Hi. I saw the current offer for 449 mo 36mos 2999 due at signing and complimentary first month payment
I spoke to a local dealer he said 2300 goes to cap reduction 700 bank fees and the u need 1816 on top for taxes. Is this a good deal?
It's just an OK deal. We don't recommend making any sort of cap reduction on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.
And, the national or regional deal uses a selling price you should be able to beat with decent negotiation skills.
Negotiate the selling price just like you would for a purchase, watch out for any hidden fees, and make sure the dealer isn't inflating the money factor on you (.00090 this month for the GS).
Up front costs would include first month's payment, bank fee, license or registration costs, and, depending on where you live, sales tax.
Hello all, I'm just starting my search for a GS 350 F-Sport RWD in the Southern CA area. Got a quote from dealer and want to see if the math works out or if they're somehow sneaking in additional fees/costs?
Residual 64% Money Factor 0.00110 (I don't know why, but this is higher than the 0.0009 that is going around in this forum)
When I do the math, using selling price of $52,458, monthly payment should be $574. Am I missing something?...how'd they get $594.07. Also, the sales tax that is shown as a line item, is that divided over the 36 months of term of the lease (so am I paying a portion of that over 36 months)? Sales tax in my area is 8%.
Finally, is this a good deal or is there room to bring down the negotiated price? Thank you all for your help/advice/input.

Tax rules vary by state.. Which one?
California
California applies sales tax to the monthly payment - not sure why there is a line item that quotes $4200 in sales tax. Dealer might think it's a purchase?
As noted, the MF is marked up on you. Politely but firmly explain that you won't sign a deal with an inflated MF. Work with a second Lexus dealer - the competition will only help you get the best pricing and terms.
You should be able to get a 57.6k loaded GS with 10k miles for around 51k before the 1800 lease cash and first month free payment. Buy down the rate with multiple security deposits and you can be out the door under 400 a month with 1100 or so OOP

Roughly $2,000 below invoice before the $1,800 lease cash? Wow.
Our last few new purchases have been BMWs and the general rule of thumb for negotiating sales price is invoice plus, generally $500-$1000 based on model. What's the strategy with Lexus? I assume there are dealer incentives that go against invoice?

Seems like even if Lexus is giving them a 2-3% dealer holdback for each vehicle sold these dealer are still making $0 out in Cali. Is the dealerhold back just THAT high for the GS, 4%?? More than that??
I think the strategy could be just to move cars to increase the allotment of 16s. I read that the 16s might be getting a refresh on the GS, to look a little more like the GS F that was just released. Please don't overpay for this car. Its a beauty, but the deals are out there, at least in Cali.
Yeah, I've seen really good deals in CA posted on other forums. Are CA dealers restricted from leasing to customers outside of their region? Might be worth paying shipping to the South. Anyone know of a sales person in the southeast that will give CA-like deals? I can't seem to find one.

I believe Lexus, like Toyota, has a single distributor for the entire SE region of the US. The lease numbers may be different and the dealers may not be willing to cut as great a deal on the selling price as other parts of the country.

So I'm in the process of getting quotes in Illinois for a GS350 and I'm getting a lot of confusion and even push back when I mention MSD's. One of the sales guys said it wouldn't make a difference "because the MF is already so low." I know that's not true but I'm wondering if I should even bother with a salesmen who dismisses it right away.
Do you bring up the MSD's during the negotiation of the sales price or only when you're talking to the finance dept? Also does anyone know how much MF each MSD lowers? I've read .0001 and I've also seen .00008. The MF is already .0007 so I'm curious as to what is the lowest MF it can be lowered to.

Lots of Lexus dealers in the Chicagoland area - I'm sure there's one out there that will accommodate your desire to use MSD's to buy down the MF.
The lowest MF allowed by Lexus after MSDs is .00001

Cannot do MSD in NY.
I know that, but I can still get the the car from an NJ dealer and do a few MSD to lower the money factor
Right? I have not leased a lexus yet I currently have a 2013 G37x
I have heard others leasing in Jersey using MSD and registering the car in NY

Help!
Yes, I believe NJ dealers often lease to NY residents and can use MSD to lower the MF.
So I would like to thank everyone for your help. This was the deal I did today in the Chicagoland, IL area. I'm going to put all the numbers except the ones you can pretty much calculate on your own because I want anyone else shopping in my area to have complete transparency.
2015 GS 350 AWD MSRP: 55415 36/15
Cap cost: 52075.52 Taxes: 1877.00 Acq fee: 700 Gross cap cost: 54652.52
The $1800 dealer cash was used as cap cost reduction.
Residual: 65% MF: 0.0007
Amount due at lease signing or delivery Cap cost reduction: $1800 (dealer lease cash) First monthly payment: $514.63 (credit 1st monthly payment promo) Refundable security deposit: $5175 Title fees: $95 License fees: $101 Acq fee: N/A (rolled into cap cost) Document fee: $168.43 Electronic filing fee: $25 Total: $7879.06 $1800 + $514.63= $2314.63 to be paid by dealer as above Net amount due at signing: $5564.43
Preliminary monthly payment was $574.80. This was higher because they charged the tax on the 9 MSD's I put down. I put down $575 * 9 for a total of $5175.
This lowered the MF to 0.00001 (the lowest it can go) and brought the payment to $514.63.
From looking at the deals online it looks like people are getting even lower sale prices in CA but after going around to 3-4 dealers back and forth, this was the best I could do in my area.
The sales manager was knowledgable about the MSD's but the finance guy had apparently never done it in the 8 years he's been there. They all kept saying since the MF is so low, why bother? But as you can see the savings are $60.17 *36 months= $2166.12 over the course of the lease. $2166.12/$5175= 41.8% return.
For anyone who has questions about this and is in the Chicagoland area, I'll be happy to answer anything.

