Currently getting the following deal for a VW Passat 2016 1.8TS Cleveland, OH
Cap Cost: $19,770 Term: 36 Month Miles: 12K Miles Money Factor: 0.00001 Residual: $11,840
To Be paid upfront below: Doc Fee: $250 Title: $33 First Month Payment: $259 Tax: 8% Cuyahoga County Tax
Getting a monthly rate of $259
This is my first time dealing with all of this on my own and still learning a lot. Can you please let me know if this seems like a decent deal ?
I get $221/mo plus tax with those numbers (50% residual and .00001 MF, MSRP of $23,680).
I would confirm the cap cost - where is the bank fee in all of this?
Bank Fee is $625 Invoice: $22,920 Cap Cost: $19,770 same as told by the dealer.
This is $0 Down. All other numbers are the same including MSRP
Something isn't adding up. Using the MSRP of $23,680 and the net cap cost of $19,770, I get $238/mo with 8% tax added in. There is about $750 missing somewhere.
Looking at 2016 Passat R-Line. MSRP is 25,111 and lease price is $20,423. Dealer says I can't get the .00001 MF with this discount; is that true? They are using .00185.
I'm turning in a lease with 5 months left at $1,700 to be added to the cap cost.. They want $1,000 down for a payment of $298+ tax. Any way to get them to eat some of the payments?

Also, can I get the residual value for 48 months?
Thank you.
Base MF on the Passat is .00001 for up to 36 months. I wouldn't sign any deal where the MF is marked up.
For 48 months, the numbers are .00050 and 40% for 48/15.
Why get out of your lease early? That alone is adding almost $50/mo to your 36 month payment or $35/mo if you stretch the new lease out to 48 months.

Might be time to reach out to another VW dealer.
Thanks for the information. Excellent point on the cost of my remaining payments.
Am I doing the math correctly? .0005 is 1.2%? What does .00001 translate into?

looking to negotiate best price on a 2016 Passat SE and then get the best lease deal. Can you tell me the MF, Risidual, lease cash and any other info that will help me out? Thanks in advance
I found a 2016 Passat SE with MSRP at $27,520. I'm elegible under a partner program through work and the partner program website states You get $500 off the Dealer Invoice price. This offer is combinable with current incentive offers. How do I figure out what the dealer invoice price is? Would it be better to get dealers to compete outside using this partner program to get a lower price then $500 off dealer invoice plus incentive? Thanks again

Use the "make / model / year" pull downs at the top of the page to link to the price tools. Invoice is listed there.
is the lease cash inclusive of there current promotion of $1,000* Volkswagen Reward Card on new 2015 and 2016 Jetta models? In other words is the $2000 lease cash the total rebate being offered by mfr currently or do I add in another 1k for the reward card? thx
Sorry cut and pasted the wrong offer. The passat offer is for $1,250

The only incentive we're aware of is the $2000 lease cash. Use the "car research" tab to link to the consumer incentives. They should be stackable.
ok so is my strategy right? use affiliate program to get price at $500 below dealers invoice. subtract 2000 lease cash and subtract $1250 for the rewards card bonus (can this be taken off the cost or do I have to settle for the prepaid visa in the mail). So my target price should be for the following vehicle.

1) Don't convert the money factor to an APR. It only serves to confuse the situation. 2) The money factor is applied to the sum of the CAP cost + residual, not the difference. 3) Pretty sure you have to wait for the cash card. Don't think you can use it as a CAP cost reduction. 4) You don't say what state you are in, but most states just tax the monthly payment, so your calculations for that are off, as well. 5) Where is your acquisition fee? ($625 for VW Credit)

Hi Kyfdx. I think you're right on the cash card so I'll add that back into my cap cost. You're absolutely right on the finance fee calculation. I didn't realize I have to apply it as follows Finance Fee = ( Net Cap Cost + Residual ) × Money Factor. MSRP: 27,520. I added in acquisition fee and some other "normal" dealer fees. If I factor in the $1250 reward card and take $34.72 a month off my final payment, I'm looking at $310.51 a month. I want to get my payments below $280 a month so I'll need to negotiate an additional $1080 off the final price. What do you guys think? Do you guys see an additional room of $1080 or so taken off the negotiated price? Do my numbers look right now?

Can't really say on price. But, you have a $500 below invoice deal, minus $2000 of lease cash. Not sure you'll find another $1000 in reduction.
I came across a dealer site which states the following: 2016 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T SE "$27,520 MSRP $3,621 Savings (with VW Reward Card Bonus and Financing) $23,899 Best Price" When they say and financing is that suppose to be the lease cash? I guess this is a question for the dealer but just trying to figure out how they justify their asking price.

Often, there are separate incentives for leasing versus buying. So, there may be an incentive included in that price, in addition to the dealer discount. but you would have to get the details from the dealer.

Got it. Hey the numbers you provide, these come from vw finance? Is this the best pricing they have available for top tier credit? Can you also provide the numbers for 2016 Passat SE 10/36 in MN. thanks

Just want to confirm that the 49% depreciation is based of MSRP and not the gross capitalized cost (agreed upon value of the vehicle). Is this right? Can someone provide me with a sample for what a VW lease agreement should look like. Thanks in advance

Yes. Residual percentage is always applied to the MSRP (bottom line of the government sticker).

Is the 2000 dealer cash applicable towards a finance offer as well?

I'm turning in a lease with 5 months left at $1,700 to be added to the cap cost.. They want $1,000 down for a payment of $298+ tax. Any way to get them to eat some of the payments?
Also, can I get the residual value for 48 months?
Thank you.
For 48 months, the numbers are .00050 and 40% for 48/15.
Why get out of your lease early? That alone is adding almost $50/mo to your 36 month payment or $35/mo if you stretch the new lease out to 48 months.
Might be time to reach out to another VW dealer.
