    Hi:

Anyone in Northern California (Bay Area) that can share the prices and the dealerships they bought their MDXs from?

I'm looking for the Touring+NAV or the Touring+NAV+RES/DVD. Is it better to get the RES from Acura or should I be looking aftermarket so that I can get a better price (and possibly a bigger screen)

thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi,

I'm about to close my deal on MDX with a dealer. Their quote on following options are almost twice as Acura website MSRP.

    - Floor Mats $199 (msrp $117)
    - Cargo Tray $215 (msrp $132)
    - Wheel Locks $125 (msrp $49)
    - Running Boards $995 (msrp $549)
    - Tailgate Deflector $695 (msrp $379)
    - Cargo Liner $265 (msrp $195)

I understand it needs work to install running boards and/or tailgate deflector, but cargo liner??? I'm asking them to put them at the msrp, believing the more options, the more room for negotiation they have. Am I wrong? Am I becoming an 'inconsiderate' buyer, or are they screwing me? I appreciate your advice!

I am afraid your last question is what is happening.

Don't let them do it. Check www.hondacuraworld.com and you'll see what you can buy the accessories at. Obviously there's no "installation" effort on a cargo liner. It's not hard to install the running boards with the right tool, just a lot of bolts. The tailgate deflector can be intimidating but is still self-installable.

Sounds like you were one of the few and lucky who got a good deal from Chevy Chase Acura. The quoted me full MSRP on a 2004 TL w/Nav. I bought in PA for $2,100 less.

Just to confirm, was your $38,657 price for a MDX w/ Nav for a brand new vehicle, not a demo? What was the odometer reading when you took delivery?

    Thanks and congratulations.

I am negotiating for a 2004 Acura MDX with NAV and RES.
Is $40,000 + TTL a good price for a 2004 Acura MDX with NAV and RES?
I am trying to get him to include the side body molding too.
    What do you folks think??
  • yzhengyzheng Member Posts: 3
Yes, It is a brand new MDX with just 7 miles on it.

Thanks and congratulations to you too

I just bought a new MDX from Rosenthal Acura in Md. and got $2,200 off sticker and a free roof rack, on a base model MDX that they had several in stock. They treated me very well, however the trade in price for my 4 yr. old SUV was below KBB or Edmunds trade in value. It seems like nobody really wants a SUV with 70k plus miles , regardless of condition and upkeep, so my trade in price was about a grand less than the trade in price listed in the guides. I hoping to run this MDX at least 200k miles.

Any inputs for the pricing on a base MDX in the Portland OR (in the 200 mile vicinity) appreciated.

    Thanks

MDX FOR INVOICE PRICE + TTL
I got a quote from the salesman here that they were selling all MDX's for invoice price.
He quoted me 37K for the MDX Touring with RES
and 39K for the MDX Touring with NAV and RES.

    Hot OR NOT???
  • cmb64cmb64 Member Posts: 3
Sounds HOT to me. Which dealership in Dallas?
  • tidestertidester Member Posts: 10,059
A quote constitutes neither a price paid nor a buying experience. Let's stick to them in this Prices Paid & Buying Experience topic and dispense with the "come ons." Come back when you buy actually buy it.

AS somebody who is considering a lease, did anybody else here lease their car?

If so on the MDX what was the residual that they used, I am looking at jus the touring.

    Thanks

As of 6/24, Goodson Acura in Irving, TX is offering in-stock MDX's at invoice. This is apparently a month-end sales push. I purchased a 2004 base MDX yesterday at $33,337 from the Internet Mgr.

As a long-time lurker on this board, thanks to all who have shared their experiences.

Last night, we bought a brand new beautiful Red Rock Pearl MDX w/ Touring package for $500 above invoice from a Southern California- Orange County dealer. He added the wheel locks, mud guards and a paint protection package for $200, and the cargo net and the 4" body side moldings for $250. Total $35,677 + $200 Prot.Pkge + $250 body side mouldings/cargo net + $500 profit + $45 Doc fees + $289 license + $3007 tax= $39,968. Based on the few threads I read above it seems like a fair price. Any thoughts?

