2016 VW Passat Lease Questions

Hi!
I am considering leasing either a 2016 Passat SE or SE w/technology. Could you please give me the August 2016 MF and Residual values for both vehicles at 36months and 12k miles. Also, I didn't see any August incentives listed on Edmunds, but the VW website seems to be advertising incentives. Are you able to check for me what is available?

KYFDX, So the residual value is the same for the SE whether I select tech pacakge or not? Also, Am I eligible for the $1,000 event bonus if I am leasing, as well as the $2500 lease cash? Just want to try and figure out what I am entitled to as I am not seeing this info under the incentives and rebate section. Thank you!

Individual packages and options do not change the numbers.

Yes, the $1000 is in addition to the $2500 lease cash.

.00015 MF and 51%/44% residual. $2500 lease cash.

If you are in TX, check with the dealer about tax credits. You might have to buy a wear and tear contract to get them. But, if available, that could save a lot of money.

Before starting the negotiation process with the dealers, would you mind confirming if my numbers seem accurate. I am looking to lease a 2016 Passat SE with Technology for 36 months/12k miles. With an MSRP at $29,230 with a 46% Residual Value and a MF of .00015 and 6% tax (FL) rate - True Car is saying for my location (South Florida) I should be able to get the car for an estimated rate of $20,365 which takes into consideration all the current incentives ( this seems crazy low!). Would it be accurate for me to attempt to get a lease payment of $210 per month? I appreciate your advice and help!

Also, I forgot to add.... All the dealers are now adding a $699 Dealer Fee and a $600 Bank Fee to the inception costs. Are these bogus fees? I know the DMV, TAX, TAg, Title stuff is legit, but would love your thoughts on the Dealer and Bank Fee's. Thank you!

I doubt you'll be able to get that price once you tell the dealer you're leasing. The MF and RV are both correct.

Sadly, the $699 is typical for Florida dealers. Simply try to negotiate a price to mitigate it.

Once you have the adjusted cap cost, we can calculate the payment.

The bank fee is imposed by VW Credit and cannot be waived.

1. Do you think I would have a better chance at getting that $20,350 price?

2. I have never financed through VW Credit but I see they are running a 0% APR special. From what I am reading, is it correct that they would still allow me to use the 0% APR, along with the current incentives if I am reading correctly? My credit is good.

3. Are there hidden fees I would need to be aware of if I financed? Like Bank fees from VW, similar to Leasing? I never financed a car before so not sure what to look out for.

1. Probability is higher to get that price if you buy
2. Most of the time, you have to choose between the low interest rate or the rebate. Don't know if that's the case with VW, this month
3. No hidden fees if you finance

I just got an alert that VW is now offering a $500 Labor Day Bonus incentive. Is that eligible for leases as well? If so, would it be correct that if I lease, I would be able to get $2,500 Lease Bonus+ $1,000 Model Year Event + $500 Labor Day = $4,000 in bonus incentives?

Yes, that seems to be correct. I'm thinking of leasing a Jetta and the extra $500 is applicable to that model, as well.

I really like passat SE with technology. The local dealer is quoting me 235 dollars per month including tax with 2500 drive off (including dmv cost, 1st payment etc.) for 12k miles per year for 36 month. To me this seems wonderful, so just wondering what people with knowledge and know-how of leasing think. That is why, I am posting it here. Please let me know your thoughts about it. I really appreciate that. By the way, I live in SF so taxes are not so great.

On the surface, that looks like a good payment, with the 8-9% tax you have.

But, we'd need to know a little bit more about the deal to make sure you're getting the best possible payment.

Do you know the MSRP (bottom line price on the window sticker)?

Do you know the adjusted cap cost (this is the selling price plus any fees you aren't paying up front, less any money you are putting down)?

Do you know the exact breakdown of what the $2500 at signing covers?

There are places where the dealer can 'pad' the numbers for a bit of extra profit, so it helps to know as much as possible to not allow that to happen.

The relevant lease numbers are .00015 MF and 46% residual.

I know some manufacturers offer a tax rebate in Texas, but those are mostly luxury brands. Nothing for VW, I'm afraid.

VW is running a tax credit special in Texas right now, but it requires buying LEWP. (lease end wear/tear package).

You should come out ahead that way, break even at worst (and, you get the LEWP coverage).

Pretty new to this and trying to learn. Looking for 0 down and sub 200 monthly payment, am I way off base? Would Passat S be better for that type of deal? Dealer is advertising about $4500 in incentives, How much of a discount off MSRP do you think is actually negotiable if they're offering that much in incentives?

Not sure you can get < $200/mo on a Passat SE. I just leased a Jetta SE last weekend, and my base payment was $209/mo with tax (8%).

Edmunds's current TMV on the Passat S is approximately $21,500. Does that imply that I should be attempting to negotiating toward that figure as the adjusted cap cost prior to applying the $3750 lease cash? If so, and if my math is correct, that would result in a final cap cost of about $17,750 (plus TTL and acquisition) which seems awfully inexpensive for a new mid-size sedan in 2016.

Not necessarily. The TMV price may include incentives that aren't applicable to a lease.

However, when I leased my Jetta a couple weeks ago, McDonald VW on Broadway used their web-based price as their cap cost for a lease, as well - it already included all the incentives.

Finally got the R-Line in FL. 0 down, 36mo/12k, MSRP $25,155 for $236 pre-tax.
