You may list the dealership, city & state where you purchased. Please do not request info about specific salespeople in the forums or by e-mail. This has led to "bird-dogging" for referral fees in the past, and we keep our Forums solicitation-free.

are you sure about this? I test drove a satin silver, and it was black interior. I purchased a silver moss and it also has black interior

I'm not sure why I post here because people never believe. When someone posts that they paid sticker or close to sticker no one has trouble believing them.

It's not a manual, it's an AT. It's not an LX it's an EX. Go to a newstand and buy a copy of Chicago's top selling daily newspaper. See the ad for the CR-V EX AT being sold for $21250 (plus ~$58 doc fee). Admittedly their price usually is $21500 but lately they are selling them for $21250.

In a large metro area there is plenty of competition and some don't mind selling for below invoice. I don't make it up and I don't question it.
  • fredddfreddd Member Posts: 14
I'm not suggesting that you are mistaken, but I was almost fooled by an ad run by the largest Honda dealer in the Boston metro area claiming a similar price for a CR-V. There was an asterisk and if you hunted long enough you could find the little note saying that the car was used, but only had 25 miles on it. You can bet they only had 1 in stock and it was sold befor the ad even ran. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is (man, am I getting old).

ACH Academy Honda, Old Bridge, NJ. I got through the internet quote. But I was told that the one we had is the last Pewter color. Our experience with him was very good, no hassel at all. Good luck to all of you.

Amazing, took the trouble to write three paragraphs and didn't provide the dealer's name.

"I'm not sure why I post here because people never believe. When someone posts that they paid sticker or close to sticker no one has trouble believing them." Did you actually read this statement after you wrote it?
  • drive62drive62 Member Posts: 637
I will take a closer look as I suppose anything is possible. Just quickly looking through these posts I see prices of $21700, so $200-450 less doesn't seem that out of line to me.

Wondering if anyone has an idea of how much prices for 2005 CRVs will drop once the 2006s are released in the fall. Is there a standard discount that most car dealerships adhere to? I'm planning on waiting until then to pick up my EX despite the lower selection that may be available by then.
    Great forum, thanks!

I bought a 2005 CRV LX AWD silver moss for 19,500 in South Jersey. This is $2410 off the MSRP, $780 off the dealer invoice, and $265 off the factory invoice. The "hold back" on the car was $641(3% of the base MSRP of $21, 395). Basically I paid $328 over the factory invoice price of $19,765 (Edmunds tmv) minus the "hold back". The car has a $169 pro-pack on it which the salesman said costs $350. I didn't want it and didn't pay for it unless you consider the $328 over factory FIP-"HB", which should really be the salesman's profit. There are no obvious incentives, rebates, or discounts on the CRV so on paper it looks like the salesman made no money on this one. I think he must have made something somewhere on it, but I think I did a respectable job negotiating.
I paid 19,500 for the car,
    1,170 taxes
125 doc fees (should be 50-wouldn't budge on that)
    242 registration
15.20 tire fee and online dmv reg fee
    21, 052.20 Total

Financed 14, 052 Fifth Third bank at 5.49%. was ready to finance via capital one at 5.65%, but they beat it.Hope this helps someone buy a CRV LX. We need to stick together.

    Got a quote from dealer in tri-state area for ($23500 + Destination ($515) + Admin. Fees + Tax) for CRV-EX SE 2005.

What do you think guys ....Plz respond.
  • crvchickcrvchick Member Posts: 4
Go to Edmunds.com to look for True Market Value.
The MSRP is $25,250 the factory invoice is $23, 321
The hold back is 3% of MSRP or $757.50 (this is what the salesman will make)
This means $23,321 minus 757.50 is $22,564.50 (this is what dealer really paid factory for car). A couple hundred profit is fair so you might add $300 and offer $22, 864.50 for the car with no options. Don't pay for any options you didn't ask for-walk out.
All you need to pay is price of car, taxes, registration and $50 or $100 documentation fee. Maybe another $15 for tire and online reg fee. Admin fees sounds like bs for whatever they want to charge. Good Luck!

    crvchick,

Thanks for your advice. Looks like $23,500 is not at all a great deal. I should look around final price of $25,550.

    Car + DMV + Destination = Total + Tax = Final Price.

