Thinking of a break from BMW land. Are Subaru MF/Residual region specific?
Thinking of a 15K/year lease for the Outback limited in the SF Bay Area.

Subaru numbers are national, if the dealer is using SMF.

The 6 New England states are covered by a distributor, and they may have different programs.

Hi, wondering when you may have the January #'s for the Outback Limited 24/15 and 36/15. Was trying to get a deal done by today but there aren't very many of the cars out there.

24 month rates aren't supported.

All Limited models have the same program, so it won't matter.

am trying to find out what how to calculate the lease. I ordered my Subaru because there aren`t any and the quote on the lease I got is $376 a month for 12000/36 months. The dealership said that once the car arrives the lease might change based on the current rates etc which I was surprised. So I am trying to find out how to do it myself so they will not cheat or take advantage of me and also so I could get the best possible deal.

The price of the vehicle is 34,322. That is the final selling price to me. Now there are residual values, money factor etc.

So in order to calculate my lease I need to request the money factor from the dealer as well as residual value? Just these two items correct?

What did you come up to if you would have calculated it?

What is strange to me is that the more money I put down with this price the more monthly payment comes to.

Premium: .00100 MF and 63% residual

Agreed. You'd have to ask the dealer to see their numbers, and compare them to the ones you calculated using the link we shared with you.

Both, if they will allow it.

Lease calculations are not rocket science ... just 5th grade math, mostly. The trick is getting the numbers to plug into them.

Yes you are right the lease calculations are easy but having the right numbers. I should ask the dealer for the following: Residual value and money factor?

And the MSRP (window sticker amount) and the net cap cost (selling price + taxes and fees)

Base: .00170 MF and 65% residual
Premium: .00100 MF and 63% residual

To Subarufan8, I am using an iphone app called Leasematic, best $.99 cents spent. Really helpful to compare deals at home and verify all numbers before you sign the lease...it is pretty easy and precise.

Michael. The dealer told me that he has to wait for the manufacturer to send him invoice. So I asked him how could you give me the lease quote before, you said it was set price. So lets see what he writes back.

Keep pushing - politely but firmly - for this information. They may be reluctant to give it to you, as it would expose any shady aspects of the deal. If so, find another Subaru dealer. It only takes one to make a deal on your terms.

Do you have the MF and residual for a 36month, 10k miles/year lease for a:

Outback 3.6R with eyesight?
and
Outback Limited 2.5 with eyesight?

I got a MF of 0.00155 from a subaru dealer and it seems marked up from what I was seeing in this forum.

63% and .00105 for both. Dealer can mark up MF by .00050 for extra profit. 

Do the math.

Michael so I got the money factor is .00105 and 62% residual from the dealer. As soon as I have the invoice and MSRP from him even though I know what it is since its only math but whatever I wait for them, I let you know.

I am looking at the 62% that is pretty low for subaru, what do you think? And how can I tell they did not mark up .00050 for extra profit?

You plug the numbers into your lease calculator and if the payment is different than the one the dealer is giving you, you figure out where the numbers are different.

Only two variables in a lease - the net cap cost and the money factor.

Hi @Michaell . So I got the numbers from the dealer. They are way off from what I was quoted. When I ask them they told me that The rates and residuals change every month on the lease. So I asked for detailed calculations. I am not sure how to do this now?

Post the information from the dealer here. Yes, the numbers change each month, but the dealer cannot modify the residual value.

If they aren't transparent, it may be time to find another dealer.

Payment amount is $391.16. Drive off amount $1615.20.

I get the same payment, to the penny. Only way to improve on it is to negotiate a lower selling price.

Hmm really. Because before I ordered the finance manager gave me 376 lease offer. But now they tell me it changes. I am looking into it. If not I will have to get a different car then. Thank you very much. I will keep you posted.

Michael. I just thought of something. Isn't it better to take a car loan for 34000 and buy the car then sell it for 28000 in two years which the car will be work. Technically I will only pay 6000 for the car for two years and its mine. What is your opinion on this? Thank you. Anyone have some ideas?

If you think you can sell it for that price after two years, I don't see a downside. But, that's a big if.

There will be new subaru numbers tomorrow February 2. I am waiting for the finance rate to see what will be better. The dealer said it might decrease.
