealership back in the early 90's and managed to win a $1,500 claim against them for fraudulent service. Back when I bought a Honda S2000 in late 2001, their Virginia dealership claimed to be able to beat the deal I had at Sheehy Honda for a brand new 2002. When I stopped in, they actually tried to sell me a 2001 demo with the sticker removed, claiming it was an early production 2002 (with 300+ miles on the odometer). I was tempted to sign the contract so that I could take them to court again, but life is too short.
For the fun of it, I called their Acura dealership to see how close they could come to my current $1000 over invoice deal for a 2004 TL 6-speed with Navigation and their response was MSRP. That's probably the only honest answer I've ever gotten from them.
If you've managed to get a good deal out of Rosenthal for a brand new vehicle, good for you. But I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw an MDX.
It seems like Acura dealers are willing to deal these days. Not like a year ago when they would only go at most $750 below MSRP.
Here is what Chevy Chase Acura in MD is offering for Base MDX:
$34,745(includes dest. charge) $1042.35(3% tax since MD) $61.50 for tags $100 processing fee ----- $35948.85 is the total.
They are throwing in Cargo Tray and Wheel locks for free. Is this a good deal? I live in VA and it seems like Pohanka will try to do better than this deal. Have not received the price breakdown yet. Will post once I do.
I am about to buy a new 2004 Acura MDX in Northern Connecticut. Just a regular base model, but with running boards and roof rack installed. After a bit of haggling, I got a price of $35,000 (plus tax of $2100 and registration of $76.00) = OTD $37,176.00. Salesguy didn't offer any extras (and wanted to charge me $1200 for the rr and rb until I pointed out the web prices for those items). Anyone think this is the best price or can I do better? ANY info appreciated.
I'm located in Columbus, Ohio and i was just quoted a price on a new MDX w/Nav, wood grain steering wheel, running boards, and tow hitch of $41.7K. However, the invoice without the accessories is $37.6k. The dealer made it clear that they were making $2k over invoice including the accessories and that I wouldn't be able to find a better deal anywhere, let alone $200 over invoice. So needless to say I WALKED out. What is a good deal for the vehicle i want?
Navy, who was your salesman at Rosenthal? Like I told the salesman, the 6 hour drive would be worth $1800 to me.
You may mention the name of the dealership but NOT the names of salespeople or other contact information as indicated in the introduction at the top of this page.
which dealer in Columbus did you go to? I live in Washington, DC and we purchased a 2003 MDX w/nav and res from Lindsay Acura in columbus last August because no DC area dealer could come close to their price. Go back and read post#564 where I give all of the details. several people on this board who live in the DC area, as well as some other cites in the East have purchased from Lindsay as well.
I agree with eddiemac, you shouldn't have to leave Ohio for a good deal on an Acura. And if you read my post above, you know that leaving Ohio to go to Rosenthal is NOT something I would ever recommend. They are a sleezy dealership by more than just my standards, having been named by Washington Consumer Checkbook as the worst dealership to avoid. Hfrankel hasin't responded to my questions regarding his deal, so maybe he's busy with Rosenthal related problems. Look in nothwestern PA before you travel to DC.
I've just purchased a black MDX w/ touring pkg. I emailed for quotes all the dealers in DC area. Some replied with a quote, some just wanted me to come in and test drive. Overall, Pohanka's was the lowest, but Rosenthal (closer to my home) was able to match the deal. I was able to leave the dealer within an hour in a brand new MDX. Overall, Rosenthal was pretty competent and the internet sales manager was willing to give me the accessories at cost ($426 for running board).
Chevy Chase Acura has some incompetent sales staff and tactics. I'd not advise you go there unless they can beat others' quotes (they couldn't).
BTW, I've paid $37045 + Tax, Tag, and $95 processing fee and the MDX is worth every penny.....
Eddiemac, The dealership i'm referring to is Lindsay Acura. I bought my TL from them back in 2000 but my salesman is no longer working there, he moved to Florida. Can you give me the salesperson you dealt with name and info so i can contact him?
Is $2000 OVER invoice a bit MUCH for an MDX?
Also, thanks habitat1, I will also research dealers in PA as well. Maryland seems attractive to me b/c I will be traveling there in a couple of weeks, and if I could work out a deal by then I would pick the vehicle up while I was traveling.
I just received an internet quote from Lindsay ACura on a MDX touring package w/Nav wood grain steering wheel, tow hitch, running boards, and rear window deflector at a price of $41,479 plus tax, title, & registration. Is this a good price or not? seems HIGH to me.
Got an offer for $37,000 (includes dest. charge) plus processing fee ($249), tags ($53.50) and tax (3.17%) from Pohanka Acura in VA. Will get free wheel locks, cargo net and all season floor mats. Is this a good deal?
In the SF Bay Area it seems like a slew of MDX's are now available. Is this the summer selloff before the fall 2005 models come out? And it seems to be affecting pricing - At least one dealership mentioned to me that for a 2004 MDX touring with NAV, RES they could sell without any hassle for $41,500, which is about $2500 over invoice and $1700 under MSRP, but according to the Edmunds site, about what folks in the area are paying. This is pre-haggle, so I am guessing they could go lower. Anyone else in the Bay area looking now and is this a reasonable offer?
