Just got a offer after negotiations , what you guys think .

    Nj - 7 percent tax
    57k msrp 2015 gs 350 f sport awd

    36 months 10k miles
    3k down -

    415 a month

I don't have any other details yet

We need more details.  Don't put $3K "down" as a capitalized cost reduction.  If the car gets stolen or totaled during the lease, that $3K is gone.  Make sure they roll your taxes into the payment.  Get the selling price & money factor so we can assess your deal better. Oh, & find out what the dealer's "doc fee" or "processing fee" is.

I'll double check to see if the 3k went to the net cap. But that monthly payment is including taxes and eveythinG. Also forgot to mention that it's including the tire and rim protection, which I believe was 995.

    Registration 304.50
    Doc fees 389
    Taxes we're about 1180

    MF was def .00090

I don't have the net cap atm. other than that let me know if I missed anything

Whatever the selling price comes out to, deduct $389 to account for the "doc fee" since they have to charge it to everyone. Doc fees drive me nuts!

Just received an offer for a GS, Net cap cost of 49,000 (2,500 down + 2,300 lease incentive), LRF of .001, residual of 33,563.25 based on MSRP of 53,275, 9% sales tax and payment of 483.35. Doesn't jibe with any lease calculator I've seen, however, the figures were taken directly from a print out. Calculator is giving me 556.11. Any suggestions on what's up?

Using your numbers, I get a payment of $511/mo.+tax.

I would suggest that the adjusted CAP cost is not $49,000, but lower, as that's only $4275 under MSRP... Should be a substantial discount from MSRP before the money down and the rebate.

I also show the MF as .00090, rather than .00100..

Thanks. I came to a similar conclusion re: MF and CAP cost, the printout is, at the least, very misleading as it clearly states MF of .001. Nonetheless, I've used .0009 and plugged other CAP cost reductions to get to the implied discount from MSRP. Is it reasonable to ask for this information up front? Seller implied "Finance" would be glad to review all these variables once we settle on payment and terms. Sounds like typical sales approach to me.

I would want to be 100% certain of the numbers before stepping into the finance office.

Was quoted a 36/15,000 lease for $670/month for a 2015 GS 350 Fsport, awd , (MSRP of 58,465): sale price of 55,900 less $2300 rebate; MF of .0009; residual of 35,079 ( 60%) and they rolled acq fee of $700 into lease payments; doc fee of $170; plates and title ( $145); thoughts

Looks about right - what is the net cap cost factoring in the rebates and rolling in the fees?

Got quoted this on a '15 FSPORT, tell me what you guys think.

    MSRP- $57,685
    Selling Price - $50,925
    DOC fee - $80.00
    Acq Fee - $700.00
    License Fee - $442.00
    Lease Incetive -$2300.00
    CAP reduction -$2000.00 (money down)
    Net Cap Cost - $48620.32
    Residual - 60%
    Mileage -15,000/year
Money Factor - 0.00018 (MSD applied)
    Months -36

    Payment before tax - $404.13
    Payment after tax - $442.52

Do these numbers look right? I calculated a lower payment for some reason.

Also, is the Fsport worth the extra 86.00 a month? I like the styling and interior and dont really care about the suspension or wheels that much. When I go to trade it in 2 years down the line, will it be better or worse that I have an Fsport.

    Thanks

If the Residual is 60% and what is being financed is 40% or $19,440, how do you get to $404.13? If you divide $19,440 / 36 = the monthly payment without interest the monthly payment should be at least $540.00

Because the residual is applied to the MSRP, not the net cap cost. 60% of $57,685 is $34,611. Subtract that from the net cap cost of $48,620 and you get $14,009, divided by 36 is $389/mo. Add the finance charge to that ....

Please help with the following terms:
    Florida Dealer
    Msrp $56705
    Residual 54 %
    MF 0.0009
    48 / 10
Payments: $471 sales tax included ($449 + sales tax)
$3270 down, which consists of 1st payment, cap reduction of $3050, sales tax of $302, $700 acquis costs, $699 dealer fee, 1st year of $347, and cash lease deal of $2300.

Is this a good deal ? I know the MF is ok, but what about the RV ? I mostly have a problem with that down payment

    Thanks a lot !!

    I confirm the .00090 MF, 54% residual (48/10) and $2300 lease cash.

I, too, wouldn't put a cap reduction on a lease; if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

Each $1000 represents about $21/mo, or an extra $63/mo, or $510/mo+tax. Still a decent deal on a car that stickers for almost $57K.

What kind of discount are you getting from sticker?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not so sure what kind of discount I got from sticker, but I'll let you know once I hear back from the dealership.
Because of the $2300 lease cash, wouldn't I be paying just $750 ($3050-$2300) in cap cost reduction ? Or is that one doesn't have anything to do with the other, and I can still get the cash lease deal if for example, I turn the cap cost amount into MSDs?
Finally, how do you feel about a 48 month lease in these terms or any other ?
    Thanks again !

No, the total out of pocket is just over $5000, of which $2300 is covered by the incentive; the remainder is for you to pay.

My recommendation is to use the $2300 to pay the first payment and the upfront fees (bank and dealer fee), minimizing your out of pocket costs.

48 months is a long time to lease; 36 months is generally the sweet spot with regards to residual value. And, you'll be in warranty the entire time.

According to dealer, discount of $7521. Does that help ?
If i use the $2300 toward the bank fees and other fees, what do i do regarding the $3050 cap reduction amount ? Can i just ask for it to be switched to MSDs ? I'm sorry I'm new at this, and i appreciate your help!

You can tell the dealer to waive the cap reduction entirely; this will increase your payment, but you can use the money you saved to augment that new higher amount. Or, ask them about MSDs to lower the MF; the benefit there is that you get the MSD money back at the end of the lease.

