@andmilne Put the deposit on a credit card (not a debit card). I've never had any issues getting deposits back, but if it's on your credit card, you can just dispute the charges.

2015 Accord Sport CVT in Philadelphia, PA Suburbs.

Dealer 1 $21,400 Accord Sport CVT + $450 for accessory package = Trunk Tray, Splash Guards, Wheel Locks. Selling Price of $21,850 with accessory package $75.00 Document Fee only additional cost would be Tax & Tags.
Dealer 2 $21,580 Accord Sport CVT price includes all cost and nothing is added to this price except Tax &Tags Also NO dealer add ons installed unless requested by customer, car sits as it did rolling off the assembly line at this price. This dealer will match my above quote of $21,400 without the accessory package Again, Just add Tax & Tags.
Dealers 3 and 4 were not even in the ballpark at approximately $1500 more. Will post more on this later.

Seems most dealers want to give verbal quotes and not through e-mail so buyers can't leverage one dealer against the other as easily.
Will post all dealers names and quotes and experience once the deal is final.
PA doc's are listed at no limited on state sites, but most deals I brokered or seen in PA are $75 to low 100's. NY and CA are capped at 75 and 80 dollars as are a few other states.
Invoice w dest charge on your 15 Sport model = $23,391. buying at dealer 2 for 21,400 excluding accessories and doc fee is a nice deal in PA. @1991 below invoice. If you want the access. pk make dealer 1 split the cost or throw in for the sale tomm. Pit one dealer against the other . You are in the drivers seat and have the leverage right now to seal a better deal.
I can say with certainty that dealer 1 would throw those items in the deal for my business, I would wave my money in his face letting them know I'm going down the block to buy at X Honda as soon as I hang up the phone if you wont take my final offer. Dealer would be foolish to lose your business.......... that package cost the dealer peanuts.
Hi Brian!
First off, thanks so much for helping everyone here! First time auto purchase & doing it pretty much solo! Here is the breakdown of my current quote in which I was very close to signing & driving tonight. However financing HQ was already closed by that time so I chose to come back another day.
2015 Honda Accord EX-L Sedan V4 (Houston, TX)
MSRP 29,240
Total Sales Price = 24,200 (price matched from 24,720)
Accessories = 962 (trunk tray, mud guards, wheel locks, tint, nitro tires)
TX Tax 6.25% = 1,573
Title & Lic = 291
VIT = 65
Final Drive Out/OTD = 27,091
My main questions would be... given I haven't already gone too far in the process.. if it would be beneficial for me to wait until the end of the week to finalize the purchase and around how much could I push down if so?
Second, I feel the accessories are way overpriced.. $400+ for tint? Again if I am not already in too deep, would it be worth it to try to get the accessories (at least the tint) added in for free rather than having to find a different model without the accessories?
Any another suggestions or tips in this stage of the process? Thanks!!!
This deal is at 2616 below invoice minus dealers doc fee charge. Its a very good deal. what hurts this deal is the over priced accessories at $962. I would not walk away from this deal. Call dealer tomorrow tell them to split the cost of the over priced accessories and you will buy it today. Even If you have to hang up and let dealer stew all day w your counter offer. I would put the bug in there ear that the dealer down the block has the same model you want without all those overprice accessories in vehicle. This is how you play the game. Don't forget......Tell dealer I will buy vehicle right now split the cost.
Online cost for splash guards = $67, wheel lock $36, tint 100, trunk tray $90, nitro free, so you know dealers cost is lower than what I posted. splitting the cost is a fair counter for both dealer and you.
BTW : which one of those 2 pretty girls in that picture is the negotiator left or right.
Good luck
The dealer would only come down $100 off accessories. I told him to find the same exact model without accessories and give it to me at the same quoted price and he did. So I just finished the paperwork & drove out tonight! Thanks for your help!
Lol! Didn't realize signing up through FB would carry over my profile pic whoops. I'm on the left!
Just wanted to thank Brian and everyone else on this forum for all of their advice and priceless information. I made a purchase of a 2015 Accord EX CVT last night at Crown Honda in Pinellas Park, FL. Easiest deal I ever made. The breakdown is below.
I recently received an online quote from a local dealer on a 2015 Honda Accord Touring Sedan. I’m a newbie at this and hope you’ll be able to answer some questions of mine.
The sticker price without destination fee is $33,630 Adding an $820 destination fee gives an MSRP (incl. destination fee) of $34,450.
The dealer quoted me a selling price for the car of $29,580 without destination fee. This becomes $30,400 when I add the $820 destination fee. This seems a lot better than the True Car estimate of $31,469 which also includes the destination fee.
The dealer provided a documentation fee of $400 which brings the price from $30,400 up to $30,800 at this point.
There are no additional options or dealer installed extras that I need.
What I’m trying to do is calculate an estimate of my OTD price and I have some questions here that I hoped you can answer.
The sales tax in NJ is 7%. So I assume the tax is applied to the $30,800 price stated above which includes both the destination fee and the doc fee and that brings the price to 32,956. Does this sound right?
My understanding of the NJ DMV charges for a new car are:
Four year registration fee including new plates: $211. Title: $60. Total tire disposal fee (for 5 tires): $7.50. Total DMV fees: $289. Are there any other DMV fees that I’m missing? I assume that there is no tax on the DMV fee. Is that right?
Adding the DMV gives me a price of $33,245
There are no incentives that I know of at this time.
Are there any other charges I can expect from the dealer or can I assume that the OTD price will be the $33,245 shown in the above line? The Kelley Blue Book OTD estimate for this 2015 Honda Accord Touring Sedan is $33,822, so the dealer’s price looks good if my assumptions and calculations are right.
Am I doing the arithmetic right and what else do I need to consider before responding to the dealer?
Thoughts? or recommendations for dealerships in so cal?
Thats pretty horrible. In MD, I paid 20650 before TTL for Sport CVT about 6-7 weeks ago including similar accessories. You are about $1800 higher than me and the 2016 is coming out very soon. At worst, I think you should try to match what I got so based on your breakdown should be at a selling price of ~19800 if they are gonna itemize/overcharge for those accessories. Someone else will have to help you on the SoCal. Remember, the 2016 is coming out soon...Most places wont email you a great quote until you press the issue and even then, they might only do it over the phone.

