Ditto. I'm looking to buy between now and the end of October. I may go for the 2005- have XM on another car and a bluetooth phone, or maybe I'll go for an 04 with a real good price.

I do want the touring w/nav and ent. system.

I'm looking for buyers of MDX touring models in the Atlanta area. What kind of pricing are you finding? What dealership did you use and was it a good buying experience? Thanks for your help.
  • sydneymdxsydneymdx Member Posts: 3
In July AZ local dealerships were quoting $500 over invoice. After a lot of research, I recently bought a 2004 Base Model MDX 2 days ago for $300 under invoice. What really help me determine where to start negotiations were from other members paid experiences. With 2005 models coming soon, I sure others can get even more off the invoice.

300 under invoice! if invoice is the dealer cost, then they must be getting rebates or other incentives from Acura. how can i find this out?
  • chadwick_07chadwick_07 Member Posts: 5
So you paid $33,000 even? I can't come anywhere near invoice here in NC for a touring model. Lowest internet price is $900 above invoice.

    Sydney,
What dealership and what salesperson did you get this great deal from? I also live in Arizona and have been looking for deals in the SouthWest. You can find my email address listed in my profile. Thanks.
  • sydneymdxsydneymdx Member Posts: 3
Edmunds and other sites will post manufacturer information on rebates, incentives, and other discounts. Unfortunately I did not see any of these for the MDX.

Every dealership I've contact in Phoenix and Tucson area were offering $300 over invoice on the phone. "We will beat anybody's prices" was my favorite line from every car sales men. I used it to my advantage.

    Where is AZ?
I purchased my MDX at Acura of Tempe. My experience at that dealership was very good. If you in the market for a 2004 Base Model better hurry:) However, they do have plenty of Tour Models left in the state.

Picked up our 2004 MDX base model Thursday 9/16 from Curry Acura in Westchester County, NY. Manufactured Aug. 04, purchased by dealer 8/27, delivered to dealer on 9/10 with 2.6 miles.

Sage w/ one option - wide color-keyed body side molding. Got it for $33,400. with the wide molding, or as our final bill-of-sale stated, $33,101. with $299. molding option. Either way, got it for below invoice. They went under invoice because it is our 3rd Curry purchase.

Add 7.5% tax, $12.50 NYS tire fee, $174. NYS title/plates/registration fee, $45. dealer title processing fee, full tank of gas (included on sticker), and 2.5 more technician-test miles and we were on our way... (That's the lowest miles I ever had on a new car. 2001 LLBean Outback had 10 miles, 1996 Honda Accord had 11 miles, 1992 Toyota Camry had 12 miles.)

All other dealers north of NYC would not go lower than invoice and wanted $299. for the molding...

Bought cargo tray, cargo cover and cargo net from H and A Accessories above. Dealer wanted too high a markup and my 7 yr. old daughter can install them...

    :-)

This car is big but rides smooth....

Good to hear about your positive experience with Curry. I am not sure if your search included Greenwich Acura because I was able to get a fully loaded MDX below invoice back in late July. I haven't yet bought the accesories and am wondering how easy it is to install the cargo cover and the molding. Can you clarify please? Thanks! Overall, great car, great dealer, great experience so far with Acura!

Hi otis123 What was the price you paid?
  • otis123otis123 Member Posts: 439
Hi otis123 What was the price you paid?

Like I said...$33101. plus $299. for wide body side color-keyed molding installed. Invoice is $33,336.
  • otis123otis123 Member Posts: 439
Curry installed the molding - I wouldn't have the nerves to do it. The cargo cover looks easy from the directions I got off the H&S website. It arrives tomorrow via UPS. I'll report later this week...

Greenwich Acura vs. Curry. We got it under invoice. I doubt they could have gone much lower without eating up the holdback. Plus, I wanted a dealer on the way to work in case I need rattles, adjustments, etc. done - another dealer would drag their feet...

Curry didn't do a great prep job. They didn't take off all the glue that holds the white protective plastic on the car in places - it rubs off easy, though. They also missed a dirt spot on the seat. Factory workers are dirty. The rugs were really dirty when we saw it before prep (with only 2.7 miles on it).

Have been getting quotes in the Boston Area for a 42-month lease on an '04 MDX premium (base model) as follows:

    money factor: 0.0022
    residual value: 58%
    acquisition fee: $595
    negotiated price: $33,600
    +registration fees

Does this sound reasonable? Not sure about the acquisition fee, is this a standard charge from American Honda Finance?

    Reporting back on installations...

    Cargo net: 5 minutes
    Cargo tray: 5 seconds :-)
    Cargo cover: 1 minute

The net drawing isn't true to the net design.

So, I saved $110. doing it myself vs. having Curry Acura do it - including shipping charges, etc. Worth it....just paid that for 2 Broadway tickets to The Frogs w/ Nathan Lane..

I'm in the Dallas area and just got a similar lease quote from a dealer on a 04 Touring w/ Navi:

36 months, 15k miles per year
    57% residual
    0.00221 money factor
Selling price: $39,770 (this is too high)
    $850 Cap Reduction
1.2% L&M Fee of the selling price (not sure what this is)
    No Sales Tax
    $670/month

Aside from the selling price, does this look like a decent deal? Thanks.
  • andrekandrek Member Posts: 2
I just got a quote from Acura dealer on Long Island for a base model MDX, no money down -- $500/month for 42 months.

Does that sound good? Apreciate any comments, advise suggestions etc...

    Thanks,

You have been very helpful. My order should be arriving tomorrow via UPS and hopefully I will be able to report back similar success in installation. Thank you!