Your replies have been tremendously helpful !!
Working out numbers, I should be looking at the following before I enter that war zone:
    MSRP: $56,705
    RV: 54% ($30,621)
MF: .0009, which becomes .0002 with 7 MSDs
    Terms: 48 / 10 K
Cap Cost: $52,234 (MSRP - Discount of $7521+Cap cost reduction waved of $3050)
    So...
    Depreciation: ($52,234-$30,621) / 48 = $450
    Finance: ($52,234+$30,621) x .0002 = $16
Total of $466 + Sales Taxes
    Am I correct ?
    Thanks again !!

Your lease calculations are correct, but doesn't the $7500 discount from MSRP result in a cap cost below $50K? Or are there numbers being factored into the cap cost I don't see?

Also, is there anything the cash lease will not cover from the down payment ? If I ask the dealer to wave the cap reduction amount, there is still $2040 that needs to be paid ( sales tax of $302, $700 acquis costs, $699 dealer fee, 1st year of $347 )

The $2300 will cover all of that and still leave $260 as cap cost reduction.

I did the same with the lease cash on my Hyundai - the $1100 covered all my up front costs (save first payment)

Regarding your last comment, yes, the $7500 discount from MSRP does result in a cop cost below 50 K, but I thought I had to add the $3K cap cost reduction that is being waved by the dealer. It must be paid somehow, doesn't it ? Or can it simply be waved just like that ?

I think we're getting ourselves confused.

Negotiate the best selling price without any cap cost reduction - find out from the dealer the absolute lowest price they will sell you the car for. If they are willing to give you a $7500 discount, great. If it's only $4500, that's still pretty good.

Add in any fees or taxes you don't want to pay up front - this is probably $0, as the lease cash will take care of those costs.

The result is your net cap cost used to calculate the lease payment.

Your replies have been tremendously helpful !!
Working out numbers, I should be looking at the following before I enter that war zone:
    MSRP: $56,705
    RV: 54% ($30,621)
MF: .0009, which becomes .0002 with 7 MSDs
    Terms: 48 / 10 K
Cap Cost: $52,234 (MSRP - Discount of $7521+Cap cost reduction waved of $3050)
    So...
    Depreciation: ($52,234-$30,621) / 48 = $450
    Finance: ($52,234+$30,621) x .0002 = $16
Total of $466 + Sales Taxes
    Am I correct ?
    Thanks again !!

I just came from Longo Lexus in California and got really competitive quotes for a 57k model and the 55k model. By looking at your numbers, especially for a 48/10k, it looks pretty terrible.

I was able to get $460 including 9% tax, 1200 drive off for 12k,/36 month on an msrp model or $491 include tax for 15k/36 month similar drive off. (No MSD)

For the 57k model I was able to get $493 include tax and 1200 drive off for l 12k/36 month or $518 for 15k/36 month. (No MSD)

Hello, Can some members tell me how much discount your getting off of MSRP on the GS350 not including any rebates? Thanks

How does this look...I feel there may be some arithmetic errors and potential slight padding so I'm combing over for errors:

    2015 GS350
    MSRP: $52,855
    Sale price: $48,000

    Net Cap cost rebate: $2,300
    Net Cap cost : $48,699
    3 year: 12K/year
    residual: $32,7710
    Fees: Acquisition Fee - $700
    DLR Admin charge - $649
    license Fee - $40
    Cap Tax - $300

    First payment waived.

MF: .00003 with Max multiple security deposits - $4,050

    Monthly payment: $440.91

I feel there are several dollars lost somewhere in all of this. MSD's always throw me off. What do you think?

    I get a payment about $4/mo. higher...

But, I don't know how they got to the $48,699 CAP cost? All of those line items, plus the 1st payment only add up to $2150... and, you have a $2300 rebate.... Shouldn't the CAP cost be less than the selling price?

I now see they included a nitro air at $50 and a tint that is priced around 340.00.
Should my MF be reduced to .00002? That might be were the dollars are hiding. Can't thank you enough for all your help and insight.

I'm not that familiar with the MSD program to know what the discount might be.... Either way, .00002 or .00003 is a matter of pennies per month.

So, do you have to pay any money upfront?

What are the money factor and residual for a GS 350 F Sport in California. I have not been quoted the rates that are discussed in this forum. Can a dealer adjust the money factor? It also seems that a 27 month lease is better than a 36 month lease? Also the deal at the moment from Lexus is $449 a month plus taxes with $3,999 drive off. I know you don't like the drive off that high and neither do I so is it possible to get a better deal on this or is this the bottom line?

    27/15 residual is 65%; 36/15 residual is 60%.

.00090 MF and $2300 lease cash. Dealer is allowed to mark up the MF for more profit.

You can always do better than the national lease offer with good negotiating.

If you were to write a check for $3995, you should just use it for multiple security deposits (MSDs) - you lower the money factor to almost nothing and you get the deposits back at lease end minus any excess mileage/damage charges. Some states don't allow them but CA does. You can research by googling MSDs.

Any cap costs on a lease I call a fleece. FYI I have a 2014 GS350 base model with 7500 miles per year Cost 322 with TAX. I did 3500-4000 in MSDS. Got that in December. That least 27 months with first month free. Just quoted for my wife GS350 7500 miles (It would not cost much more to get this to 10K if you need it) Quoted on a ONE pay lease at 375 Month) That is 9000.00 for two years. On a one pay you pay the entire money up front. The savings per month can be far more than what you get in the bank. In my opinion this is the best way to go depending on the car and terms.

I like 24-27 month leases on these cars to avoid new tire replacement when possible. Tires cost a fortune. I dont care about money factors or such. I only care about the bottom line here. I have been leasing for 25+ years and never got a fleece. Sign and drive or just first month and normal license fees. No cap costs ever.
