Here is some food for thought: The invoice (including destination) is $27449.00. HTB is 548.98 and the floorplan assistance is $274.50 for a total of $823.48 in holdback. Thats makes an adjusted cost of $26625.52.
If a dealer is willing to sell you a 2009 CRV EXL Navi 4WD for $27000.00 that leaves the dealer with an actual profit of just $374.48. I would say given the times $350.00 is a reasonable profit for a dealer. IMO (and just mine), your selling price of $27000.00 is fantastic! There is an old saying, "Don't pass a great deal looking for a good deal".
I am looking at the CR-V 2009 ExL 4wd without the navigation. Does anybody know the invoice for this? What is a reasonable amount to pay from the sticker price? Also there is only 1 consumer review written about the 2009 CR-V and it is very negative. The total rating was 4.5. What do other owners of the 2009 think of their vehicle. Thanks for your help.
I was offered "150 over invoice" on a 2009 Titanium Honda EX-L 2WD CR-V W/Navi for 26,650. I haven't seen the actual 2009 invoice price yet to know if they are telling the truth, but that is a good deal under sticker (28,265 Destination included). Is this a pretty good deal, or should i think that they have some more room to negotiate.
From what I have read so far, I hope this was a good purchase. Just purchased a 2008 CR-V EXL 4WD. Received many quotes from Honda dealers in the Chicago area through the internet requests. Here is a breakdown of my purchase w/ NO additional accessories:
Price + destination: $24,300 Doc Fee: $150.00 Tax (9.25%): $2,261.63 County Tax: $15.00 Title and License: $143.00 ------------------------------------------- OTD: $26,869.63
I was very specific in my color, so I was limited to a few car dealers w/ my exact model and color. Any feedback would be appreciated. But so far, the new car is awesome!
Hi There, I am also looking to buy 2008 Honda CRV EX-L with Navigation. Could you please let me know the price offered to you and the dealer name. I was offered 26,334 by one dealer in St.Paul, MN.
I know one dealership in the metro that is selling them for about $100.00 less - $26233.00. I cant tell you which one it is, you just have to email all of them.
I bought a 08 CR-V ex-l at Castle honda in Morton Grove, IL. The asian sales guy there is really good. I'm really happy with the car and the price I paid. Good Luck!
rvs2000- We paid $26,400 (3.9% financing) for a '08 silver EX-L with Navi, roof rack and destination plus TTL. This was in early September BEFORE the whole economic disaster hit. Now I'm sure you can do even better. They were willing to give me an '09 for 200 UNDER dealers invoice but we wanted to take advantage of the financing. We tried the Costco pricing at Mueller in Highland Park but they couldn't even come close to Castle's pricing. I do have to say some of the Castle sales people looked rather unprofessional. Hope that helps. If you post your e-mail address I can give you the sales person I worked with at Castle. The navi is awesome and really worth it.
Hi - just wanted to give a quick update. After going back and forth between 5 dealerships, I finally purchased my 2008 CR-V EX AWD. Here are the details:
Madison Honda in Madison, NJ. My sales associate was Mark Stocke - no nonsense and quick responses to my emails. He was willing to negotiate when the 4 other dealerships wouldn't. it was great!
Thanks rupter! I'm so glad it's finally done...I've been emailing back and forth for so long and I finally found someone who didn't want to play games! We bought White (my husband's first choice) but he also had Glacier Blue and Red. All dealerships had the $254 fee, so I know that wasn't a scam but it is expensive. Good luck with your purchase!
Congrats on your purchase! I think that's a pretty good deal. I also just pulled the trigger and got myself a 2008 2WD LX OTD for $22,000 which includes an upgrade to leather seats and window tint. I think I could have gotten a slightly better price or a few more accessories thrown in, but my time was limited and I didn't want to spend too much time haggling.
There's definitely some deals to be had out there with 2008 models.
You paid $26,400 fro an EXL with navi? Was it 2WD or 4WD? I am looking at that outside of phila (EXL-4WD + navi) and they are quoting me $27068 (invoice) with delievery included. Nothing under invoice. The NE areas aren't giving more than invoice at this time. And that took awhile to get to that price.
Can you confirm the 2008 CRV you purchased? A 4WD, EXL (no navi) for $24,300 with destination? Isnt invoice $24,822, and on top $670 delivery? I cant' find a deal anywhere close to that in PA. I am amazed. What did you do to secure that price?
From what I understand, the dealers get incentives to clear the 2008 inventory. Seriously, I just e-mailed all the Honda Dealers in the Chicago & suburbs and ask them for quotes. I used one dealers quote to bid against another dealer.
Stay firm and tell the salesman, you have budget and you will NOT go above it. Finally, Carr's Honda dealer that gave me the lowest quote of $24,700, I counter with a offer $24,300. After one or two more e-mails, he agreed to the price.