Just got myself a 2004 MDX base model from Acura of Portland. No one in Seattle even tried to match their price. You might have better deal if you don't mind the drive...:)
  • rob10rob10 Member Posts: 3
What kind of deal did you get, and how did you get it? I presume you live in Seattle... how does the state recover the sales tax? Thanks in advance.
  • demonspawnsdemonspawns Member Posts: 4
I do live in Seattle. Several other sites that I researched mentioned larged mark-ups in the Seattle area and so I went to Portland. Used the internet sales manager (e-mail through Acura.com). Got a 2004 base MDX with roof rack, side body molding and NW protection package, destination charge included, at 34400. They'll take care of title and license paperwork for you to pick up in local lincensing agency. Unfortunately, still have to pay the sales tax in the county you reside...:(
  • nickdonickdo Member Posts: 2
Congratulation on your new MDX. Thanks for the info, I'll definitely try to contact Acura of Portland. Is 34400 out the door price or plus sales tax?
  • demonspawnsdemonspawns Member Posts: 4
34400 is the out the door price. Need to pay sales tax back in Washington. Good luck!

Now that Acura published the 2005 MSRP prices, how quickly Edmunds will post the new invoice prices?
  • rob10rob10 Member Posts: 3
I realize the 2005's will be released next month, but I got a quote for 34000 + 170 title + 35 doc fee + 3094 WA tax = $37296 for a base 2004 MDX with no extras in the Seattle area. Is this a good deal? Sounds like they are going for less across the country, so I'd be paying (600 over invoice) for the convenience of picking up the car myself. Based on others accounts, it sounds like this is the norm for this area. Any thoughts?

I just bought MDX base model for 33500 plus I paid 850 for satin chrome running board, roof rack and protection package. Is this a good price to pay?? I am not sure. I went to the dealer and decided to buy without researching the price.
  • appuappu Member Posts: 27
    Congrats! on your new MDX.
From which dealer in NJ did you buy? Do they have more base models in stocks?
  • rrp1122rrp1122 Member Posts: 4
I bought it from Precision Acura in Princeton..
  • yrneh1yrneh1 Member Posts: 25
The best offer I got so far is $37300 including destination. Should I wait a few more weeks (until 2005s are in stock)? Do you think the price is good enough that I should take a plunge. I will be leasing so I am not sure if I will get a better deal by waiting for 2005 which should have a higher residual but also higher price. Any input would be helpful...
  • amar1amar1 Member Posts: 1
I just bought one in Virginia for $38,500 on the road registered in Maryland for a Touring without the DVD and NAV. That was 200 below the hold back on the car. Got a wild deal.....got chrome side steps, wood steering, and back up sensors as well for that price.

    Amar
  • yrneh1yrneh1 Member Posts: 25
Ooops...I forgot to put what model....

This is the price for 2004 MDX Touring w/Nav.
  • jbraojbrao Member Posts: 2
Now that the 2005 prices are out which is only $500 above the 2004 MSRP, what would be the lowest price buyers can expect?
Any one from Florida can give any dealership that gives close to or below invoice. I know when it first came on the market that was not the case. Now, I see the dealership still have plenty of 2004 MDXs.
Any manufacturers promotion for the buyers or dealers? I heard manufacturer give inventory clearence discounts to dealers. Is that true? Anyone knows the date when the 2005 MDX will show up in the showroom?
  • jbraojbrao Member Posts: 2
nickdo, which dealership you bought it from?
  • saint1saint1 Member Posts: 9
    Amar,
Your price seems to be more than $1000 over invoice - unless you meant that the car is equipped WITH DVD and NAV....
  • infifxinfifx Member Posts: 10
I recently got an offer for 2005 MDX with touring for $38200. I need to decide between infiniti FX35 and MDX. MDX has additional 2 seats but I think the leg space is pretty cramped. But the third row seating can be used for short trips. I think once more 2005s show up in dealerships, discounts on 2004s will increase.
  • rrp1122rrp1122 Member Posts: 4
The price for the Base MDX + Chrome Side Steps + Roof Rack + Protection Package + Pin Stripe is $34,350.00. Is this a good price to pay for 2004 MDX? Also, the dealer is after me to get the DVD entertainment system installed for 1100. It's not factory installed. However, he will give me 4 years/50000 warranty on DVD. Please reply to my message with your comments if this is a good price to pay.

p.s. protection pkg includes Wheel Locks, All season mats, and Cargo Net.
  • todd53todd53 Member Posts: 47
My dealer quoted $41,845 for an 2005 MDX Touring equipped with both the Navigation and Rear Seat DVD, which represents $2,500 below the MSRP of $44,345. The dealer would do an "inbound swap" to get the exact vehicle I want. Please post you opinions as to whether this a good deal. It's difficult to tell without seeing the invoice price. Does anyone have the invoice pricing on the 2005s yet?
  • sangoramasangorama Member Posts: 4
I was looking at the Sequoia but may get the MDX instead... Just got back from a dealership test drive of a 2004 and they offered the Tourning with Nav for 39,500. I emailed another dealer in the area and they quoted 39,200. This is in Portland Oregon.

How are you guys getting the same car for almost 2k less?
  • jlynnjlynn Member Posts: 3
Looking for 2004 MDX Touring w/Navi in Boston area. Been quoted $38,400 (inc. destination) at First Acura and $38,900 at Clair. No firm quote yet from Peabody. Want to buy this weekend so looking for recent advice/experiences. Is $38,400 good or should I work harder? It's still above invoice...

where are you and where did you get this quote on MDX?
