Just got an internet quote of $28,118 for a Honda Pilot EX w/ leather in NC. That's about 3% under invoice. Anybody gotten a better deal?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Such deals were widely available 2-3 weeks ago. 3% under invoice is an unbelievable quote at the present time.

Can't see how it would be possible to do any better.
  • patricemqpatricemq Member Posts: 7
Thats a great price what are you waiting for! Just bought mine 12/31 after looking for 1 week. Best price I got on long Island was $29400 but they were also offering 2.9 finance not sure if that affected the price. Wish I had gotten a deal like yours. Good Luck
  • cbraamcbraam Member Posts: 1
Out of curiosity, where in NC did you get this quote from? We are currently looking at the EX-L and have a quote of 28909 (includes doc fee - $398 and destination - $515). The vehicle is arriving from Alabama early next week. Does your quote include the fees?
  • wnd2wnd2 Member Posts: 4
Honda Cars of Concord - Concord, NC.....thought it sounded pretty good as well. That's his initial quote....haven't begun negotiations as of yet....
  • bigblueindybigblueindy Member Posts: 18
Was the quote with or without frieght? I got my

pilot on January 1st for about 2% under invoice. If they are offering this price you had better take it. I don't believe you will ever see a better price. If they are offering this I wonder if they are still doing some type of dealer cash on the Pilot? Just a thought. Happy hunting.
  • obrien040362obrien040362 Member Posts: 134
I paid $28,445.52 which included the destination.
  • wnd2wnd2 Member Posts: 4
The quote was w/o freight ($399).

First post, sorry if I sound out of touch. I am interested in getting the Pilot on a lease. I have been very happy with my Accord and would like to move up. All things equal I can't afford the Pilot as a purchase but I think I should be able to get a reasonable lease on it. I am located in Southeaster Massachusetts. I would like to get the version with the entertainment package but haven't a clue what the price/lease payment would be. If any one can "enlighten me" on the pricing on a lease and what I should expect - that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  • wnd2wnd2 Member Posts: 4
Did it have mud guards & pin stripe? They quote these as $149 each, but "will discount them" when I come in to negotiate.....
  • jbaerjbaer Member Posts: 45
Just wondering what people are paying for their Pilots in the Seattle area? and if they recommend any particular dealers? Looking at Carsdirect.com it looks like an EX model is going for around $1500 over invoice. Thanks in advance.

Leased 2005 Pilot EX, and love the car,

from Honda World, Westminster, CA on 1/13/05

36 month, 12000 miles/yr lease from Honda Financial

    $27432.00= invoice+destination freight fee

    $595.00= acquisition fee

    No $1999.00 cap cost reduction

    No $350.00 security deposit

money factor 0.00159x2400=3.816% due to no security deposit,

would be 0.00149x2400=3.576% with security deposit

    $337.25/mon= pymt (includes $24.26/month tax)

    $294.75= Lic, doc, etc. fees

$632.00= drive off minus my 1993 Merc Sable Wgn w/ 115K miles trade for $1000.00

they will send me a check for $368 that will pay the additional $220 insurance increase until 7/05.

    Net to me $148.00

    End of lease residual $19,478.40

Got wheel locks, rear mud flaps.

Note: I got last years promotion that ended on 1/5/05 because I filled out the Credit Appl. on 1/3. I did this so that I could compare it to the new program which has a higher money factor.

I love the detail you provided in your lease deal; however when I got to the part that included a trade in, as with all trade ins, it makes the deal difficult to duplicate without knowing what the dealer plans on making (or losing) on your trade in.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,755
why does the dealer's profit or loss on the trade-in matter? The poster said he was given $1k for the car. That's all that matters in terms of the deal.

I brought my Pilot EX-L yesterday from Lynnwood Honda at the invoice price $29,489. However, I think Renton Honda offers the best deal on Pilot and Odyssey. I chose Lynnwood Honda because it is much closer to me. The Pilot became more plentiful in this area (or newer model with side curtain bags will be out soon) so the price starts to drop.
  • jbaerjbaer Member Posts: 45
Great deal on the EX-L! Was it relatively easy to get that price? Did you fax all the dealers in the area and ask them to match the best price? Thanks for your input. We are moving to Seattle this summer and need to buy two new cars so I am trying to get some research done ahead of time.
  • aec1aec1 Member Posts: 21
I recently read that side curtain airbags will be available on the 06 models. It is a little early to be dropping prices on 05 models.

