    They cut you a check back for your remaining payments? What cars qualify for competing lease payoff? Wonder if my Optima qualifies?

    I hope not .. rather, I hope this is for trade equity.

    If you are still on the hook for the remaining payments, there still could be end-of-lease charges that you would be responsible for.

    Disposition Fee. I know my Kia is $495. His $2500 is probably the equity(car is worth more than lease payoff). In my case, I'm in the neg...payoff is $23k and trade in value is $18K :(

    I'm in the same boat. My payoff is around $12-13K and my trade value is around $9K

    Latest offer from dealer, this is crazy...
    Found a deal for 2016 Maxima SL with floor mats, trunk net, trunk mat, and splash guards...I currently have 10 months left on current lease of 2014 non Nissan car (payoff $3500).

    MSRP 38,125
    Discounted Sale Price 30,874 (19% off MSRP)
    Dealer to write me check for $3600 to payoff current lease. $1,650 Nissan cash and $2,500 from dealer = $4,150 cap reduction...Transfer of plates.
    36 months / 12,000 miles per year

    $500 down plus 1st month $415.27 = $915.27
    (1 yr of oil changes)

    $415.27 per month (including tax)

    I know I should wait to pay more down on current lease but this is prob very tough to beat...pull the trigger???

    They are not taking your current car in trade?

    If not, there is still risk attached with what the dealer is proposing. You are still responsible for any end of lease charges.

    Michael, i know there could be an extra mileage charge (currently well under miles), charge for excess damage (car is in good shape), disposition or early lease termination fee...I figured they would be buying car out from leasing company and then trying to sell themselves. How can I offer leased vehicle as trade when I dont own? If so should I be getting better offer from dealer?

    The dealer can buy the car from the bank that owns the lease. It's no different than a car with a conventional loan attached to it.

    You still have to pay $915 to get into the car. If it was me, I would shoot for $0. Worth a shot. Try another dealer?

    That's what I'm thinking - dealer is going to make money on me (Nissan incentives to him, etc) I can try for 0 down. Starting to lean more on waiting. grrrr..

    What is the net cap cost? As is, I get $266/mo plus tax using your numbers.

    It's all dependent on the adjusted cap cost -- selling price + taxes & fees - down payment/rebate/trade equity

    I don't "rate" deals, just provide the tools and info for folks to make more informed decisions.

    $415 a month is not terrible, considering they're tacking on $3600 for your remaining lease payments. Try $400/mo sign n drive? Just my.02.

    I did, said $400 with $0 down and was told they can't do that. So I will wait. Appologies to all for taking over the forum here.

    How about the $415 with 0 down? Who knows maybe the dealer will call you and counter? Try some other dealers. There's a few guys on the maxima forum from north Jersey, try those dealers.

    End of the month, we will see. Dealers love moving inventory if they can and it help them with quotas and incentives etc.

    I haven't even started my quest yet. I was thinking maybe in April after I make that lease payment. I will then have 3 remaining ($1275). Maybe Nissan will bump the lease cash to $2000?

    Find a dealer desperate to make a last minute deal for them to hit a volume bonus. Anything is possible.

    Be advised, today is the last day for the March numbers from Nissan. New numbers tomorrow, but it's likely we won't see them until next week sometime.

    They'll be the ones constantly in touch with you trying to close a deal.

    Reach out to all the Nissan dealers within 50-100-150 miles (or however far you're willing to travel to get the car) and see what happens.

    Not good, dealer discounted the car only to 36 k and then added back in my current lease - not the 30,894 as originally thought. That is as low as he can go...Called a few other dealers and they are even $80 higher than him so far. Giving up.

    Sounds like they were giving you invoice price or close to. But then what about the rebates, where did they come into play? As far as the other dealers, I think it's going to be tough over the phone. They don't take you as serious as if you were sitting in the showroom. My Guess.

    Sorry to hear that .. I suspect it will be easier to make a deal the closer you get to the end of your current lease.

    yes agreed, over the phone they don't take you seriously, but when they have you sitting at the desk and the back-and-forth happens - they know you mean business. Just not worth my time to do the song and dance, I rather have it all pre negotiated and go sign and get car. I've done the research, the test drive, etc. Now just don't play games.

    Don't know about the cash back, but those are the numbers for all 2016 Maxima trims