Most importantly, you have SPECIFY: [negotiated price = price of car + destination]. Many dealers that gave me low quote, but it does not include the destination charge. So once you include the $670, then the price is higher than others. I did all the negotiation over e-mail. Only time I spoke to the salesman was when the price was agreed upon and I asked him to fax me a Credit/Loan Authorization form to prefill. Speed up things a little

Santarev1, I paid $26,400 which includes destination for a Silver CR-V EX-L 4WD WITH Navi and Roof Rack Plus TTL. I purchased in the beginning of September at Castle Honda in Morton Grove, IL from a Korean salesperson. I started out with information from this board, which I printed out and brought into the dealership. I believe you could get a much better deal now since economic times have changed since then. Hope that helps.
Looking for best deal in SF Bay Area on 2008 Honda CRV-EXL-w/o Navi-2WD. Here is the best I have found so far: Price-$23,600 (includes Dest/Hand) Doc Fee-$55.00 Govt Fee-$237.00 Taxes-$2,069.00 OTD=$25,962.52 (1.9 financing for 36mo)
Does someone driving in SF Bay Area (ie fair weather) and only takes trips to the snow twice a year need a 4WD? Pro's, Con's? Is it true that with 4WD when a tire is replaced(damaged) all 4 MUST be replaced at the same time? Big difference in gas mileage? All Honda info says there is ONLY 1 mile per gallon difference? Thanks, Roo
Finally, after 10 days of waiting for our refund, dealer A already forwarded to my bank the WHOLE $1,000 that I gave to them as a down payment. I am now happy to share to everybody my transaction with dealer B We bought a 2008 Honda CR-V 4WD EX
Sale: $21,722.00 Destination: $670.00 Processing: $241.03 Taxes (VA): $711.08 Tags (VA): $49.50 Total VA Out the Door: $23,393.61
This OTD includes the following accessories: Door Edge Guards Wheel Well Guards Pin Stripes Mud Guards Wheel Locks
I am very happy because dealer B is very near to the city where I am planning to move next year.
Regarding to the transaction happened to dealer A, it seems that the sales manager was acting on its own without consulting the general manager or the finance manager when we were re-negotiating. In the first attempt of re-negotiation over the phone, we were just asking for the All weather floor mats and wheel locks, but the sales manager was too selfish to give those accessories. So we just decided to return the vehicle to dealer A. When we arrive at dealer A, the sales manager spoke to us again and asked us what are the demands that we were asking in order for us to continue the deal. I felt that moment that the sales manager is willing now to re-negotiate. I pause for a second, look into his eyes and demanded that if he will beat the offer of dealer B including accessories, we will re-sign the contract. He took the quote given by dealer B and he went to his computer. After 20 minutes he came back and said that he can’t really beat the offer of dealer B and he started to destroy the reputation of dealer B. He tried to convince us that it is a trick only of dealer B. He said that once we arrive at dealer B, they might add hidden fees. I felt that the sales manager was losing hope already and he is now doing everything just to destroy dealer B---but I did not change my decision. To cut the details of re-negotiating, the sales manager showed to us the breakdown of the “USE” of their CRV amounting to $341.430 and they will deduct the said amount from our refund. They thought that we will change our mind after seeing the breakdown. To cut the story short, I shook his hands and left dealer A.
It was lot of hassle but it was also a great experience. I hope that other buyers will learn something from my experience.
Anyway, driving the CRV feels very good. i like it!!. Cheers to everybody.
When you say, "I think you better have this". Did you mean the difference in price or that I had better have 4WD vs 2WD? sorry for the confusion... Thanks
OK the Value of the car is about 3K less, then the 2009. I do not see any great deals then, even by paying the invoice, or -$300-500. Even if you pay $3K more for the 2009, it is still a better value.
If you trade every three years, then the '09 might be a better buy.. If you drive it for six years, then I'd take the $4000 savings (including the financing) over the '09.. The difference in value down the road will only be around $1000, assuming you keep it...
For sales reporting, yes. However I dont see this in the Honda world as you would in Chrysler or even Volvo. Usually the manufacturer will provide the dealer with a pretty big incentive on all remaing close-outs (like you see on the Odyssey and Ridgeline right now).
kyfdx, I do agree with you. I have a 2004 EX under 50,000 miles, was going to get a 2008, but with my calculations, just like with yours it no big deal. The 1.9% is for 36 months or under, I would be doing 60 months thats 3.9%. From what I see the sales are very slow now, and I am sure with the interest rates down to almost 0%, gas prices are down, we will see some great deals in Jan. on 2009s.
Here it is - purchased today from a dealer in northern virginia.
2008 EX AWD. with wheel locks, mud guards. 23,200 OTD consisting of the following: approx 22,100 (includes destination and accessories) + tax, tags, and processing fee. When I asked them to make it 23 even they wouldn't budge.

We only want leather and tint and don't care about other options.
Is it a reasonable price?
Thanks.
