A debut means that the new Ody will be unveiled and that official info will be officially released.
By my reckoning we are about 100 days away from actually driving one.
Any one willing to wager against me that it is NOT the new Ody?
For example, why not get the Lexus LX 470, stretch it to 205 inches long, add dual power sliding doors and power liftgate, add 2nd and 3rd row Magic seats, and you got yourself a cool looking Lexus LUM--that's Luxury Utility Minivan or Lexus MX 470!
Well, alright, okay, now I'm really drifting off to Lola land:-)
This makes sense because the new Accord is quieter than the last Accord, but still not as quiet as the Camry.
Let's face it, Acura/Honda will NEVER be as quiet as Lexus/Toyota.
But as long as it is quieter than the current Ody and has better equipments and better price than the Sienna, we'll just have to find it in our little hearts to forgive Honda.
...when they are turned off and sitting in the garage!
;-)
Apparently we just can't have it both ways. That's just life.
But I'll take better instrument panel, better NAV, and lower price over quieter and smoother ride.

Okay, the current Ody is 2 dBA louder than the Sienna according to C&D's latest issue. But if the new Ody can match the T&C @ 69dBA, then that's pretty good. You never know though. C&D might have the Ody @67dBA and Sienna @68dBA, and then change it later:-)
I mean come on. What's more important? A good looking front grille or quieter, smoother ride? Why, of course, it's the grille. I rest my case!
That's like saying Toyotas handle great, if you drive it in a straight line only. :-)
Hey, wait just a minute here. Was dako_tian saying that Hondas are loud except for when they are parked inside the garage?
Or was he just saying Hondas aren't that much louder than Toyotas especially when they're parked inside the garage--as a joke?
Man, I feel slow!
Which reminds me of a famous philosophical question (slightly mangled version): If a man speaks in the forest and no woman is there to hear him, is he still wrong?
Compitition is grand. Maybe this will force Toyota to add a power drivers seat to the LE, and actually produce some moonroof LEs for the NE.

I agree the '05 Odyssey EX will hurt the sale of the Sienna LE. My Sienna LE has one power sliding door and no power driver seat like I used to have on my '00 Odyssey.
In this case, my wife insists on a power drivers seat. On the Sienna, that means an XLE for 3K plus extra, with none of the difference anything I really want.
That's why I think the Ody will force TOyota to at least offer a power/convenience package, taking a few things from the XLE and adding them to the LE.

Now, if you just don't want one, that is a different story, but the Honda tradition is for the EX model to come standard with the roof. From what has been surmissed here, it sounds like the roof will be on the EX-L only, so you can choose between roof and leather.

Plant closes for the week leading up to July 4. When they start back, they will work 4 hours on the 04 and 4 hours on the 05. 8-11-04 will start the 05 all the time. He was told to expect to work on Sat.
How creative is Honda taking the old Ody and old CR-V, merge them, and call it "totally redesigned"?
No way. There may be similarities, but not the same.
Doesn't it seem suspicious to get a picture like that? Where's the background? Wouldn't it be easier for someone to just take a picture with a digital camera?
With that being said, I don't think that green picture is bad looking.
And the main concern will still be the interior.
Aren't they affraid of getting fired?
Did bamaboy get fired or did they just give him a warning?
3 accross seating in the middle row.
good gas mileage (if VCM improves mileage by the 20% that DC claims for the hemi, then hwy mileage should push 30)
Reasonably priced and available. (hopefully the improved Sienna will help in this area)
Not too concerned about safety, because I know that will be good, nor am I concerned about handling because I know it will be "minivan like" but secure enough.

As for the picture. He said that was it. Take him at his word or not. Does not matter to me.
Also, interesting that this picture is hosted by a European website. Beyond the reach of Honda's legal department?
So long as you trust that the deposit is indeeed refundable (which I do), it seems like the way to go to me. As soon as details are out, you sit down to formalize the order and you are at the top of the list...and if the Ody is a disappointment, you just take the refund.