Congrats! It is great that you were able to do the MSD. I am shopping for a GS now too and hopefully can get them to do the MSD as well. I am really surprised they don't offer it more often. It is a great way to get the payments down, I feel like people would go for it.

Not trying to be rude but your numbers are just slightly off on your MSD savings. Its actually $60.17*35 (your first month was free regardless of payment/MSD).
Your MSD should have been your payment AFTER the new rate, rounded to the nearest $25. Thus, $525*9= $4725 (at least that how it worked for my lease).

Please help clarify a lease question (for southwest OH). I am looking at a GS350AWD 3yr 36k mile lease. What is the money factor (.0009??), the residual (64%??), acq. fee, does the 1800 lease cash and 1st mo. payment promo apply??? What about the same information for remaining 2014s on the lot?? Are the lease terms as good or better? And lastly, how much does each MSD reduce the original money factor by and is there a minimum rate that you can reduce to? Thanks so much for the information.

Yes to all of your numbers regarding the 2015 model.
We don't have any info on leasing 2014 Lexus models. I would expect the lease terms to be poor, though.
I don't have the Lexus MSD program info, unfortunately. Most makes require a minimum of .00005 or .00001 for the MF, though I'm not sure of the Lexus Finance minimum.

Yes you are right about the savings I calculated with the MSD. The finance guy was pretty clueless on how the MSD worked so it's entirely possible he calculated the MSD incorrectly and used the old monthly payment. It results in them holding on to about an extra $450.
The residual should be correct, at least from what I've saw from the other quotes and posts in this thread.
I live in Ohio and I am looking at leasing a GS350 AWD with an MSRP of $60,084. I have a few questions.
1.) Can you provide me the MF and Residuals. 24 mos/15k 27 mos/15k 36 mos/15k
2.) What is the best price I could negotiate with a dealer? (Most Reasonable Price)☺ At minimum, should I aim for 15% off the MSRP? In this case it would be $51,071.40
3.) I do not plan to put any money down. Can you tell me what costs I will have to cover once we come to terms on a deal? (Acq. Fee, Tax, Title, etc.)
4.) Can you provide a payment break down using the 15% off price?
5.) Lastly, what negotiation approach do you recommend? Go to the dealer or send an email to multiple dealers providing the numbers I’m looking for?

Up front costs would include first month's payment, bank fee, license or registration costs, and, depending on where you live, sales tax.

I'm just starting my search for a GS 350 F-Sport RWD in the Southern CA area. Got a quote from dealer and want to see if the math works out or if they're somehow sneaking in additional fees/costs?
12k/year for 36 months
MSRP: $55,105
Initial price reduction $2,647
"Selling price" $52,458
Options $359
Sub-Total $52,817
Fees $562.75
Sales Tax $4,234.08
Balance Due $57,613.83
Monthly payment $594.07
Residual 64%
Money Factor 0.00110 (I don't know why, but this is higher than the 0.0009 that is going around in this forum)

Our last few new purchases have been BMWs and the general rule of thumb for negotiating sales price is invoice plus, generally $500-$1000 based on model. What's the strategy with Lexus? I assume there are dealer incentives that go against invoice?

Do you bring up the MSD's during the negotiation of the sales price or only when you're talking to the finance dept? Also does anyone know how much MF each MSD lowers? I've read .0001 and I've also seen .00008. The MF is already .0007 so I'm curious as to what is the lowest MF it can be lowered to.
Thanks for the all the info guys.
The lowest MF allowed by Lexus after MSDs is .00001

2015 GS 350 AWD
MSRP: 55415
36/15
Cap cost: 52075.52
Taxes: 1877.00
Acq fee: 700
Gross cap cost: 54652.52
The $1800 dealer cash was used as cap cost reduction.
Residual: 65%
MF: 0.0007
Amount due at lease signing or delivery
Cap cost reduction: $1800 (dealer lease cash)
First monthly payment: $514.63 (credit 1st monthly payment promo)
Refundable security deposit: $5175
Title fees: $95
License fees: $101
Acq fee: N/A (rolled into cap cost)
Document fee: $168.43
Electronic filing fee: $25
Total: $7879.06
$1800 + $514.63= $2314.63 to be paid by dealer as above
Net amount due at signing: $5564.43
Are you sure your Residual was 65% on 36m/15k?
Residuals are 67% and 62%

Also I wanted some help regarding Taxes. When leasing a Car in South Florida do you pay the same amount in taxes as if you were buying the Car? Example if the Car sells for 50K * 6% = $3,000 in Taxes?
Please let me Know
Florida taxes the monthly lease payment.. so, if your payment is $500+tax, then the post-tax payment will be $530.
Any CAP reductions (downpayments, rebates, etc) paid upfront are taxed upfront, as well.

The residual should be correct, at least from what I've saw from the other quotes and posts in this thread.
1.) Can you provide me the MF and Residuals.
24 mos/15k
27 mos/15k
36 mos/15k
2.) What is the best price I could negotiate with a dealer? (Most Reasonable Price)☺
At minimum, should I aim for 15% off the MSRP? In this case it would be $51,071.40
3.) I do not plan to put any money down. Can you tell me what costs I will have to cover once we come to terms on a deal? (Acq. Fee, Tax, Title, etc.)
4.) Can you provide a payment break down using the 15% off price?
5.) Lastly, what negotiation approach do you recommend? Go to the dealer or send an email to multiple dealers providing the numbers I’m looking for?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
