I've lined up the following deal. It looks good to me, just looking for any thoughts on it.

MDX AWD w/ Tech no AW
    36 months
    10k / year
    Sales price $45,465 including destination
    Money Factor 0.0011
    Residual 62% / $31,130.20
    DMV fee $192.50
    Doc fee $395
    Acq fee $595
    Sales tax $ 1,712.17
Works out to $535.89 / month
    Up front fees are a total of $1718.39 (1st month+DMV fee+Doc fee+Acq fee)

    This is in NYS.

    Thanks!

I get $532/mo, which could be due to rounding errors in my calculations. If you're comfortable with the selling price, no reason not to pull the trigger.

    Hello -

Does this sound like a good deal:

    MSRP = $51,410
    Selling price = $49,139
    MF = .00110
    Residual = $31,360
Monthly payment is $630 for a 36 mth/12K miles per year
First month's payment and registration fees due at signing = $1,322

this is on a 2016 MDX AWD w/ Tech and Watch +

I get $582/mo + tax with those numbers; if your tax rate is around 8%, you are right in the ballpark.

Thank you. I'm not sure the tax rate so I need to find out. I think it's more in the 6% range but could be wrong.
  • nana0427nana0427 Posts: 17
So to lower the payment I would either have to negotiate a better selling price or put some money down - which I believe is not a good idea on a lease - correct?

Correct - lower selling price or money down. And we do not recommend money down on a lease.

Okay thanks. If the sales tax is 6% - then how are they getting a higher payment?

Something has been added to the cap cost ... get them to confirm all the numbers.

Hello again - I asked the dealer about the sales tax and he said it is 3% and applied to the monthly base payment. So my payment should be $599. What could have been added to the cap cost for me to inquire about? Thanks!

If not paid up front, there is the bank fee, the dealer fee, the license or tag costs for your state and other miscellaneous gov't fees.

Thanks. Reached out to the dealer and found out that the net cap cost includes $595 lease origination fee and $429 for three dealer-installed accessories consisting of splash guards, wheel locks, tri-fold cargo try. They are willing to remove the protections package to lower the payment to $617 but the origination fee has to stay.

The $595 bank fee is mandated and cannot be removed, as you've learned.

One more question. I might consider a 2015 MDX AWD with Tech. What is the MF and residual for this vehicle in NC?

    Thanks!

All MDX trim levels (except the base) have the same numbers - .00110 and 61% for 36/12.

The calculations are correct. The lease program is very good on this model, currently. If you are happy with the selling price, then it's a good deal.

  • Heading to the Dealer tonight to test drive the NSX with Tech Package here in Scottsdale, Arizona. We are comparing to a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x2. Has anyone owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee then traded to Acura to give us some intel?

Also, what is the typical MF, Residual, and Negotiated price, fees, etc. for our area? We are looking to do a 3 Year/15K mile Lease and don't mind putting some money down to get the payment down.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Lease numbers are 59% for 36/15 and .00110.

We recommend against putting money down on a lease; if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

I am looking for a 2016 MDX With tech package. Dealer quoted $44,500 selling price. I stay in VA. Going by 59% residual and 0.00110 MF for 15k/yr 36 month lease, I am getting a $575-580 p/m lease. Is my calculation correct? Also, what taxes/overhead should I expect? And by how much will that affect the monthly lease if I roll in all the overheads? Thanks!

    What is the MSRP?

Every $1000 you roll into the lease increases your payment about $28/mo. I believe VA taxes the entire selling price of the vehicle.

    I confirm the .00110 and 59% residual.

There are only two variables in a lease - the negotiated selling price and the MF. You want the lowest price possible and ensure the MF isn't marked up by the dealer.

.00110 MF and 62% residual, assuming it's not the base model.

I get $567/mo.+tax with those numbers. About $612./mo.

    $2000 seems a little high for drive-off. $500 title/license/fees, $595 acq.fee, $605 1st payment? Maybe the extra $300 is what gets the payment down by $7/mo.

If you are happy with the selling price, it looks like a good deal.

Base MF is .00110, so it's been marked up a bit.

36/10 residual is 62%; dealer can't modify that.

What is the breakdown of the $3000?

Also, what state and tax rate is this?

Thanks for the response, this for NJ. 7% tax. Have asked the dealer on the 3k breakdown. He gave 32,902 a s residual, I did the %, basically 32902.4/51410.

Can you tell me if this is a good deal. I'm turning in my 2013 Acura MDX (base model w/running boards & roof rack) I have 4 pymts left at $439 /month with 31700 miles on it- They said my appraisal is $27500 and my residual value is 24378.75. They said it is a wash. I wasn't sure about this part, so didn't feel wise enough to negotiate.

ACURA MDX AWD WITH TECH PKG

    MSRP $50,210
    SALE PRICE $44,900
$1500 - Accessory Fee (Running Boards & Roof Rack)
    $1751.69 - Includes Acquisition Fee $595 + First Month + other Doc/registration/plates
    36/12
    Residual 61% & MF .00110
He came up with payment of $555.69

Is this a good deal? I was going to ask them to through in running boards&rack.

    I'm in NJ

I agree with the MF and residual numbers.

Using your MSRP and $46,400 as the cap cost, I get $559.44/mo with tax (7%, right?).

Pretty close to the dealer quote. If you back out the $1500 of accessories, the payment will drop about $40-45/mo.
