We paid 38,400 +900 chrome wheels before tax and lic. on a 04 Touring with NAV. This was 750 over invoice in Central Calif. I then ordered accessories from HondaAcura world because they were about 30% less than the dealer.

I'm exhausted. Been looking at cars since March (Torrance area of So. Cal.)--waited on '05 MDX info to make my move. Drove RX330, '04 & '05 Honda Pilot, Toyota 4Runner & Highlander. 3 time Honda owner, so perhaps this played a part in choosing MDX - but despite Pilot finally getting a few perks it needed, still prefer MDX's style. Knew I'd pay close to MSRP on the '05 Pilot - made MDX $ seem reasonable (yes, I did struggle justifying the difference when the Pilot & MDX are sooooo similar!).

Just signed the paper for 34k + 1500 in options (roof rack, running boards, cargo tray/liner/cover, all season mats, side molding and wheel locks). This is not including TTL - but everything else. So. Cal taxes take it to $38.8k out the door. Used Edmunds a lot this year - THANKS! But 50% dealers didn't quote when I did the e-mail thing - played best prices off the credit union and now I just have to show up and grab the keys.

Don't know if I'll trade in the '96 Accord EX coupe w/ 89k miles or try to sell myself (if anyone has some advice on that - I'd love to hear it). Good luck to you all. I took to heart something I read - that ultimately the car you choose to buy is an emotional decision, not a scientific one.

We just paid $37982 (including destination but excluding taxes) for a '04 Touring w/ NAVI, which is $300 over invoice. All I can say is PUSH HARD AND BE FIRM -- THEY ARE DEALING. In Chicagoland, most dealer lots are FULL of 04's and they're desperately trying to move them. I could have gotten it at invoice, except my wife insisted on a red touring/NAVI which only one dealer had.

The '05 sticker for $1000 more than the 04's, and dealers are not doing $300 over invoice on '05 yet. I suppose the '04 inventory will start moving once people realize the price difference on essentially the same car with a couple new gadgets.

For the money nothing comes close to how this thing drives and feels. After 500 miles, averaging 18mpg. Got the exhaust rumble at 2000rpm like most folks, but doesn't bother me.

Downey Acura gave the best price and great service. I got Touring w/Nav (Black/ebony) for $37334 including destination charge. I opted to lease to get the full business deduction. My payment is $534 including tax (7.75%) for 36 month 36k lease with $1000 drive off. The price was given (not negotiated) over the phone after initial e-mail contact. I traded in my 99 Exploder for good price also (which was negotiated after the price for MDX was alread set). All I can say is that my wife is so happy to have this car, and thus I'm very happy. They have a great internet sales team, and everybody from the internet salesperson to sales manager to delivery guy (the guy explaining the manual and the car) were very professional and courteous. The best buying experience ever. I highly recommend Downey Honda in So. Cal. I drove 100 miles from San Diego, and the drive was definitely worth it.

p.s. They throw in wheel locks in free for all their cars and they don't try to sell you warranties or lo jacks or any other after market stuff.

Congratulations. That price appears to be about $350 under invoice? Is that the actual cash price you would have paid had you not elected to lease? And lastly, I assume that's a brand new vehicle with under 10 miles on the odometer?

i am looking for 2004 mdx lease with navigation. i want to put 0 down and the salesperson gives me a new story every time., he says there is a new law in new york you have to pay 1195 for titlevas of january. is this true? what is a good price for 2004 mdx with nav. he quoted me 35777 for 2004 touring without nav and says there are no navs left in 2004. any body have any clues?
  • kcolb71kcolb71 Member Posts: 2
how much did you pay? is that 2004 with nav and are you leasing? if so whatr is monthly with 0 down, 15000 miles per year on a 36 month lease?

sent bunch of emails to dealers asking for internet quote, lowest came in quickly at 1100 under invoice for 2004 MDX with Touring package only. they don't have my choice of color, so went to another dealer which gave me $1000 under invoice for the exact car i want, took the car and finished the transaction in 1.5 hour. yet another dealer called me today to beat 34600 ($1100 under invoice), but it's too late, :)

I am sure you all can get a great deal on MDX these days. the dealerships i went all have rows and rows of MDXs on lot, good for us, :)

PS: just checked email, the 3rd dealer was willing to go for $2100 under invoice... :(

So after getting quotes for over 39k in Oregon on the 04 MDX Touring w/ Nav, I contacted a dealer in California and they gave me a quote for 37,757. I'm just assuming that there is a LOT more demand in the northwest or that California has a huge inventory they have to move. It just doesn't make any sense otherwise...

I asked if I could buy the car in California and not pay tax since I'm in Oregon, but California passed a law that forces tax payment on any purchases in the state.