Well, I finally made my purchase -- a 2004 MDX Touring with Navigation for $38,500 + TTL. I bought it from Radley Acura in Falls Church, VA. Just thought I'd share since hearing others' experiences helped me set my price. Good luck!

Whats a good lease price to pay for a '04 MDX, Base Model, 48 month, 15K a year. I am looking to get the vehicle in the next day or two. Thanks.

Houtx, I have contacted Goodson Acura in Irving, TX and am planning on buying a base MDX also for the same price ($33,337). I have asked for an email providing pricing, financing, and additional charges, but have not received anything from them. Did you have any problems with them that I should be aware of? Did you trade a vehicle in? They require the deal be completed by Wednesday and I will be driving from New Orleans to Dallas. I don't want to get there and try the old bait and switch. Had that happen to me this weekend with a Honda dealer. Thanks for your input.

Would appreciate any pricing info for an '04 MDX Touring in Colorado. Thanks.
  • houtxhoutx Member Posts: 2
RE: Goodson Acura, I submitted a purchase request via their website. I received an email response pretty quickly and called the Internet Sls Mgr (name & number was on the email). Once he confirmed my color choice & price, I provided credit card # for deposit. When I showed up, the vehicle & price were as expected. They added some fees which I would have pushed back harder on if not buying at invoice+dest. Only big disappointment was their offer on my trade-in. I guess they were trying to make up for not making enough on the new car sale. Good luck.

What do you think a good price would be for a 2004 MDX Premium with 1200 miles, factory certified?
  • hushy555hushy555 Member Posts: 7
One of the best options to buy for your MDX is the body side molding (color matched to your MDX). I paid slightly under $200 at the dealer. It saves your MDX from all those door dings that will happen. Another important note: If you are trading in a vehicle for a MDX , make sure you shop around for the best trade-in price. Many dealers will sell you a MDX at near cost but will offer you hundreds and thousands less than the KBB or Edmunds trade in value.

I just bought a new acura for 33700 (base price )
+ 2200 taxes + 150 (all other fees). This is in Illinois chicago and the dealer is libertyville acura. The process was smootha nd enjoyable.
  • millerd66millerd66 Member Posts: 3
What is your state sales tax, not to be nit picky but in SC they only pay $500 no matter how much the car is.
  • cmb64cmb64 Member Posts: 3
$40286 (incl. destination charge and Protection Package)+ TTL
  • phillybigeasyphillybigeasy Member Posts: 31
Houtx, I drove up to Goodson Acura in Dallas and they had MDX Base all shiny and ready to go at invoice price incl dest ($33,337 + TTL) as promised. The dealbreaker was my trade-in, a 97 Eddie Bauer Expedition in excellent condition. They offered me $3000 and I walked out. If I didn't have a trade in, it would have been a great deal, however, as with your deal, they were making up their loss on the trade-in, which I couldn't accept. I will try to sell privately and give them a call at their next end of month sell off. The MDX will be my company car adn I don't need it until end of year, so I'm in no hurry to buy.

Thanks for your responses, it was a great help.

Could anyone share what Honda is offering on finance percentage. Every salesman I ask about the finance charge, they say they don't know. I understand the Fed just raised up the interest rate, but interested in what finance charge Honda offered recently.
  • geodonnellgeodonnell Member Posts: 16
    phillybigeasy,

I just financed at 4.05 through Honda on an 04 MDX Touring with Navi. You should also check out the financing tips on this site. There are several companies that offer same-day approval through the internet, with very competitive rates, and they basically send you a blank check via FedEx that you can bring to the dealership if you don't like what they're offering you.

    Good luck.