I live in SF Bay area. checked a few acura dealers. could get no more than a couple 100s below 39k. that's seems to be the best price in this memorial weekend. most dealers have 2.9 APR financing..
just got a MDX touring w/nav for 38980( including wheel lock) last night. I think the dealer was willing to consider 38800 but the salesman wanted to talk to other managers and I had to come back the next day. I didn't want to go ack to spend a few more hours. I think this is a good price in SF bay area. happy memorial weekend shopping
I got my sagebrush peal MDX today with $38505 at South Coast Acura, near Irvine, CA. We paid in cash so the dealer gave us wheel locks, cargo cover and all season mats for free! The tag/regi fee was about $350 and I don't know if it sounds reasonable. Anyway, we drove the beauty home with $41834.24 otd.
I Bought black MDX wth saddle from Jay Wolfe Acura in Kansas for 40,104 OTD excluding TTL. The whole deal was set up via email. Flew in yesterday and drove back to Denver. The dealership is very courteous and professional. Highly recommended. They added wheel locks, wide body side moulding, pin stripe and all season mats for free. Even arranged the pickup from the airport. The whole experiance was very pleasant. The forum was very helpful in neogotiations. Thank you all.
I purchased a X-5 for my wife last year, a touring MDX with nav for my daughter one month ago, and just leased a SRX for myself. I did all the research on all the SUVs. Paid $40,500 plus tag, title and tax on the MDX. This MDX has more features (awd, sun roof, 3rd seat, side rails, proven safety tests, plus Acura quality) than the SRX at the same price and much less pricey than X-5. The MDX has the most value of any SUV on the market and will hold its resale price better than any other SUV.
Great service and price from Lindsay Acura in Columbus, Oh using my Costco card to get an awesome deal. Sales person was fair and great to deal with on our new MDX Tour.
Thanks for all the info gained here. Bought a 2004 MDX with Navi and chrome wheels for 39,200 plus tax and license. My local dealer in Central Calif matched a quote from a So Cal dealer. Very easy process. Thanks again.
Hi all. I currently own a 2001 MDX, and am looking to replace it with a new 2004 or 2005.
Have any of you had any stellar success dealing with any Pacific NW Dealers?
Any recent purchase details? Back in 2001 the dealers here were selling the MDX's at a $2,000 premium above MSRP due to demand. Not sure if that was the case accross the country. Quite the "racket", in my opinion.
I just bought my first luxury vehicle, a Taffeta White MDX with Touring Pkge and Nav. I had sent out several queries via e-mails after my Honda Pilot negotiation went down in flames last weekend. The Wester Chester Acura dealership sent me a quote of $39,275, which was almost $2500 off the $41,745 MSRP. Got an adequate trade-in for my aging Explorer and will pick up the new vehicle tomorrow night. Can't wait to get it off the lot.
I live in the Atlanta area and got a quote for $34200 for a 2004 MDX. The invoice price is $33337, so the quote is $863 above invoice. Does it seem like a good deal? Does Acura usually give rebates at the end of the year?
I just purchased a 2004 MDX FOR $33928 (base MDX), the invoice including destination charges was $33337. I added the roof rack for $291 on top of that and the taxes, of course. It was the lowest I could get in the Atlanta area. The sales process was very smooth and it was a good overall experience.
I bought my 2004 MDX w/Navi from Libertyville Acura for 38,357.00 including destination. I also had them throw in the protection package(wheel locks, all-season floor mats, cargo tray). The sales staff at Libertyville are great. What ever you do, DO NOT go to Ed Napleton Acura in Elmhurst. Those guys are bad news. The salesperson actually said to me "the price is only good for today." As soon as I heard that I ran out of there. Guess who called me back 2 days later. I never returned the call.
I will say this. If it wasn't for the Ed Napleton's poor service, I would of never gone to Libertyville Acura. Thanks Ed Napleton for having such a second rate service.
I got it from Nalley Acura. If you are interested, send me an email and I can give you the salesperson's information. Are you looking to buy an MDX right now?
Researched and waited over a year to finally pull the trigger. Thanks to all who posted their price. Helped a lot to get my deal. Time to return a favor. I purchased my Premium MDX from Norm Reeves Acura at Temecula (Southern California) for $33,837 + $45 doc fee + TTL with Protection Package thrown in. This is $500 over invoice with free protection package. This was the best price I can get anywhere in Orange County/San Diego area. Transactions was very smooth and did all my negotiations over the E-mail and phone. Easiest car purchasing experience! And I'm happy as a pig in the mud about my X!
I am looking at buying a MDX within the next 1-2 weeks. Any help on best prices/deals in this area and good sales/service experience will be appreciated. Thanks
I bought an '04 base MDX at Open Road Acura in Wayne, NJ back in January for $2500 under MSRP plus a roof rack thrown in. This is about $800 under Edmunds TMV (if you count the roof rack), so I'm not sure how they are estimating the TMV. I also bought an Accord last week for $1800 under Edmunds TMV, so I am starting to think this TMV is fairly worthless and could end up costing you a lot of money if you base your negotiations on it.

Can anyone post what they have paid for an MDX with touring and NAV in Chicago area
I ended up going with the Navi and RES.
I bought it at Muller's Woodfield Acura in Hoffman Estates.
Email me if you want the salesman's name and email address.

What a great deal! Which dealer did you go to? Thanks very much.

Thkx.
Thanks
price: 38657 plus tag, tax.
thanks to all of you guys for posting messages here and i was well prepared before going to the dealer.
Thanks!
P.S. Congrats on the new MDX! Hope you enjoy it.
