Thanks for your quick reply Michaell. Yes the $3500 includes 8.625% sales tax on the entire lease amount, a $700 "bank fee" and DMV fees. Using "True Car" pricing and a lease calculator, I come up with $550/month as a fair deal and $525/mo. as a great deal (this would be for cap cost of $52.5-53.5k). The MSRP of $59,575 also includes a $995 destination fee and a $300 "advertising fee".
The salesmen all want to focus on the monthly payment, ie what monthly payment are you willing to pay? My answer is the monthly payment that corresponds to the lowest cap cost for the vehicle.
Thanks again for any insight into a fair cap cost for the loaded QX60.

I don't track selling prices (and, I've never shopped in that price range) - you can use the "make / model / year" pull downs to get the Edmunds pricing, or read back through the last few pages in this discussion to see what others have been able to negotiate.

Thanks Michaell. I've never shopped in this price range either so I'm hoping not to be ripped off by the dealer. I'll go in with the "True Car" pricing printout and try to hold the dealer to as close a number to the low end as possible for the cap cost. If I strike a deal I'll post my results here for others to use in their negotiations.

You might want to try the edmunds price promise as well.

    Two questions:
    1. Can you please confirm the 12K/39 and 15K/39 numbers for the AWD in FLA?
    2. If I lease a demo (car used by the dealer, but never titled), is the residual still calculated off of MSRP?

    Thank you!

    1. .00089 and 56% / 58%
    2. The residual is still calculated from the MSRP, but is then adjusted downward based on the number of miles the car has. I don't know the specific per mile rate deduction, but probably between .10-.25 per mile.

    Hi Folks,

I leased a QX60 assuming that the difference between purchase upfront vs. lease first then purchase, due to my mistake in the calculations. I've now realized that the difference is about $6000.

It looks like the dealer has processed my lease (i.e., put in the system and sent to bank for approval etc) on 8/31.

Is there any chance I can convert this lease in to a purchase option? Does this kind of scenario common and the dealer can do something about this?

Or should I contact Infinity Finance and request to convert that to a purchase option?

Please understand that I don't want to terminate my lease, instead I want to void the lease transaction and buy it upright as a purchase. Since, both purchase finance and lease finance is thru the same Infinity finance, would there be a chance to do so?

    Thanks for the help...

All you can do is contact the dealer and / or IFS and ask ... but, I'm not optimistic that the deal can be converted from a lease to a purchase at this juncture.

Keep us posted on what you learn. I wouldn't mind being wrong this time!

    Hi,

The dealer agreed to unwind the lease deal and make it into a retail purchase. However, he is asking for $1600 extra to do so (he is quoting $1450 bank charges and $150 doc fee). I'm not sure if that really is a bank charge, or he is planning to add that to his profit.

Is it worth going for this option? The amount I would be paying extra if I lease and then purchase after the lease end, it would be about $4500 (however, this would be over a period of 8 years).

    What you suggest?

    Regards,

So far as I know, there aren't "bank charges" for a purchase, so I would push back on that. But, is it unreasonable for them to ask for a bit more money to accommodate you?

At the end of the day, I don't make decisions about other peoples' money  If you are comfortable with the new terms, and it saves you money in the long run, no reason not to sign.

    Hi,
Would appreciate some thoughts on the following lease offer from Infiniti dealer in Ohio:
    2015 QX 60 Prem/Prem Plus/Theater Pkg

    MSRP: 52925
Total Cap: 49,944.94 (Includes Cap cost of 47,421, 250 doc fee, 1493 tax, 700 bank fee, 80 license)

    Residual: 56%

First month payment only due on delivery

    Monthly Payment: $607.44 39 months, 15k miles

Seems like there is room to negotiate?

    Thanks in advance.

I get about $592/mo with your numbers; wonder if there is something else being added to the cap cost ($585 worth, roughly)

We just leased a QX60 with the Premium and Nav - I believe sticker was roughly $52k - with 12k miles per year and the returning lessee credit of $1000 for zero down and $475/mo - we did use the max MSD's which brought the payment down quite a bit. Just an FYI - there are great deals out there...

hi Michaell, thanks for your direct and indirect help over the years. I am looking an FWD QX60 on 39/15K here in TX with premium and premium plus. The dealer insists the residual is 55%. Can you please confirm? I see you have posted 56%. Can they change the residual or is it different by state.

The numbers are national ... and, AWD is more popular in most of the country where white stuff shows up in the winter months.