I notice the majority of Pilot owners have the LX, does anyone have the EX model with a good/bad review?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,755
hmmm... i could be wrong, but I believe there are more EXs sold. In any case, you should take this question out of the Prices Paid discussion and into the regular board for the Pilot:

I bought an 05 EXL today for $28,635. All Pilots were advertised (newspaper) at list less $4000 & CRVs were list less $3000. There was a $198 preparation fee, but that was it (other than taxes, title & registration). The best quote I was able to obtain via internet was $30,609 with no preparation fees (different dealer, who would not match his competitor's ad). Best not to rely on internet quotes.
  • mjamja Member Posts: 3
I'm not familiar with their lease program, but Herb Chambers in Seekonk is running a newspaper ad at $4000 off all Pilots (with $198 prep fees).
  • obrien040362obrien040362 Member Posts: 134
My car was straight off the truck.

No rear mud guards. I don't want anyway. They are worth $29.00. Instalation would be a snap. The mud guards on the front of the vehicle are standard.

No pin stripes. I wouldn't want anyway. They just peal or chip after five or so years. My car (steel blue) looks great with out them.

Just spent last week looking for 04EX-L in Atlanta area. Not too many left. Checked with almost every dealer in metro area. Just picked up Sage Brush Pearl color for $26,500. Out the door $28,200 after all tax/doc fees etc..
  • obrien040362obrien040362 Member Posts: 134
see post 3316 and 3324 for how a least is calculated.

For a EX-L w/ DVD w/o Navigation you should be around $370 per month + tax for a 36 month lease 12,000 miles per year allowed.

As you see in post 3324 a EX-L lease is $328.00/Mo. DVD is about $1500 more/36 month or an additional $42 per month. But the residual will be higher so it will be something less than $42/month.

Post 3324 best explains how a lease is calculated. Keep in mind the residual on an EX is different than an EX-L which is different than EX-l w/ DVD. I believe the residuals are 62% of MSRP-Destination.

I also got my night hawk black Pilot straight off the truck. I wish I would have gotten the dealer to install the rear mud guards for me. You are correct about them not costing much but they are no cake walk to install. You almost have to take the back wheels off to put them on. Just a thought if you buy them. I agree with you on the pin stripe. I think it makes the vehicle look cheap. I like your color also. The steel blue is a nice choice.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,755
just FYI, but I installed our rear muds in our driveway. The only tough part is getting a screwdriver between the tire and flap and getting the right angle to drive the screw in. BUT, if you have a screwbit, ratchet, and socket for screwbit to sit in, its a snap.

I have been talking to dealers on a New 05 Pilot EX-L, can someone tell me if security system, cargo net and cross bars (on the roof) come standard. or should they be bought as as accessory. The dealers are giving me conflicting information.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
It would really help folks if posters would include dealer name, city, and state when they relate their transaction details here.
  • arob1arob1 Member Posts: 67
security system, cargo net: Yes standard

    cross bars: Nope.

I am looking to purchase an EX in the SF Bay Area.

So far the quotes(2) I have are about $300 above invoice.

    Any experience....?
  • seattle ownerseattle owner Member Posts: 2
Renton Honda sells Pilot EX at little bellow invoice according to newspaper Ads. If you decide to buy Pilot EX-L, you should not have problem to get it at or below invoice in summer. You can play dealer against dealer if you want to buy it from other dealers. Here are my comments on Pilot:

Smooth, stable, fast and spacious. It is less nimble than some other SUVs.

Front seat lacks lumber support, the headrest is useless.

The leather surface starts sagging right away. The service manager shows me all the Pilots they have and all of them have this problem more or less.

Hi. I've never purchased a new car or from a dealer, so this is a new experience for me. Please be gentle...

I'm about to buy an EX-L and got a quote from CarsDirect.com for $30,400 (including the destination charge). What do you know about CarsDirect.com? Any thoughts on that price? Any advice on getting the best price?

Finally, any advice on negotiating prices for the accessories (mud flaps, etc.)?