I like the car but it just feels like I'm paying more than what I should...any thoughts? Some guy at the Salem dealership even wanted to charge me MSRP (42k)!
  • yrneh1yrneh1 Member Posts: 25
That was the best part. My MDX had 2 miles on it, by far the lowest I have ever seen. They told me that the car arrived the day before and they drove only to fill it up. I don't know how much the lease would be w/$0 down and 15k...but give them a call. You won't be disappointed. Downey Acura had at least 15 MDX on the lot. I know that most Acura dealers have plenty in stock. I'm glad I waited to get this car. I really love it.

Todd53 - This sounds like a good deal, $2,500 below MSRP. Can you tell me what area the dealer is located?
  • todd53todd53 Member Posts: 47
    shaweet

The dealer is Orr Acura in Shreveport, Louisiana. They are very nice people to deal with. I got a 2005 MDX Touring with Nav and rear-seat DVD for $41,500 + TTL. They came down another $345 since my last post. This represents $2,845 below the $44,345 MSRP (including destination). I'm sure this price is still well above invoice, but I figured it is probably the best I can do for a 2005 that is not even out yet. It is scheduled to arrive around the end of the month.

I am in Northern Cal. Can you tell me which SoCal dearlership offered you $2100 under invoice. Saving this kind of money might make it worth the cost of a plane trip. If nothing else, I might be able to use it to deal with the dealerships up here.

Thank you in advance if you can provide me with this info.

I was at a dealership (northern area) today and they didn't even want to negotiate at invoice.

    Thanks.

How does $490 per month for 42 months, 12,000 miles a year with $1500 down sound for a 2004 MDX with 0 miles and Navi. Please help, I'm suppose to sign tomorrow if I like the offer. Thanks
  • kdb141kdb141 Member Posts: 2
Does your MDX have Navi? I was just offered a 2004 MDX with Navi, for $490 with 1500 down...12000 miles per year.
  • shaweetshaweet Member Posts: 12
Thanks Todd! You've got a great deal! I hope I can get the same kind of deals here in Northern CA. Looking for a good deal but in no rush since I'm getting rid of my dreadful hesitation problem on '04 Highlander...

Thanks for all the helpful comments on this board. Picked up a 2004 Sagebrush with NAV and RES for $39900+TTL that included all season floor mats (and cargo tray?), wheel locks, free glass etching. Could have done better ($39600) but I went to a dealer close to where I live. Options on Sagebrush are generally limited in this area (lots of Silvers and Black). Financed some amount through Chase at 3.8%. Was in for a surprise seeing the gas needle fall like a rock especially after having driven a 5 speed sedan. Great vehicle.

It is not a good idea to post your email address here. You will likely get a lot of spam. If you wish to share your email with other posters it is best to mark your account public, not private. Public just opens it to the posters and not to spammers.

I would also love to know what dealer quoted you the $2,100.00 under invoice. I am located the Southern California area.

    Thanks!

Sorry, I didn't know that I wasn't suppose to post my email.

Clarification- The pricing $2100 under invoice for MDX TOURING was a misquote.

The salesperson was quoting MDX BASE for $33600.

I believe the best price is the $1000 under invoice which was mention in msg #1559
  • mdx91377mdx91377 Member Posts: 5
    vtau,

thank your for the clarification! i just examed all of his emails and found there is NO mentioning of 'touring', although i clearly requested bid for 04 touring. his phrase of 'we do have your exact car, blah blah ...' somehow convinced me to believe his quotes were on touring. luckily i didn't go there! :)

my appology for the misleading information with regarding to the 2100 under invoice quote
  • vtauvtau Member Posts: 12
The other two dealership info was very useful.

Thank you for sharing your info with the rest of us.

I will pick up my new 2004 MDX base model tonight for $300 under invoice ($33062 including destination charge). Anyone bought Acura Care for MDX (7yr/100,000 miles)? What is the price?
  • progerproger Member Posts: 44
I usually keep my cars over 4 yrs and would like your comments about extended warrantes and how much is the average cost to get one. So far I had my MDX for 8 months w/ no problem. Thank you for any inputs.
  • gt4gt4 Member Posts: 4
I just wanted to thank all those who have posted on the board for the great information.

It's a '04 Touring w/ Navigation, running boards and wheel locks for $1,000 under invoice. I think I could have gotten more off if I waited but then there would have been less and less color choices.

The buying experience was great with South Coast Acura.

We are seeing people getting $1000 under invoice for 2004's. What are people's expectation for 2005? Invoice? 1000 over Invoice?

Anyone get a good deal on a 2005 MDX w/NAV in the NYC metro area or long island?

Are any dealers around here better than others? I.e., do any give free oil changes, free service, or the like?

    Thank you to all!!!

$41500 for 2005 MDX Nav, RES.

    Princeton Acura, NJ
    $125 doc fee.

    Overall buying experience is good.

When I got to the dealership there is no admin. assistance to greet us (unlike Lexus/Infiniti dealership I went to). All salesperson are busy w/customers on a Sat. afternoon. I waited in the service area for a bit until someone is done (20 min?). I did not decide on getting the RES until today. We were able to finish the transaction without having to come back (would have landed same deal in another dealership or bought Infiniti FX35 instead if proved to be too much aggravation). I think the price paid is fair and left enough for dealership profit considering people are getting $400 above invoice for 2004 models. It depends if you need the enhanced tech features or just need a good SUV.

