Hi Michael,
I'm looking to lease at 2.5i Limited with Nav+Eyesight in CT.
Would you happen to have the MF and Residual for 12k/36 and 15k/36?
Thanks again for all your help
Hi Michael. SO I am looking at this and wanted to ask you. The higher the residual % the better? I checked with Subaru and they told me that NY and New England area have higher prices because of emission requirements and etc. Thank you so much for all your help. This is really a place to go.

The six New England states are controlled by a distributorship. They might have higher price points. NY is not in the group, though.
I'm considering a 2016 2.5i Subaru Outback Premium lease for 36 months and 10K mileage allowance per year.
This will be without any add-ons or optional equipment installed, just the "basic" options offered with the Premium model.
I will not be putting any money down for this lease and this will be in the state of New Jersey.
The dealer quoted me the below information so far. Is this accurate for New Jersey?
Lease Money Factor - 0.00100 Residual - 61%
Also, in my visit to the dealer while test driving and talking about some numbers briefly, they quoted me $395/month based on the information I provided above, but I didn't go into details at that time since I wanted to ensure which model I wanted first before going further.
I believe $395/month definitely sounds high based on the description above, am I correct in my assumption?
I have emailed the dealer salesperson and asked for more details on how the $395 was calculated and then go from there in negotiating.
Any feedback you can provide would be appreciated!

.00100 is the base MF, but 61% is the 36/15 residual. The 36/10 residual is 64%.
Without the MSRP and selling price/CAP cost, no idea if $395/mo. is reasonable, or not.

Thanks for your reply. Here are the details that the dealer quoted for the lease offer:
- Does this seem like a good lease offer at $278.14/mo based on the information above? - Do you see anything I can potentially negotiate on more, such as eliminating or reducing any fees? - Does the sales tax appear correct for the state of New Jersey? - Do the numbers all add up with the residuals/money factor and the monthly price? - What is your opinion of the MSRP and agreed upon price for the lease that the proposed? Sound competitive?
My thoughts are that it does seem competitive and aggressive, but I think I might be able to at least negotiate on a few items, since I haven't countered and I just asked them to provide me their best offer since what I was looking for an offer that I "could not refuse", since I have a good running car already, but it's 15 years old and I told them I'd just like something new at this point.
Your help will be greatly appreciated since I'd like to make a decision on this quickly.
Thanks so much for your help! This forum is awesome.

My calculations are within a penny of the dealers, so no surprises there.
You may be able to negotiate a better selling price; we don't track those, so don't know how much lower you could go. Use the "make / model / year" pull downs at the top of the page to link to the price tools.
One fee I do not see is the acquisition or bank fee .. this if $595 and is charged by Subaru Motors Finance for every lease. All the other fees are reasonable and expected for NJ. Can be paid up front with everything else or added to the selling price.
I'm going to lease a 2016 Outback 3.6R Limited this month (March). This will have the moonroof, nav, eyesight package. Can you tell me what the money factor and residual should be for a 36 month, 12k mile per year lease in Colorado? Thank you!
I just got quoted a MF = .00170 and residual of 63% for a 36/12 on a 2016 2.5 Limited with eyesight in South Carolina. Can someone confirm if that is the correct MF and not marked up? Thanks
Note: regarding my post above, I'm getting lease quotes at 63% residual (actually went up for March) and a .00120 MF. Hopefully I can work that MF down.

Base MF looks to be .00120 in March, so it is marked up the maximum allowed.

If you have top tier credit, that is the lowest the MF can be. Subaru doesn't have MSD.
Wow, wasn't the MF .00105 for February? Seems that is a fair increase in the MF in one month.
Subaru is having no problem selling or leasing every Outback they build. Marketing must have felt that an increase in the MF could be built in without affecting sales volumes.
What is the MF/Residual for a 2016 Outback Premium 2.5i lease 36 months/10K miles per year in New Jersey. I'm wondering if there is a change for March. Thank you so much!