Dealer 1 was Hamilton Honda in Hamilton NJ Dealer 2 where car was purchased is Conicelli Honda in Conshohocken PA.
Transaction was great, car was all prepped and ready to go when we arrived. The internet manager was very nice and easy going and returned call when promised. Our salesman was excellent, very friendly and answered every question about the car instantly. Salesman was really a great guy. Finance person was also great and did not ask over and over if we were interested in any add on items at the end.

Need model , doc fee charge, agreed selling price, etc??? If you wait another month or two pricing will drop in your area. Buying the 2016 model may not be a big savings.
2015 Honda Accord EX-L
Sale Price 23400.00 Doc Fee 250.00 IN Tax 1655.50 Title Lic 33.50
Total 25339.00 This includes splash guards, Honda remote start would be $496 extra. I would be buying out of state so would have to transfer the title and wouldn't be able to take advantage of their 20yr/200000 mile warranty. Do you think I can do better than this? Or if I do wait? Like I said staying in state I can't get lower than 26OTD no accessories. I'd also not be getting the lifetime power train warranty but if I use the 660$ savings towards the 100/7yr/0 Honda care plan (850$) is that a wiser choice?
Thanks
Your above deal is a dandy at $3416 below invoice. Most dealers in your area wont touch this price, A 20 year warranty.... lol . There are not many everyday 20 yr old cars being driven with warranty. Don't worry about this warranty your not missing out.
Play out this month with your local dealers to see where end of month pricing takes you then decide. Do I drive the hour and half to save $$$ ? or do I buy local for X dollars. The real negotiations and deals should heat up by July 30th and 31st.
Just did the deal at Superior Honda in Cincy. No bait and switch Added $835 for the 7yr/100k/0 Honda care and $484+tax for remote start. Worked with Cindy and Mary who were both great.
Great deal at Superior. I had a similar quote but a Cleveland dealership tried the bait and switch so I didn't want to drive to cincy and have the same thing happen. Got the exl v6 yesterday.
i went with Great Lakes Honda in Akron. Great dealership. This was actually their initial offer so could have saved myself a lot of time but I know it was the best deal in northeast Ohio.
Selling Price $24,521 Doc Fee $299 Total Price $24,820 Taxes and Title $1,571.75 OTD $26,391.75
Did my research and decided to offer $24,820 for an immediate purchase. ($1997 below invoice for an EX-L with no accessories but including freight and all dealer fees.) Started making phone calls Wednesday afternoon Jul 29. Following Brian's script the first dealer I called (Brown's Honda City, Glen Burnie, MD) said yes to the price. They even threw in the accessories they had already installed. By 5:30 I was headed home with the car.
As I left, I told the sales manager it may not have been the best deal ever, but it was a great price and I was happy with it. His response was that it might not have been the absolutely best deal ever but it was mighty close to it.
Thanks to Brian this was the easiest car buying experience I've ever had.
Selling price - $21000 (before tax) Only accessory - Splash gurad Extra 7 year/xxxxx miles B2B warranty on top of Honda's 3 year - $14xx (not sure if it is a good deal)
Thanks for the forum giving me an idea to negotiate.
Baltimore, Maryland -- Just bought today. I probably could have gotten it down a 300-500 more but I feel once i get in that range the sales guy is making nothing. And I am a sales guy so he needs to get something.
ACCORD EX with All Weather Floor Mats Invoice $23,635.00 Destination $820.00 dealer proc. $300.00 discount -$2,500.00 Total $22,255.00 Tax (MD 6%) $1,329.30 tags and Title $299.00 OTD Price $23,783.30 This is with the .09 APR from Honda $5k down, no trade in
An update on my earlier post with the outcome of negotiations for and purchase of a 2015 Accord v6 EX-L w/navi 4dr. Purchased on July 31 in MD.
MSRP: $32,270 Invoice: $29,509 Destination:$820 Total dealer cost before holdback, etc: $30,329 Selling price: $27,600, which includes destination charge of $820 and cost of accessories: wheel locks, trunk try, splash guards, and tire nitro. Dealer proc: $300 Tax(MD 6%): $1634 Title, registration, and fees: $221.50 OTD excl trade: $29,775.50
Feel like I could have gotten a cpl hundred more off but had limited time to negotiate. One other dealer, about an hour away, had my first color choice at a similar price, but dealer would only negotiate pricing in person and not via email. Other dealers more than an hour away had similar, and competitive, first or second offers but included accessories I didn't want (and couldn't always negotiate away or down) and my second or third choice on color. Instead, purchased five miles from home and, unless I calculated wrong, got my first color choice for about $2800 below invoice. Hoping that's decent. Based on the info in this thread, I'm thinking it is. Thanks everyone.
Here's the lease purchase I made on Friday Aug 31. Includes wheel locks, trunk tray, splash guards. My only remorse...the 2016 EX coupe will include XM radio option, which I REALLY want in my 2015. Thanks for the help @brian125 This forum made my buying experience a little less traumatic

