Looking at leasing a 2016 MDX w/ Technology in Northern California. Not sure how much changes between the base vs. adding the tech package?

Dealer is quoting a sales price of 45.8K.

Can you help with the MF and Residual on 36 mos. / 15K per year in my area?

Lately, the Acura numbers are for both FWD and AWD.

If it's not the base model, the numbers are all the same - Tech, Advance, etc.

This is what the dealer came back with... Something seems off and from reading i. These forums it seems others are getting better deals.

"This is for a 2016 MDX AWD with the Technology package and Acura watch. 36 months with 12k miles per year payment is $627.23 with $702.23 due at signing. That's your first payment and license plates.
The money factor is 0.000630 and the residual value is 59%($30,331.90). The payment is based on a sale price to you of $48,996!"

I get the same figures.
Their MF and residual match what we quoted you above.
Add the $595 acq.fee and about $1420 in tax to the selling price for an estimated CAP cost of $51000, and it results in a payment of $625/mo. That's awfully close, considering we don't have the exact CAP cost number.

If you are happy with the $2400 discount from MSRP, the numbers are on the money. The selling price is the place to lower the payment. The rest of it is very straightforward.

Residual of 61%, MF of 0.00095. Taxes of around 1300 and Other costs of 1200 + first month payment of $540.

Using your numbers, I get a payment of $452/mo.

Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is -- if different than the selling price, find out what's been added.

I confirm the .00095 MF and 61% residual.

Michaell, don't you add taxes, other costs and 1 month advance payment in the cap cost calculation? There is no cap cost reduction in the quote. What cap cost do you use? thanks

I don't know those numbers, so I don't include them. If you have a net cap cost, I can rerun the calculations. Otherwise, I assume that you pay those costs up front.

Acura doesn't support the money factor on 48 month leases, so..

.00160 MF and 51%/49% residual

For 36 months.
.00063 MF and 59%/57% residual

The Acura numbers are good until 02 November.

2016 MDX Tech 36/12 - 59% and .00063. Add 1% for 10K. Acura does not offer 7,500 mile leases.

If you want a cost-effective lease deal, skip the add-ons. You are paying 100% for them, while only paying for 33% of the vehicle price.

Can't check your price without state/tax rate, and a breakdown of where that $4500 is going.

Trade payoff is $31,622 and dealer's trade allowance is 28,000. Dealer is covering last 5 months of payments which total around $3,100. Need advice on whether to go for that. Dealer says because they are absorbing last 5 month payoffs they won't negotiate on MSRP. Does that sound right? Please excuse my ignorance; I'm not good at this negotiating stuff.

The dealer isn't really covering your payments. When they take your vehicle in trade, they are paying off the lease. So, they are out the difference between the current value ($28K according to them) and the lease payoff number ($31,622, according to you). Once they payoff the lease in that manner, there are no payments to cover.

That $3600 is basically coming out of your pocket. They've told you as much, by refusing to discount the vehicle.

More or less, you are paying to lease that BMW for the next 5 months, even though you won't have it. I wouldn't do that. Why not wait to shop for another vehicle, closer to lease end?

Thanks for the info. We may end up waiting until lease end. We are looking to get a larger car now because my husband has mobility problems and is having trouble getting into and out of X3. Also, we don't have a lot of room to put his wheelchair in back of X3. We just have to decide whether it's worth what we would have to pay.

Would residual and MF for 10K/year be the same?

Based on Acura.com published prices, $56,000 listed as MSRP in your post, is inclusive of $920 destination. Please confirm if the dealership had asked you to "pay" another destination charge under the Adjustments to make your discount look bigger? Is this an error?

Looking at a MDX SH-AWD with Tech package (MSRP = $50,210; potential offer price = $46,000) in Massachusetts. We have $3,000 to $6,000 to reduce the capital cost (call it 3K). We are interested in 36 month lease at 15K miles per year. What is a reasonable monthly lease payment to expect (sales tax in MA is 6.25%)? What are current MF and residual values for this vehicle?