    Igor,

What is your email address? I am looking for a mdx in Southern California.
  • tidestertidester Member Posts: 10,059
Putting your email address into a public posting invites spam from the unscrupulous. It's better to make your email address visible in your user profile.

Ordered 04 MDX Redrock Pearl in early June and put down payment. Dealer stated it would be in by end of month. Salesman called said the car would be in on 24th. Didn't happen. Stated it would be in 26th. didn't happen. Stated in would be in 28 or 29. No go.
Then the saleman and manager reported they could not find the car but were sure it had made it into the state. As you can immagine I was pretty frustrated. They reported on July 2 that they had located it in nearby port and it would be delvered soon. Well its July 7th and Im hoping tomorrow I can pick it up. This purchase has almost been anti climatic. Paid under edmond.com TVM for Navi. Thinking they should knock a few more bucks off due to hassle. Any thoughts.

Just purchased 04 MDX with Navigation in Broward County for under Edmonds.com TVM at $39,400. Not much haggling at all. Was prepared with invoives and TVM.

    Hi,
I am looking to buy a 2004 MDX; but it seems that the local dealers here are asking for a lot more than what people are paying in other states. Any recent experience or dealer recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello All:

I've read numerous posts from people wanting to know if the price they paid was fair or not. I read a book once that suggested 2 to 3% over invoice is a fair mark up. With this in mind, I made 1 phone call to Ed Napleton Acura and purchased an '04 MDX AWD + Rear Entertainment System for $709 over invoice (slightly less than 2%). I used this same method 3 years ago to purchase a new '01 RX300 and I'm satisfied with the results.

Wheel locks and cargo net were thrown in and the final numbers worked out like this:

    $36,482 Invoice according to Edmunds
        709 Mark up
        545 Destination Charge
         54 Doc Fee
      2,551 Tax 6.75% Will/Dupage County
        143 Plates
    $40,484 Total price

I might have been able to haggle down a couple hundred more by pitting dealer against dealer, I don't know. But the deal was done in about 15 minutes and I was satisfied that I didn't get taken.

The salesman was great. He called all over the country to find what we wanted and it was delivered in about 2 weeks.

The sales manager did our paperwork and offered us Hondas best rate of 3.89%. That couldn't beat our credit union rates of 3.5%, so he held off on handing in our Honda financing until we could get him a check from the Credit Union.

I would be glad to recommend the salesman.

What is a reasonable price for a MDX in Westchester, NY/Southern CT. with the touring package, DVD, and navigation? The dealer has quoted 41,500 which seems higher than what folks have indicated on this board. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  • ddm2ddm2 Member Posts: 15
You did great! Can you ask your dealer to call up the dealers in Westchester, NY/Southern CT. and talk some sense into them? These guys seem to be on a different planet :-)
  • expilotexpilot Member Posts: 4
I purchased a Silver 04 Acura (Touring+NAV+RES)with 15 miles on it. I had settled on $39,400 as the base price for this (including the destination charge and with the protection package thrown in) - but when I walked into the dealership they had the wrong car ready (looked like a bait and switch) - they had PDId a car with running boards - and I asked them to give me the car while they wanted $700+ pulled out from some book which they showed me as the cost to the dealer. I finally paid $39,900 for the fully loaded car (before TTL, included cargo tray, cargo net, wheellocks, all season mats) so in effect I paid $500 for the running boards. Did I pay too much for the running boards?

Also I did this deal at the end of the month, and got to the first final price pretty quickly (all over the phone without stepping into the dealership) Marin Acura was short of winning this deal by little more than a couple of hundred bucks and that too they fired the sales guy in the middle of my negotiation and I had to restart the whole process. Most other Acura vendors tried the haughty approach -"we will not budge on our lowest quoted internet rate" (Stevens Creek, Acura of Oakland, Acura of Pleasanton)

I think I did well but want to confirm. Also the service from Acura Serramonte has been great so far

    Thanks
