Sounds like they took a Fiat 500 hatch, extracted all the fun out of it, stretched it two feet and made it slower, clumsier and less attractive. Good work!
Spotted a black Hyundai Equus making a left turn onto Rising Sun Avenue from St. Vincent in NE Philly at lunchtime.
BMW 4er, white Fisker Karma, new E wagon, 2014 Corvette (latter was driving near dealer, had no plates)
There are plenty of nice old cars to be seen during the Scottsdale auction weeks but the massive Barret-Jackson event also showcases new iron from manufacturers and tuners.
I finally got a look at the new Corvette Stingray (C7), present in stock (Z51) as well as tuner form. I liked it after being unsure if I would based on photos. The design holds together nicely and the controversial rear looks far better in person than in photos. The new detailing tones down the "big butt" look of earlier 'Vettes IMHO. That said, I'm afraid the Corvette still comes across to me as just too big for a sports car, it was noticeably longer and wider that a Ferrari 458 parked nearby.
Ford showed a number of cars and trucks, most interesting to me was the 2015 Mustang in various forms, including the convertible. The convertible is a dandy looking thing with more of a real Mustang aura since it does not have the rather generic looking rear side window seen on the fast back coupe. My feeling that Ford should have kept the previous rear window shape and the "hockey stick" side sculpturing was reinforced when I saw the Shelby versions on exhibit. These had a rear brake scoop and the old rear window shape modified to form air scoops.
The Mustang is another car I'd be more likely to consider if they'd just go down a size.
Now if only I could get a look at the new Jag F-type.

Saw a Cadillac ELR today, pulling out of the Caddy dealer lot.
I haven't seen the C7 itself, but yesterday I saw a C7 pedal car in Costco. Toy manufacturers don't waste any time.
2009 BMW 335i, 2003 Corvette cnv. (RIP 2001 Jaguar XK8 cnv and 1985 MB 380SE [the best of the lot])
I just read a write up of the 2015 Mustang in Hot Rod magazine, and I really liked it. except for the center portion of the dash. It's got that clean 60s era pony car look. 420 HP from a 302 V-8 isn't too shabby either. I do wonder though about that measly 16 gallon gas tank. I'd be filling up every 2 days!
Saw my first Chevy Volt on the road... sort of. It was on a car carrier on the way to somewhere in MD I assume.
I keep hearing about how the new Cherokee is selling well, but I sure haven't been seeing them on actual roads. Anyone else?

I've seen a few here in my town .. but, I'm in Colorado so I can't say I'm too surprised. The looks are certainly growing on me, for sure.

I hear the Trailhawk is 21% of the total sales, which is way higher than anticipated.