    $22,900 + $100 + $515 = $23,515 + $2,035 = $25.550

Looks like a good deal. Also, all the options are in the trims, the CR-Vs don't have "options packages" - nice isn't it - if there's anything extra, it had been installed by the dealer. And the SE is loaded anyway. Good luck.
P.S. for more buying experience look up my posts from earlier in the month.
  • usnycususnycus Member Posts: 28
www.carsdirect.com is listing CRV Ex SE for $23,985 including destination for nYc.

Plz note that above price is after $300 discount offered by carsdirect if you finance through them.

I have just begun researching the new CR-V SE lease options.
Has anybody found a sign and drive deal under $380/ month for 36 month 15K per year.

Purchased a black Honda CRV SE 2005 for 26000 drive out in new jersey. I first went to toyota showroom to choose a rav but decided to take a second look at honda crv. When i noticed the new 2005 crv, it looked pretty huge than rav with more space etc.

    Hi all,

I've been looking for a CR-V EX for about 3 weeks and one of the dealer here in NC is offering a '05 EX for 22,000 without any accessories. I am planning to put $6,000 down and my fico score is around 675(no problem in history, but just limited length). What interest rate should I expect for the remaining $16K loan? If anybody has any idea, please post a comment.
    Thanks

I am currently leasing with GMAC and plan to finance next car with capital one or eloan. In NY,leasing company required to provide GAP insurance.
I asked my insurance company about GAP insurance and geico told me they do not provide GAP insurance. Progressive seems to offer.
Anyone financed through capital one or eloan in NY and had to get own GAP insurance or finance company offers or comes with loan?
    thanks :confuse:

I think thats a good price. I got a quote for 19564 in VA. Also, the quote has destination charge of $550. Is this something you can get away with?
  • kewlkewl Member Posts: 3
What do you guys think of this 2005 CR-V LX Auto AWD quote that is best of four dealers in Northern VA using Edmunds.

    Invoice: $19,764.75 Suggested Retail: $21,395.00
    Your Price: $19,564.75
    Destination Charge: $550.00
    Processing Fee: $279.00
    plus taxes.

Any suggestions about good Honda dealer in Northern VA or anywhere in 60-70 mile vicinity including MD/VA/DC
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,200
After you add the processing fee in, they are $69 over invoice...

That is a pretty good deal on a CR-V... Some posters report getting into the holdback, but that might be hard to do.....

I don't think you'd save more than a couple hundred more, if you shopped it to death..

I live in Iowa and while I have a number of dealers close, it's not like a Chicago market. My feel is they are running low on the SE models. I am unsure if I should try to make my best deal on the '05 or wait until the '06 models come out. I haven't seen anything on the 06 yet. I'd appreciate anyones opinions.

    Thanks

    Dear mr.usnycus.
I thought GAP is for us not for financing company.
you are saying currently you don't have GAP insurance or plan not to have GAP insurance since lender does not require one?
I think I am lost. where should I get GAP insurance if geico does not offer and finance company does not offer?

Why are you requiring GAP? Are you planning on getting the car "stolen" or "totaled" in the first 2 years of ownership? After that, the depriciation and the actual worth of the vehicle is equal. If you put $2000-$3000 down, you are not going to benefit form GAP at all. They will not reimburse your downpayment. GAP is good for people who are rolling over some chunk of negative equity and are not putting any money down. Which means they are already living beyond their means, and need to stop spending.

    Quote from local dealer:

$25659.00 out the door (no haggling). Includes vehicle, plates, destination, tax (6%), and all "processing" fees (whatever those are!).

I would guess that if negotiated with him, I may be able to do a little better - but we do not have Honda dealers on every corner like they may have in NYC. So I doubt they have the motivation others may have.

Before I actually buy, I will check some of the other dealers though.

Last weekend I purchased a new 2005 CR-V EX automatic in Silver Moss. No added options.

    vehicle price= $22,168
    destination price=$515
    dealer doc fees= $188
    plus taxes.

Dealer matched quoted price from another dealer out of town and was able to obtain the specific color I wanted from another dealership. Very pleased.

If amount of money you owe on your car is more then the current value of the car, you will need GAP. Otherwise its a waste.

Also, keep in mind that as soon as you walk out of dealer door with keys, $2K--3K is gone from current market value of a car.

Most people get that cause it's required by dealer/manufacturer (in lease) or dealer recommendation (low downpayment). Check following for details regarding insurance.

I have been shopping too. Am leaning towards waiting a while and then going for the 2006 CR-V SE because of my personal money situation even though I'd love one now.