Can anyone tell me the current incentives on a 2015 Accord Sport - Manual. I see everyone getting way below invoice which means there must be hidden dealer cash or similar. Thanks!

I had negotiated that exact car for a few days before settling on the EX. The pricing I ended up at for a 2015 Accord Sport Manual was: $20,762.00 before TTT in Maryland, with free all weather floor mats. Hope that helps.
Correction to my earlier posting.... 2015 ACCORD CVT EX Dealer: Ourisman Honda Laurel -- Jim Powell. Very easy to deal with. No tricks and it was a quick in and out. I bought a V6 EXL (NO Nav) for $26,511 last week. Valley Honda in Aurora IL (Outside of Chicago).
That was with delivery, and Without Title/Tax/License/Doc. They matched an online Honda Care warranty quote for $1105 (8yr/120K/Zero Deductible).
I feel I could have done a little better, but only dealt with one dealer. They are a nice dealership with no bait and switch and no pressure selling of addon/extras during the closing.
Hi, all - I was looking at a 2015 Accord LX Manual. Final quote was $17,771 plus 3% NC tax, tags/title, doc fee (sorry I don't have specifics) with final price $19,000 OTD.
Brian, @brian125 I am getting 26.4 K OTD with 6%sales tax on 2015 ACCORD Ex-L. In north Florida region, where do I go from here? Appreciate your help. Also wants $500 more trunk guards, wheel locks, and moonroof visor. Another dealer offered me 26.1K OTD with no accessories. The 26.1k includes an outrageous $700 dealer fee.
Continued,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,LX and EX features,
The base four-cylinder LX comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, full power accessories, cruise control, an 8-inch infotainment display, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a rearview camera, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver seat, a one-piece folding rear seat and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player, an auxiliary audio jack, an iPod/USB audio interface and Pandora Internet radio control.
Opting for the Sport trim brings a bit more horsepower, 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, an eight-way power driver seat (with power lumbar) and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with shift paddles for the CVT (continuously variable transmission).
The Accord EX also builds off the LX, but in lieu of the Sport's features adds 17-inch wheels, heated mirrors, a sunroof, keyless ignition and entry, the power driver seat, the leather-wrapped steering wheel, Honda's LaneWatch blind-spot display and a six-speaker sound system.
One correction, one addition: The EX does not include a leather wrapped steering wheel, it is the same wheel as in the LX, the EX does have the rear AC vents--which are very much appreciated by my daughter.