FYI my sister bought 2004 MDX RES from them last year but I didn't use her salesperson. I first went to Acura.com requested quote within 25 miles of our zip code. I was going to buy FX35 but waited to see what kind of deals can be had for 2005 MDX because I like the nav. better (can program w/o having to stop the car). If MDX were selling at MSRP I'd have went w/FX35.

    Hi,

I am also looking for a 2004/2005 MDX touring/NAV/RES in NJ. I have got a quote for $39500 (500 over invoice) for a 2004 MDX for above mentioned options and $43245 ($1000 off MSRP) for a 2005 with same options from Open road acura. Your deal for a 2005 MDX with DVD/NAV (I guess touring is a must as well for these two options) is approx. $1800 less for a 2005 vehicle than what I got a price quote for. I have just request a internet price quote from princeton acura. When are you getting the delivery and does your price any accessories.
I have also test driven a fx35 and the ride is much more sporty than MDX and the 2004 FX35 is now available $1000 to $1500 under invoice.

I am trying to by a similar car - MDX w/ Navi in CA... did the $1000 under invoice include the price of the running boards or were they just thrown in for "free"?

Can you share what you paid?
  • jowjow Member Posts: 3
I just started looking for a 2004 or 2005 MDX Touring with Nav & Entertainment System. What is the going price in the DFW area? Thank you.
  • Firebird_EOUFirebird_EOU Member Posts: 250
My price does not include any accessories. Also I did not go through the Internet Manager because he didn't respond with anything useful in email. I just went in for test drive (for my wife) and check out the RL and happened to be able to sign the deal that same day. However they did have him as a record so maybe that'd help. I take delivery end of month.

Hello, does anyone know a good price for the 05 MDX Touring...
Also, is the LCD screen standard w/ the trip computeré Thanks so much!
  • gt4gt4 Member Posts: 4
I paid $570.00 for the running boards. I guess you can negotiate that for free. I did not want to because I wanted a certain color choice. The dealer had to exchange one of their MDXs with another dealer to get me my preference.

    Best of luck.
  • otis123otis123 Member Posts: 439
I fell in love with the fx35 since pics first started coming out in 2002. We test drove the 2004 fx35 three times trying to get over the ride (non-sport, touring edition). Love its look and handling but could not get over the harshness of the suspension. It rides like a sports car.

I took a turn and hit a bump at the same time. My wife and daughter were in the back. My wife ended up on top of my daughter's left leg. The ride is OK if you are holding on to the steering wheel, but sucks for the passenger and SUCKS big time for the rear passengers. Some fx35 owners on the edmunds boards say their kids get nauseous in the car.

Anyway, that's why we bought the plain vanilla mdx.

Can anyone tell me why I should pay an extra 10 thousand dollars to buy an '04 Acura MDX as opposed to a Honda Pilot? According to Edmunds website, the MDX costs about 10K more than the pilot: I compared the fully loaded MDX with Nav and DVD versus the Pilot with NAV.

Here's the rub: if you compare the specs on these two cars, it looks like they are the same car with a different shell: the engines are same, both 3.5 liters, both same horsepower and towing capacity, and the dimensions are almost exactly the same (height, etc). In fact, the Pilot has more legroom and cargo capacity, including more space for the third row.

So, outside of image, why are you folks buying the MDX? What am I missing here?

    Hello Acura lovers
I live in houston. My wife leases an 01 4runner limited. The sticker was actually as much as a base MDX. It's up in about 10 months. I was wondering if anybody would be brave enough to share what they put down, and are paying a month on a base MDX lease.

PS. Any thoughts on the lexus RX330?
  • yrneh1yrneh1 Member Posts: 25
My wife and I argued over the subject at great length. One of the key features for us is the memory seat function. I'm 6'0 and she's 5'1, and she hates it when she has to adjust it and so do I. Another feature was side air bags which seems more and more necessary. I also liked the overall feel of the car. We drove back to back several times, and everytime we came away thinking that MDX offered smoother and quieter ride. Pilot is a great vehicle, but MDX is the premier SUV for women. I personally like bigger SUV's such as Escalade or Navigator. Anyway, I still enjoy driving it and owning it.

We got 2004 Touring w/NAV for $1000 drive off and $539/month including tax. It's 36month 36K lease through AFHC. We got ours at Downey where the internet manager gave the quote w/o much hassle.

It was anywhere from $20 to $50/mo. better than other dealers.
  • sagembsagemb Member Posts: 1
Earlier today purchased a 2005 MDX w/ NAV & RES

With no trade, options or financing - my price was $2,350 under MSRP + TTL
There was a $45 doc fee in the contract

May not be the best deal out there as it felt I left something on the table - but had another dealer who was not even willing to talk about anything near $2K off in spite of my being ready to sign.

    Hope this helps...