Anyway.......the dealer I have spoken with and is very upfront with me told me that the 2006 line will indeed have an SE line. And this is from a guy trying to get me to buy the 05.

We have decided to purchase a CRV EX. For financial reasons, we thought we should wait a few months. However, how much more should we expect to pay for a 2006 early in the season as opposed to a 2005 now? If it is too much more, we may be better off trying to find a way to buy it now. Thanks for any input. We have no idea what sort of price difference to expect.
  • brentkbrentk Member Posts: 3
I have used all of my internet wizardry I can muster to search for anything about the 2006 CR-V. Really nothing to speak of. A few color additions, but that is about all anyone will admit to. If this is indeed the case, I doubt very much the base price will go up. On the other hand, the 2005's will be considered an older model year and they should give you a better break on price. So it is really how much your willing to gamble on waiting to get the best price on an '05 vs. someone else buying it out from underneath you. Either way - I don't think we are talking big $$.

FWIW, I did see find a web site (hondasuv.com I think) that had a sketch/rendering of an '07 CR-V. They copied this picture and data from some Japanese or Korean website and translated it. Very sweet looking. Looks like they took some of the styling cues from the 2006 Civic Si that will be out shortly. Unfortunatly, I can't wait 'til late 2006 + the first model year of a new platform is asking for trouble. I would have to wait 'til 2008/09 for a model with all the kinks worked out. Wow - that seems like a long ways away!

Silver Moss EX with auto trans in Chicago's south 'burbs. APR: 5.9% for 60 months

    Vehicle: $21,753 (invoice)
    Destination: $515
    Doc Fees: $55
    IL Sales Tax: $1,575
    Title & Registration: $80
    Total: $23,978 before trade-in

In addition, I was able to get them to throw in a cargo tray, the cargo net, as well as the hard spare tire cover.
  • turtleshellturtleshell Member Posts: 2
Negotiated over email with a dealer on a silver moss EX 05 AT and got the lowest offer so I gave them a call to come check out the car (with the intention to buy it that day). The general sales manager says they have to drive it from their port lot to the dealer lot, so we set up a time in the evening, and we drive an hour from our home to the dealer. No point during the conversation did the sales manager say that the car they were bringing to the dealership lot has already been sold. We only find this out when we get to the dealership, and they say they would need to locate another or we would have to wait two weeks for next shipment. They then brag how they sold 40 cars today, and showed me the CRVs sold that day, but none of them were Silvermosses, meaning they knew well that the car was already sold.

Is this a common thing or pretty slimy? Other dealerships told us up front whether we needed to wait or not for a silver Moss to come in, while this dealer gave us the impression they had a car in stock for us the whole time.

Is there any trade involved? From where you got financed? What was the rate?

$23,300 (including Destination) is very good deal for CRV SE. Even after two weeks dealing with dealer in NYC, I am not able to bring them down to that price.

Do you mind sharing dealer name/place?

I traded in my VW (got close to expected amount)
Rest was financed thru American Honda Finance Co. 48m @ 5.10%
I offered 23,400 at first for Pewter Pearl Color but they countered it with 23,300 if I take White or Beige color. (I guess those colors are not popular)

Several dealers in NYC area was offering close to 23,400 - 23,600 range
I am not so sure I can share the Honda dealer name (according to Host's message before), but I was quoted with that price from two dealers in Bergen county, NJ and one in Long Island.

    Hello,
I would like to know how the following offer compares to what others have found.
    2005 CR-V SE
    15,000 miles per year
    4 years
Cap cost of vehicle - $23,436
    Residual - $11,094
    Money factor - .0016
    Monthly payment range - $340 - $360

I'm waiting for a copy of their offer sheet to determine what they are offering for our trade (2002 CRV W/42,000 miles) and confirm zero down
  • panda71panda71 Member Posts: 6
well,,, I was contacting them thru their internet dept. and was assigned to whomever available.

I've got mine from DCH Paramus Honda.
I've received similar quotes from Open Road Honda, Metro Honda and Rt 22 Honda in NJ. PS Honda in Long Island was only NY dealer willing for that price range.

IMHO, Month end sales drive to meet their sales target no was greatest factor on the price.

    Hope this helps.

What is a documentation fee? I was told that all dealers charge a documentation fee and I am wondering if that's a fact or not? Anyone heard of this or paid it?