Make a list of target dealerships your willing to travel to and negotiate till you feel you made the best deal. If you breakdown your above deal I can look into your numbers . OTD pricing with no other info given is a guessing game for all of us here. Read prior pages to get info on pricing

It seems everyone is getting Honda Accord 2015 below invoice. I plan to buy Honda Accord 2015 and am looking for dealer between New Orleans and Baton Rouge in Louisiana.
What is current Dealer Cash or Incentive that Dealer is getting that he can pass on to me so I can also get Accord below Invoice? And how much below Invoice should I expect or negotiate for?

EXL Accord invoice ..............$25,997 plus 820 destination charge = $26,817.
Minus dealers offer off above number . Make sure dealer also added the 820 freight charge onto his number.
The 1698 below invoice is a good deal . Your real below invoice price should be calculated after subtracting dealers doc fee charge off that............ #
Brian (or others) which dealers in MD and VA do you recommend targeting? I'm plan on starting the emails for a 2016 accord when they go on sale next week.

Click on my user name @brian125 then onto my 3702 comments I just posted in the CRV or Pilot forum best dealerships in MD and VA. My listing of Fav. dealers does not mean you cant make a better deal at another dealership not listed . My list of dealers are consistently at the top month after month who I have done business with or referred friends / members from the Edmunds forums.
Jim Coleman, and O'Donnell Honda are the other 2 dealers on my favorite List probably not posted in my dealer posted thread

got an offer in Houston TX on a Accord sedan EX-L 6cyl (no nav) MSRP $31,xxx, sell price $25,100. Can I do better than this deal??? I am very hard core negotiator, and was wondering are there better deals than this?
Unfortunately for you the State of FL. . has one of the highest doc fee's in the country. As you negotiate thru this month making your best deal at months end unless a dealer gives in sooner, Compensate each dealers doc fee charge by lowering your asking price of the EXL model.
Ask each dealership if you Call, Email, or Visit...... what there doc fee charge is ?
Your above deal is................... $1189 below invoice after taking doc's into consideration. You can do better

Not much more if any. How you find out is???? Make a list of 20 or 30 dealerships/ call each dealerships Internet MGR. . Tell them for the sale that moment beat my price. You will have your answer within a hour if nobody bites at that price. You may get a taker at months end. Probably not now going into the 2nd week of this month.
Dealers needing to close out there monthly sale quotas numbers may come close, match or beat your above deal.
You have a very good deal on the table right now . Subtract your dealers doc fee charge from this deal and that is your true below invoice # . Also make sure this deal of 25,100 includes the $820 destination charge.

I bought from Jim at Ourisman in Laurel. His price was the best but others were going to match it. This was on the 2015 though. Jim Coleman Honda (Theo was salesman) in Clarkesville matched the price but I started getting to the price I wanted earlier with Ourisman so I gave them my business. I had much less pricing luck with College Park, Odonell, and Heritagee Honda

i went with Great Lakes Honda in Akron. Great dealership. This was actually their initial offer so could have saved myself a lot of time but I know it was the best deal in northeast Ohio.
Thanks Everyone.

Good luck to all.
Does this sound reasonable? Thanks!

I am getting 26.4 K OTD with 6%sales tax on 2015 ACCORD Ex-L. In north Florida region, where do I go from here? Appreciate your help. Also wants $500 more trunk guards, wheel locks, and moonroof visor. Another dealer offered me 26.1K OTD with no accessories. The 26.1k includes an outrageous $700 dealer fee.

What at will be Invoice Price for Honda Accord 2015 EX-L Automatic with standard features (no navigation), color red, silver or white?
dealer is saying he will give $1698 below invoice but I don't know invoice
Minus dealers offer off above number . Make sure dealer also added the 820 freight charge onto his number.
The 1698 below invoice is a good deal . Your real below invoice price should be calculated after subtracting dealers doc fee charge off that............ #

in Tampa FL area. got 3 quotes...doc seems high on all Honda Accord EX-L
Selling Price $ 24750
DOC Stamps $ 89
DOC Fee $ 847
Tax $ 1591
State Fee $ 228
Final $ 27,417.44
Unfortunately for you the State of FL. . has one of the highest doc fee's in the country. As you negotiate thru this month making your best deal at months end unless a dealer gives in sooner, Compensate each dealers doc fee charge by lowering your asking price of the EXL model.
Ask each dealership if you Call, Email, or Visit...... what there doc fee charge is ?
Your above deal is................... $1189 below invoice after taking doc's into consideration. You can do better
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
EXL Invoice w/ dest charge = $28,710
Good luck
