Can you tell me if this is a good deal. I'm turning in my 2013 Acura MDX (base model w/running boards & roof rack) I have 4 pymts left at $439 /month with 31700 miles on it- They said my appraisal is $27500 and my residual value is 24378.75. They said it is a wash. I wasn't sure about this part, so didn't feel wise enough to negotiate.

ACURA MDX AWD WITH TECH PKG

    MSRP $50,210
    SALE PRICE $44,900
$1500 - Accessory Fee (Running Boards & Roof Rack)
    $1751.69 - Includes Acquisition Fee $595 + First Month + other Doc/registration/plates
    36/12
    Residual 61% & MF .00110
He came up with payment of $555.69

Is this a good deal? I was going to ask them to through in running boards&rack.

    I'm in NJ

Hi Crob, which dealer in NJ, can you share?

I get a payment that is about the same as what you quote - could be rounding issues that account for the difference.

I put in the numbers shared by the dealer on the bankrate website, I see a monthly difference of $100, am I doing something wrong?

Auto Lease Calculator What will the auto lease really cost?

    Enter the MSRP: 51410
    Final Negotiated Price: 47199
    Down Payment: 3000
Usage Tax (Sales Tax) (%): 7
    Length of Lease (months): 36
    New Car Lending Rate (%): 2.88 ( using MF of .0012 )
Car Value at End of Loan: 32902

Capitalized Cost: $ 47199.00 51410.00 MSRP minus discount
    Lease Price: $ 44199.00 minus $ 3000.00 down payment
    Residual Value: $ 32902.00 after 36 months
Depreciation Fee: $ 313.81 part of lease payment
Lease Fee: $ 92.52 part of lease payment
Monthly Payment: $ 406.33 without tax
    Usage Tax: $ 28.44 7.00 % of 11297.00
Total Monthly Payment: $ 434.77 What you pay

The dealer is asking for $ 533 /mo.

Calculators don't ask a lot of questions.

Is your $3000 the full amount due at signing? Or, is it all CAP cost reduction, with 1st payment and other costs added?

Why use .0012 for the money factor?

Where is the acquisition fee accounted for?

What state do you live in, and how do they tax leases?

  • Hi,

I live in California and I just received a quote from an Acura Dealer for a 2016 MDX with tech and Acurawatch plus.

With $0 down and only first months payment, tax, title and fees of $1,137.10 total out of pocket
36 months at 10,000 miles per year = $545.21 plus tax ($591.55 including tax)
    Residual Value $31,874.20

With $3,500 down total out of pocket
36 months at 10,000 miles per year = $480.45 plus tax ($521.29 including tax)
    Residual Value $31,874.20

Does this look like a good deal ? Is it better to look for a lease vs a buy decision here. Pls advise.
  • Just received a further update from the dealer on the above offer:

We would need to know the MSRP and selling price in order to fully evaluate the lease offers

Regarding lease vs. buy, I suppose it depends on how much you drive and how long to plan to keep the car.

  • Hi Michaell,

Thank you you for your reply. The MSRP is $51410 which is for the Acura MDX 2016 AWD with Tech and Acurawatch.

I might use this vehicle for approximately 10000 miles a year as I work mainly from home.

Also, would you have any idea on the range insurance cost would be, I have been in the U.S. For 2 years with a California license and had a driving license overseas since 1999 with no history of any accidents or any other incidents.

    Best regards,

    Moses

We don't recommend making a cap cost reduction on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money. Better to add the $62/mo to the payment and keep that money in your bank account.

Is the lease selling price the same as the finance selling price?

MF .0012 was from the dealer.

    1st months payment of $3000
    $320 DMV
    $399 doc
    $8.05 online reg
    $7.50 NJ tire tax
    $1700 (approx) cap cost reduction

My state is NJ. Using the revised numbers, I get a monthly payment of $475. Does this sound correct?

The dealer asked for a $3000 out of pocket, I think I missed the 1st month payment inclusion in there (my bad).

    The breakup is:
    1st months payment $533
    $320 DMV
    $399 doc
    $8.05 online reg
    $7.50 NJ tire tax
    $1700 (approx) cap cost reduction

Looks fine now - is the $399 doc fee normal?

Looking for the MF and residual on a FWD Advance 36 months/12k per year
$54,000 MSRP including destination. Hoping to lock today.

    Thank you
  • I am in SF Bay Area and received a quote for a base fwd MDX at $499 mo incl tax with $900 down for 36/10. Sounds pretty decent when comparing to the national offer for the MDX. Dealer didn't show any math. Can someone please provide MF and residual. Thanks!

  • Hello. Looking at a 2016 AWD Tech Pack for $579 a mo 15k/36 $2k supposedly for tax tittle and fees in NJ. Going to dealership tomorrow (Labor Day). No specific car has been selected so I'm only working off AWD tech Pack MSRP of 49,290.
    1. MF and Risidual for AWD Tech and AWD Tech+Acura Watch
    2. Anything specific I should look out for?
    3. Can I get this deal lower?

.00110 MF and 59% residual for either model.

Big dealer doc fees.. charges for accessories or service plans that you don't need. The same thing you'd look out for on any car purchase.

A lot is dependent on the selling price.

Based on True Car the Avg is 47,440 as the sale price.
Assuming thats the price I negotiate, does 579mo 15/36 50210 MSRP with 2k to cover taxes title and fees sound solid?