Looking to lease a 2016 Outback 2.5 Limited with moonroof/eyesight package, 12k for 36 months. New to leasing and negotiated a price of 32,853 (35037 MSRP), down payment of 2100 (includes MN Tax $1355, Gov't fees 443.75) and monthly payments of $349. The Residual value was said to be $22,423. The MF is .00170 and Residual % .64 is this decent? Does this all work out correctly? Would you lease this car at these figures? Thanks!

The 36/12 numbers for the 2.5i Limited are .00120 and 63%, so the dealer is marking up the MF and the residual is for a 10K lease.
So, no, I would not lease a car with those numbers. Politely but firmly tell them you won't sign a deal with an inflated MF.
Your prices and MF give me a payment of $384/mo - not sure how the dealer gets to $349.
Michaell, From San Diego, CA: Got a quote for 2016 Prem with EyeSight package for Sale price of $28,805 at a local dealer (before TTL). Also offered a White premium with ivory interior with NAV/MRF/RPG for the same amount. The breakdown: $351.14/mo for 36months + $1000 upfront down that included dealer and reg fees. + Residual of $20,163 At 770+ on credit score.
They never obliged my request for MF and pressured us into leasing it right away even after the dealership closed to meet some weekly numbers.
I can't get the math right, the numbers seem off. Please advise.

Assuming your deal above is for 10K/yr, and the selling price is the CAP cost, I get $307/mo.+tax.
If $1000 is the total amount due at signing, that's probably not enough to cover 1st payment and all fees, though.. Your CAP cost might be a little higher than the sale price.

@Michaell I am unable to replicate the numbers of 307+tax. I created an excel sheet using formulas from leaseguide.com but they seem to be a little off. Any advice who best to do this?

Tire tax: 7.5
Title: 60
Subtotal: 32,882
Residual: 10k = 19,876 Residual 12k = 19,561
Prices out to 10k/yr = 441/mth and 12k/yr = 449/mth with 0 upfront. (3 yr lease)
This seemed high to me but not sure where i am paying the extra. Is it in the interest rate? Thank you for your advice.
With your prices, I get $425/mo for 12K or $417/mo for 10K.
Not much discount from sticker is hurting, as is the somewhat high MF.
The tax amount also seems high - NJ taxes the sum of the payment only; this looks like tax against the entire selling price.

Thanks for your reply. Here are the details that the dealer quoted for the lease offer:
2016 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium (no add-ons)
1. MSRP - $26,750
2. Agreed upon price for lease - $25,000
3. Acquisition Fee - $595
4. Gross Cap Cost - $25,595
5. Residual 64% - $17,120
6. Mileage - 10,000/year
7. Term - 36 months
8. Money Factor - 0.00100
9. Base Monthly Payment - $278.14
10. Sales Tax - $700.91
11. Document Fee - $349
12. Registration - $300
13. Tire Tax - 7.50
14. Cash Required upfront - Items 9 through 13 equals $1,635.55
A few questions:
- Does this seem like a good lease offer at $278.14/mo based on the information above?
- Do you see anything I can potentially negotiate on more, such as eliminating or reducing any fees?
- Does the sales tax appear correct for the state of New Jersey?
- Do the numbers all add up with the residuals/money factor and the monthly price?
- What is your opinion of the MSRP and agreed upon price for the lease that the proposed? Sound competitive?

I want to determine a fair lease cost on a 3-year, closed end lease with either 12K or 15K mileage/year.
What additional information is needed to determine a lease cost?
Thanks,
Rob
The current lease numbers for 36/15 are 61% and .00120. Add 2% for 12K.
Using your MSRP and quoted prices, I get a payment of $416/mo before tax.
I would get the dealer to give you a breakdown of how the $2000 will be used - there is the first payment, acquisition fee, dealer fee, DMV costs.
We do not recommend making a "down payment" on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

Sound right or am I getting squeezed a little?
