Torn between two cars - wondering what the best price (in Georgia) one could get on the Honda Accord with Navi is, or would I be looking at MSRP. This would be cash, no financing.
Big are discounts available on all Accords. You'll probably be able to get c. $4000 off of the list price if you email 3-4 dealers. Read the last few pages of this thread for tips.
"brian125" is our Yoda around here. Follow his advice and you'll do well. I did!
No doubt Brian is our Jedi master with amazing tricks , still trying to haggle a couple of dealers , the options are getting slimmer as 2017's start coming in

Exactly. If you are looking for a specific option package (Honda Sensing, for example), and/or a particular color, don't wait as inventory is dwindling.
I just bought the Honda Accord Touring in NC OTD : $32000 (which Includes TTL & Destination fees). In Addition: Dealership included : Free Low Jack Installation, Trunk Tray, Wheel lock =, Mud Guard, Nitrogen Gas in the Wheel and 1 year Paint protection guarantee with .90 % APR for 5 yrs.
Also one more thing please dont fall for extended warranty program as your insurance companies offers you low cost extended warranty program. Geico charged me $9/ month on my new vehicle for the vehicle protect program fr 7 yrs/100000 miles bumper to bumper coverage.
Hi, thanks for all the useful info. I found the response to the '16 and '17 model year question useful as well. I would like to buy my dad a safe and reliable car. I'm in the NYC area and was searching for a price to email dealerships for a base '16 ex w/sensing. I think 23,000 + Taxes, reg, title, and plates is indicated as a good price. Is that price about right? I've got the money saved, not sure if stating that in the dealer emails is of any benefit.

Stating that to dealers wont help you in the negotiations . Whether you pay cash or hand them a check dealer is paid in full. Telling all dealerships for X price I buy today gives you more leverage in pricing. What I will suggest telling each dealer is If financing a part of this sale thru your dealership gets me X price I will do that. You could always pay off loan on first payment to house. Honda loans are 1.9% very low
As far as you getting 23k for the Accord EX / sensing is a very aggressive price here in NYC.
@tonyg2016 may be correct saying its a very low offer in this area. Nobody has gotten close to 2500 below invoice yet on any model here to date.
In NY / NJ If you buy at the end of this month and can negotiate a price for 23,888 or lower makes for a very good deal in this area. That price of 23,888 puts you @2k below dealers invoice .
Send out emails and make calls to area dealerships with a lower target price to start . I'd shoot for $23,500 but remember that's still $2500 below invoice and might be very hard to get in NY/ NJ. So if that number is to low negotiate up a few hundred to you feel its a good price.

I tried to get your deal. Instead, I went OTD on a 2016 Accord Touring for $33532. Dealer threw in the pro pack, window tint, nitrogen, and paint/interior protection. This Houston Honda dealer actually charges $299 for nitrogen in the tires. Really??! If you're a Costco customer, they'll charge you $11.99/tire to refill w/ nitrogen. Texas taxes are 6.25% on cars (everything else is 8.25%). Also took the 5 year 0.9% financing.
ETA: The price I negotiated down to was $30,934 before TTL and fees.
Yes reach out to these dealers in addition to yours. Friendly's, New Rochelle, Yonkers, Atlantic, Huntington maybe Bay Ridge Honda, Hillside Honda in Queens you may have to go there for a price. Your target price should be close to 2k below invoice at this time in NY.
Sport Invoice w dest / charge = 23,771 then minus 2000 = $21,771 then add doc fee 75, taxes 8.875% or ( $1932 ) $10 tire fee and plates and reg ($250 ) for the OTD price.
Great forum guys, thanks for all the info! I just moved back to the US after 6 years overseas, so basically starting over in terms of house, cars, etc.... This forum has been very helpful.
I walked into the Honda dealer today (Chicago) to look at the accords and there was a Demo EX-L on the showroom floor. The MSRP is 29,500k. The Demo has 5500 miles on it. The manager said they would put an aggressive discount and sale it for 24,900. This sounded good to me at the time, but now that I read through this thread, I can see that it's not such a great discount for a demo with 5500 miles on it Can anyone advise what would be a good final number on this deal? I wanted to go back tomorrow to test drive it.
Real aggressive lol @2159 below dealers invoice . You could buy a new 2016 model same price without all the test drives and finger prints all over that one. A demo is considered a new car and not used yet . Me personally any vehicle with 5500 miles is USED. I would want 3k to 3500 off this models invoice price to consider it. Plus 5 free oil changes, splash guards, and trunk mat.

EXL invoice price w destination = $27,059
Brian, you're the man! I appreciate the quick response. I like the car. From what you are saying 23,500 is a fair price in this situation? I was thinking of offering 22k... too aggressive?

