I'm in VA too, which dealer did you get it from? Thanks!
08 Honda CRV, EXL, 2WD: $23500 + tax + lic + 1.9%APR.
This weekend best offers.
When is the best time to buy? Thanksgiving? year end or Jan ?
I have also been negotiating pricing, usually without the destination fee. That is a standard price. I was amazed you got the car under invoice. I am sure that Honda has some dealer money going on the 2008. I saw one person on here that claims they got Navi (4WD loaded) for under invoice as well.
The car you negotiated must have had $1000 dealer money. Inovice (with delivery) is $25492.... you did very well. I personally (outside of Phila) can't get below invoice....
I thank you again for your guidance

I'm a first time new car buyer. I wish I could get a deal on a 2008 CR-V EX AWD. A question I have is that, while I'm shopping around, how much should I care about how long a car has been sitting in a dealer's parking lot and how many miles it has been test drived? Any input is appreciated.
I hope you find a good deal in Philly. Update us when you take the plunge.
In regards to comments about the 2008 CR-Vs should be discounted more... I do agree with you for the most part, especially during our current economic outlook.
HOWEVER, while searching the inventory of the dealers around Chicago, most of them only had 1 or 2 Glacier Blue EXL AWD W/O Navi left in stock. Some were already sold out. Because of that, I did not wait for a better offer.
Anyhow, if your model and color options are open, then wait for a better deal. But if you want something specific, then I wouldn't wait too long, especially if the color you want is a popular color. Just my two cents... for whatever it is worth. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for your post. My weak side is that I told them that I failed to get offer from another dealer. This dealer is the lowest one. We have been contacting for weeks. Now they have only 5 ex left. But today I can tell how bad the auto market is. Only 3-4 customers. When do you think I can email them with my increased offer?

my dealer told me that I have to pay tax, tag, title and registration on my own. they said they can't do that in Oklahoma. is it true?
they offered me Honda EX 2008 2WD with no accessories for $22,600 + tax, tag and title, is that a good deal?

OW

I am starting the bidding war now with 3 local dealers. See what comes up. I have basically invoice from everyone, and one guy is giving me the run around about committment and under invoice. There are plenty of CRVs right now in Philly, but with the cold weather coming I hope the AWDs dont' start moving much.
I figure I will pull the trigger on the 28th or 29th of the month. I think 500 under invoice, and maybe a few accessories will make me move (fog lights, cargo mat, auto start something).
Everyone last month was $200 over invoice, so maybe things will get better...will keep you posted
What are Tags worth?
Glad the dealers are responding to you.
ANOTHER THOUGHT: Now that Honda has extended the 1.9 - 3.8% APR to the 2009 models... that maybe worth considering if the price difference is a matter of a few hundred dollars. A year depreciation is quite a bit more.
As for under the invoice price... I really don't know. From everywhere I have seen, the invoice price + destination charge is about $25,300. My dealer sold it to me for $24,300. Based simply on that, I got it for $1000 under invoice. I am sure they had other incentives...
My friend was recently offered $24,500 for a 2009 CR-V EXL AWD w/o Navi. So... knowing that, I would have paid that extra $200 for the 2009 model. Oh well, no regrets. I plan to keep the car for 10 years.
I will try and post some pictures, I recently added:
hood visor
door visor
roof rack
tailgate spoiler
mudflaps
side steps
all season mats & cargo mat
Take care and hope you get your deal.
Some other places want 7-800 over....
Edmunds TMV = $23,729.

He didn't say. I saw him in passing and he mentioned it to me. He drove my car and looked around in there for a while, so he was impressed enough to change his 10 year old Accord. But my friend is in the Chicago area as well. I advised him to do the same thing I did... and he was surprised dealers are giving quotes over e-mail. I like to believe it works.
Anyone with experience in the PHX area?
I worked in the following add-ons AT dealer cost:
- Wheel locks
- Splash guards
- All season mats
- Trunk tray
- Door edge guards
- Chrome exhaust tip
ACTUAL dealer cost is $454 including labor. I got that in writing from the dealer, which I believe to be true since it's lower than the parts total if I bought them from www.handa-accessories.com and shipped them to my own home.
The invoice price difference between an 08 and 09 CR-V is $450 for this particular trim. Tell the dealer it makes no sense to buy an 08 if you can offset one year's worth of depreciation (typically $1000 or more a year) by paying for an 09 upfront. Dealers will understand this and be willing to work with you.
So I successfully negotiated 09 CR-V EX-L AWD w/ NAVI (Glacier Blue) at 08 invoice price ($27,068 incld destination) + $454 in add-ons + 5.5% tax ($1489) + $125 title/fees and extra negotiating to beat the competition = $28,750 OTD. That comes up to $826 below the 09 invoice price+dest.
Both dealers were willing to do this. Under invoice for 2009 and DEALER cost for add-ons is always possible, and who knows, someone out there may even do better. I'm helping a friend buy her first Honda, and I get a free steak dinner in return. And free season mats and key chain for me from the dealer for the referral.
I've been trying to buy a 08 or 09 CRV- LX 4WD for the last 3 months at invoice and these dealers want almost MSRP prices in this economy. Plus I'm paying cash and they don't seem to care or budge.
My quotes from Milwaukee dealers I got for a 08 LX 4WD were: (including destination) (11/11/08)
$20867.00
$20988.00
09 CRV LX 4WD: (Including Destination)
$21999.00
$22078.00
$21778.00
$21991.00
It seems like it was easier to get a fair price back 18 months ago when things were good.
One dealer has a goal of selling 250 new cars for this month alone. How the heck can you do that at these prices, yet the showfloor at the dealership this past week was basically empty with salespeople standing around smoking cigarettes outside the front doors of the dealership. What a great image for honda.
Help me out if you can.
Just want to buy without being jacked around.