    Thanks.
  • mrr162mrr162 Member Posts: 8
That price doesn't sound great. If you are in Mass, check out Autofair Honda in Manchester, NH. Their website is www.autofair.com. They are a no haggle dealership and the prices are listed on their website. (Don't be afraid to enter your e-mail, you won't get any spam.) If I'm not mistaken, their price on a EX-L is $29,400. I've bought a few cars from them. You might do a couple hundred dollars better by beating down another dealer, but frankly I don't know if it is worth it.

    Hi,

I plan to buy a 05 Pilot EX with leather around the King of Prussia area in Philadelphia. Any one know any dealer give the best price? If so, what sort of price range I can use to negotiate? Thanks alot.

You might want to check out Herb Chambers Honda, Burlington (MA). I was not able to get the deal metioned previously, but did get them down to $3400 below MSRP. That brought the price of the Pilot EX-L down to $29,235. Finalized the deal January 22nd. I was happy to get it down below invoice price.

If you want I can give you the name of the person I was dealing with.
  • markdmarkd Member Posts: 2
Sounds like my absolute best price for a EX-L would be $28,600, with anything between that and $29,200 a good price.

Sound right? Anyone see it differently?
  • bandemommybandemommy Member Posts: 20
We are purchasing a Pilot EX-L as well this weekend, Bernardi, Silko and Boch have all quoted 29,410 for the car (including destination). Herb Chambers in Seekonk has offered 29000 even for the car. $28600 would be great, good luck.

After much searching want to buy a 2005 EXL pilot or Odyessy. Willis Honda in Burlington, NJ gave me these quotes: Odyssey EXL (MSRP including destination 30810) 28687. Pilot EXL (MSRP including destination 32635). Are these good offers and if not, where is a better deal in the Philly (PA/NJ/DEL area). Would like to close on this in the next few days. Thanks for any and all help.

Sorry. MSRP for Pilot including destination was 32635. Quote was 30547. Reading over other experiences my quote didn't sound as good as I first thought but again supply and demand are different across the country.

Hi all, my 2002 Pathfinder lease is going to expire this June and my wife is now wanting to get a Pilot. We live outside Indianapolis and when we leased our Pathfinder, we used carsdirect.com, got a real good deal. Well, when entering our zip code (46060) we get the "Cars Direct negotiated price" the same as MSRP (using EX as an example)($30,435). I then tried a few different zip codes (in Ohio and Illinois) and found in Cincinnati (45232) the same vehicle is only $200 above invoice ($26909).

What I was hoping to find out is it ok to enter a "dummy" address with the Cincinnati zip code to get CarsDirect to send my request to Cincy dealers? For a few hundred bucks I could justify not driving 2.5 hours, but for $3500 is a different story. The dealers in Indy (northside) are not very willing to deal (at least thats been my experience). Sorry if a similar post has already been discussed.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,755
i don't recall this exact topic being discussed, and i think its a good question. personally, i see no problem in doing it. i mean, its not like you are NOT going to buy it, so it should make no difference where you live, as long as that dealer gets the sale.

let us know how you make out.

It wasn't too long ago, I believe, that someone said they paid near invoice in NJ. You might want to do a search on this board.

Interested in extended warranty on the Pilot. Can it be purchased after the sale like the Toyota products? What seems to be the going price for a Honda backed warranty in the Northern Virginia area? Thank you for any info.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,755
Yes, you can purchase the warranty up until the 2yr/24k mark with no penalties. Between 2yr/24k and 3yr/36k, there is, IIRC, a $60 penalty.

I used www.hondacare.org prices to negotiate my extended warranty. I actually did a little better than the price on that website, but not by much.

Just bought a 2005 Pilot EX with Leather for 29100 (includes destination) at Conchohosken at PA. Is that a good deal? Thanks.

I own both a '05 Odyssey and '05 Pilot. Both EXL. If you don't need the extra space or feel a need for side curtain air bags then go with the Pilot. Gas mileage is about the same for both vehicles and a little disappointing about 16.5 city/20 highway. Our driving habits seem in line but maybe we are in denial.

I got a pretty good deal on both

Odyssey $27,625 (bought on 12/10/05), Pilot $28,445 (bought on 12/30/05). Both prices include destination. I had to buy from two different dealerships. It wasn't a package deal. The dealership that sold me the Odyssey wanted about $300 more for the Pilot. The dealership who sold me the Pilot wanted about $500 more for the Odyssey.