Why not just get a new 2016 one at close to that price without the miles? Or are they all out?
The problem here is your buying a Honda and not a Kia or Hyundai. The dealer has a bottom line price to sell which might only be 2500 to 2800 below its invoice this month ( there might not be a urgency to sell yet ) . With that said this is your hard earned money you want to get the best deal understood, but 22k is a very low offer that wont be excepted.
I echo @benjaminh prior post above. Also Reach out to other dealers by email / calls
BTW................... Buying @23,500 is a excellent deal if you could get it . ( not fair ) That puts you a @3559 below dealers invoice price on a 2016 model. I could overlook the fingerprints and miles for that kind of savings in July
Honda Accord resale and depreciation values are excellent.
Make a starting offer for 23k on the demo. If dealer needs ending sales numbers they might let it go otherwise decide on 3k to 3500 below invoice as your sticking point to buy. Don't forget dealers doc fee charge of $200 plus takes away from your offer. Find out before your offer?
Thanks you all for the great advice. I will let you know how it goes. From what I can gather, there are plenty of brand new ones around town, so I can stick to my guns (23.500) on the demo, or move on to a new one.
No luck getting a deal at the end of the month for me today. Had work so I couldn't put the effort in to it that I wanted to but contacted five dealers and got completely shut down or ignored by every single one of them. Only got one counter offer back and it was about $1,500 higher than my bid. Was aiming for an EX CVT sedan at $3,000 below invoice. Pretty bummed as my massive search for a used car off craigslist over the last 7+ months has been a complete waste of time.
Guess I'll try again at the end of August but the selection has got to be getting really thin. Meant to do this at the end of June but had issues procuring a decent loan up until just recently.

Why not take the 0.9% Honda financing for 5 years?
I think if you want 3k off of invoice you'd be more likely to get that on a Hyundai Sonata.
Anyone have an idea on a good below-invoice discount for 2017 Accords? In my area (Kansas City) all the 2016s I'm interested in (Sedan, Sport, Manual trans) are gone, but there are some 2017s. Is it feasible to offer $2500 below invoice on a 2017?
Send out emails to all dealers with 2017 models you like . Ask dealers if they will sell at 1500 below invoice for a sale today. Do this when your ready to buy Otherwise the emails wont be effective or taken serious. If I was a betting man I'd say in some area's a 2017 model will sell for invoice price to 500 below invoice. The rest around invoice price.
2500 below invoice on 17 models is not happening yet.

I had a terrible experience at McDavid Honda Irving while buying my Honda 2017 EX. They tried to cheat me . I was given edmunds price promise but they denied to honor it saying that I have to pay choose the dealer specified financing and not my own source of finance. The reason they mentioned was the pricing was too aggressive . I left the place with an unwanted credit inquiry after some drama which they orchestrated very well.

Is this selling price increase for 2017 cars due to the maker or dealer ? Who is trying to cash in the demand for new cars ? I hope its not the dealers ?
I'm interested in purchasing a 2016 Sport special edition or EX-L. Zip is 76065. Can anyone help me out with pricing? Trying to figure out what a good deal is. Thanks in advance!
For @brian125's benefit, that's a Texas zip not too far north of Dallas.
Texas Honda dealers aren't that aggressive. This time of year, with the summer doldrums and new models being talked about, some parts of the US are enjoying deals of ~$2,000 below invoice. But $1,000 may be the best you can do in Texas. I car shop some in El Paso and it's not very good there either.
@satya_g, hard to say what's going on with the price increase. One factor is the yen - Japanese automakers' profits are getting hammered by the strong yen and they may be trying to bolster the bottom line with the US price increase(s).

Good deal in your area $1600 to 2k below dealers invoice on all models. A better price may be achieved by following my end of the month buying tips

Honda dealers will not sell 2017 accords at pricing you see on 16 models. If you want a 2017 model now you may pay invoice price or above . Send out emails to 10 dealers asking for there best price on your 2017 model Accord. Post back with your pricing I will help you.
The 2016 model is where the best deals lie. I have no pricing info yet on 17 Accord models . My best guess is a $300 to 400 increase across the board. Supply and demand with all dealers determines pricing thru out each year.

Wanted to update you guys. I wasn't able to get back to the dealer this week, and the demo sold. I am heading there today to test drive and see what other EXL Accords they have in stock. I'm in the Chicago area. If I find one I like, I will shoot for 2500 below invoice on a 2016, and 500 below for 2017 (based on what I can gather from this site).
You can click on the Make | Model dropdown tabs at the top of the page and drill down to your make and model. After you enter the style/trim, you'll land on a page with invoice, MSRP and TMV. Here's a shortcut.

Aren't computers fun? Dupes deleted.
I was having issues this morning but it's getting better. If you do the Make | Model dropdown and then click on Build and Price you'll get 2017 Accord invoice numbers (one page was showing zero, but keep clicking through to the Next Step and they'll show up).

Hi Brian, I been following this thread for awhile. I put in an chat offer of $21k for 2016 Honda Accord Sport/with Sensing said I was going to buy today. He just said great and and when will I come in. I was skeptical if I can go lower! or if he'll add more on top of $21k tricks. But how is $21k sound? This is in Maryland.
$21k was offer no TTL, destination included. I was thinking $23771 invoice for honda sport 2016 with sensing -$3000 offer +$299 doc fee $22070 subtotal +$1306 (6% tax) $23376 (without reg/plates)

Not entirely true. I was able to get my car about $1900 below invoice here in Houston. All it takes is a strong backbone. Be willing to walk out of the dealer if you don't get your deal.
