Gas in Pahrump Smith's $3.05 diesel $2.95. Using Smith's new CC I paid $2.42 last fill-up on the Touareg Diesel. The 2017 Canyon diesel has only been out of the Garage for 2200 miles over the last year. Kind of a waste of license and insurance.

I am learning the tricks on getting a discount on diesel at our Smith's (Kroger) gas station. I got 55 cents a gallon off this morning on 21 gallons in the Touareg. $2.44 a gallon. Since we had to get their CC card it does save on fuel. Buying gift cards kicks it up 4X also. We shop a lot at Home Depot, so I just put a $100 card on their CC and use that till it is gone.

My truck will run on RUG, but makes more power and seems to get better mileage with PUG, especially in colder weather.

Ford's Ecoboost engines are pretty flexible regarding gas. I'd prefer that to 'premium required'.

We put mid-grade into the Outback; here in Colorado, that is 87 octane.

The MINI takes PUG, which is still 91.

I paid $2.75/gal, less grocery discounts, for the Outback yesterday. Am only filling it up about once a month.

On Long Island just paid 2.49 at a BP and was shocked to see 89 octatne 3.05 and premium Yikes..3.39...glad my truck and wife's car take regular. The normal spread between regular and premium around here is 50 to 60 cents. I figured the difference in cost for a car requiring premium compared to one using premium is around a 5 MPG difference.

Yep, forgot to mention it was at Costco. I think RUG was maybe 20 cents cheaper, spread is usually 10-15 cents per grade in WA.

RUG is $2.29 at Quick Trip.
Passed a brand new Sunoco station, took the place of a Texaco. Haven't seen one of those in decades. Do they still have the many grades of gas?

Ah... Costco. Spread here is about $0.40 at Costco, $0.70-$0.80 at major brands.

Looking back at my post of 2.65 for PUG in April 2020, maybe gas prices are like housing - 40% increase in a little over a year (where much housing in this part of the world is probably up a good 20% in that time, and 100% in 5-6 years).