Hi folks--first time leasing and I'm looking at the QX60. Infinity is running their tv commercial (their take on National Lampoons Vacation). 1. Are the nationally advertised leases normally a good deal? 2. Can I do better? If so, how? 3. Ideally, I want to put as little as possible down but I am willing to put down up to $3500. What do you recommended? FYI: I have an outstanding credit score--over 800. I really appreciate some feedback and help. Thanks in advance. The advertised tv deal is as follows:

2015 QX60 3.5L AWD equipped with Premium Package
    Down Payment: $3,100
    Security Deposit: $0
    Lease Cash: $0
    Annual Mileage: 10,000
Lease is based on the 2015 QX60 3.5L AWD equipped with Premium Package. MSRP as equipped is $44,795. Dealer contribution is required for the $399 monthly payment. $3,499 is due at signing. Tax, tags and insurance are extra. Must finance through Infiniti Financial Services.

I'm signing the lease now for a QX60 premium with drivers assistance package.  MSRP 48k, total cap cost of 40,245.  Monthly payment is $329 plus tax with 2273 drive off (including first month's payment). How does this sound?? Was told the residual was 58%.
  • qphan79qphan79 Member Posts: 5
I ended up putting down $2800 for MSD, total drive off was $3200 but $2800 refundable.  Changed my monthly payment to 355/month plus tax.

Yes you can do better. You really need to read through posts here, and find some of the leasing guides online to educate yourself on the ins and outs of leasing.

Rule #1, negotiate on the selling price of the car, not payment. Ignore MSRP, its a meaningless term in this day and age. You should be negotiating off or the invoice price of the car.

Rule #2 do not put money down on a lease. Its OK to pay cash to cover some of the fees, but do not do a cap cost reduction. I prefer to pay no cash at drive-off since the interest rate is so low at this time. I roll everything into the lease.

Rule #3 If you have the cash to do so, and the manufacturer offers them use Multiple Security Deposits (MSDs). Infinti does offer them, and you can save a considerable amount of money on your monthly lease payment, and get your deposit back at the end of the lease. I am saving ~$150 a month on my two Infiniti leases by going the MSD route.

Thanks for the advice. I've never leased but I own a business and can use the deduction. I've been reading about MSD's and sounds like a great way to lower payments. Is there a scenario where you could loose your deposit? Also, what do you mean by "don't do a cap cost reduction"? Are you referring to a down payment?

You could lose your deposit if you default on the lease. Cap cost reduction is a very specific term meaning you are paying down the amount you are financing of the selling price of the car. Down payment is a very general term when leasing which could include cap cost reduction, bank fee, TTL, etc.

    AWD or FWD?

    Which state is this?

On the surface, doesn't look like that great of a deal for the outgoing 2015 model.

At that MSRP and CAP cost, I get $560/mo+tax.

That's a little under your payment, but didn't see a provision for the $700 acq.fee in there, anywhere.

HI All, I have the following quote. QX60, AWD with Premium and Premium Plus (with rear protection bumper, kick plates and roof rails). MSRP of $50,695. Adjusted Cap cost of $44,695. MF of .00089; residual of 58%; 12k/39months. Monthly payment of $531.22 (includes tax). $0 drive off. They are waiving remaining two payments on current jx35 and lease turn in fee as well. Good deal? If I do drive off off $1200 monthly with tax is $499. Southern California. LA County.

If the tax rate is 9%, I get $499.27/mo with your numbers.

What is the breakdown of the $1200 due at signing in the second scenario?

.00089 MF and 58% residual (either term) for AWD
    Subtract 1% for FWD

I ended up putting down $2800 for MSD, total drive off was $3200 but $2800 refundable.  Changed my monthly payment to 355/month plus tax.

For how many months and How many miles per year? Which state.

I live in FL and I'm looking into a Premium QX60 which is more than I need. MSRP is $46720 an they are asking around $560/month with $1900 down, over the phone of course.
If I go in person, they should be able to deal better so my question is, where should I be around, is $3000 reduction fair? If they can do that and I come with $1900 out of pocket, what will be a good deal?
Has to be either 36 or 39 and 12K.

.00055 and 58% for 36/10. Note that the 39/10 residual is also 58%, which makes your payment a bit smaller.

Just getting started with negotiations, but this site has been a big help already. My first offer from Infiniti is a QX60, AWD, with Premium package and a few smaller accessories. MSRP is $48225. They offered Purchase price of $43050. For a 39 mth, 10K lease it was quoted $469/month with only $469 due at signing.

How does this sound? My next steps are to incorporate MSD's into the equation but at first glance it seemed that purchase price quoted was pretty good compared to invoice/MSRP. Thx!

    .00055 MF and 58% residual

I get $444/mo.+tax, adding in a $700 acq.fee, so it looks pretty good.

5 MSDs would take the MF down to .00005, and drop the payment by $36/mo.+tax.