Especially, since it's the pricy model.. starts at $30K, I think

I was at the dealer today getting an oil change for my 2012 Ram. They had a new Cherokee in the showroom, so I checked it out. It seems to be a nice little rig. It was comfortable for me up front, although the back was a little tight, and while not too hard to get into, was a lot harder for me to get out of.
I forget what trim level it was, but it had cloth seats, a 3.2 V-6, and was just FWD. It stickered for about $29,000.
Went out for a drive yesterday as 90% of the area would be busy watching the game. Stopped by the MB dealer in Tacoma to examine their inventory. No E bluetecs, one CLA, lots of gas Es and Cs, a new S (which I sat in, it's very impressive), an E63S, lots of normal cars, and the 2013 E63 they loaned to Russel Wilson (beloved Seahawk) for promo work.
Went out to make a service appointment (1 year) for the E, and browsed the local dealer. CLA45 on the showroom floor, had maybe every option - 60K! Also a leftover S550 and E550 - I wonder what discounts those would carry.
What? That's an AMG spec, right?
That's the one. 2.0 putting out 355hp, pretty amazing. I think it bases in the mid 40s, but you know German cars - everything is optional, and this one had a lot of em.
The base CLA45 is $47,500. If one were to tick every box, it tops out at just over $68K!!
I can't imagine the brutal depreciation on that configuration. You can buy some might nice rides for $68K.
Oh, that's not nearly as bad as you can get. Load up an S AMG or even an E63S - depreciation curve will resemble a rock thrown off a cliff, especially around time the warranty expires. M cars do similar.
And even non-tuned models can do it, if you buy them at the wrong time. Local MB dealer has a couple of interesting leftover 13s - a loaded designo E550 sedan with a 79K sticker, and a final run typically equipped S550 with a ~110K sticker. As these are now both a year old and old styles, I wouldn't touch them for anything less than 25-30% off - and they have no miles.
You can get a modestly optioned C63 for that money - the AWD of the CLA is nice, but the C63 is a pretty potent package otherwise.
In new cars, I saw a Fiat 500 centipede 4 door this morning, and a new baby Maserati - another one with a price that explodes with options, and to make one nice, you'll want a few.
The Ghibli starts at $60K and can be optioned out to $99K - same 110% or so as the CLA. I think the difference is that the CLA starts at $30K and is advertised as afforadable. The Maserati makes no pretension of being affordable for a $30K millionaire.
I suppose the Ghibli is for the should-be-hanged FIRE "worker" who wants to drive something frugal. Kind of like a RR Ghost - cheaper, but still pretentious. It might not be aiming at the mass market, but is certainly has sales based on lower price in mind.
Due to economic devolution, a 35K car still isn't obtainable for many, if not most.
Oh no doubt it's targeted at a more down trodden demographic. It could be for the mid to well paid tech worker looking for something different than an E/A6/5 series for about about the same money...
Still seems more expensive - average transaction price for middle Germans, with equivalent options, has to be a bit less than that thing. Most tech workers around here seem to like to be subtle, and buy those middle Germans - the real outrageous ones go Tesla. I'd think Italian one would go to (leased a lot I bet - out of warranty Maserati makes an out of warranty Audi look like a 3 year old Civic, no doubt) financial types, realtors in FL NY or CA, "independent businessmen", investor visa types.
Saw a Cadenza and 2014 E coupe and sedan both.
Saw a new Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk today, white with black hood stripe. Pretty quirky front end, though over all I like the vehicle.
Saw 2x new IS today - I wonder how the upcoming new C class will impact sales.
Jeep dealer has maybe 8-10 Cherokees on the lot.
About a month ago I stopped in a big Chevy dealer to see if they had a new Corvette on hand and was told that they are flying out of there, every single one they get is already sold. I wondered why I hadn't seen any on the streets since they've been on sale since October.
Yesterday I spotted a C7 wearing a nice shade of metallic neon blue. Out on the real world the styling looks less outre than in photos and I particularly liked the new rear treatment which tones down the big butt look of all post-C3 corvettes.

Got in line behind a Santa Fe 2.0T Sport today. Has kind of an X3 vibe, although it didn't look like it had a lot of ground clearance. Looked pretty good from the back, for what it is.
Saw another 3er GT, this one driven by a woman sitting about 5" from the wheel, driving with an 11-and-1 death grip. Hope she doesn't crash.
I finally saw a C7 Corvette (is that redundant?) today in the parking lot of my local grocery store.
Not as Batman-y as it looked in the pictures I've seen. I'm digging the long term test Edmunds is running - especially the story where they got it stuck in a blizzard on I-70 in Colorado. Ha!

I spotted a new Buick Encore, perhaps the third I've seen. They all seem to be grey and not nearly as popular as their big brothers in this Buick-happy area.

Spotted a matte grey RS7 today, any cool factor compromised by it being in a Whole Foods parking lot. Also a blacked out Tesla - so it can be as douchey as a similar BMW. And more exotic (for here where Teslas are a dime a dozen), a new style Quattroporte.
I see Teslas here everywhere as well. Neat looking things, but for an EV I think the Fisker is most stunning looking.
Our dealership actually had one in inventory that I got to drive. Really cool experience like nothing else I've tired before.
2016 Audi A7 3.0T S Line, 2021 Subaru WRX
Karma is definitely the looker of the two - Tesla is looking pretty normal already. The Fisker will be a good platform for a powertrain swap in the future. Put a twin turbo AMG unit in it or something.
I was able to look at a Ford Transit - the big one, not the Transit Connect - at a trade show in Las Vegas this week. It's so Euro and I really think it's going to do well. I also was able to see the Ram Promaster - a face only an Italian mother could love.
There's a row of those facing the street (unfortunately) at the dealer near my house. Amazing that one made it out of the design studio, hard to come up with a front end more homely:

I think the low roof shortest wheelbase Promaster would make a nice outdoor base camp. More cargo length than a minivan with a shorter overall outside length. You hearing me @stever ? Anyhow, I sort of like it.

Well it is essentially the same nose as the Fiat Ducato. It's a van - pretty isn't the goal. But if a tradesman arrives to your home first to do an estimate, it will scare off the other vans and he'll get the job.
lol, @tifighter, before I read your comment, I was thinking great visibility and the canoe painters would go straight down without rubbing the paint on the front of the Promaster. Just need the passenger package with side windows.
Yeah @stever, I've been looking at this thing recently. The SWB model is only 3 inches longer than an Accord ( I parallel park a lot), but has cargo area nearly 9 feet long, 6 feet wide above the wheelwells and nearly 5.5 feet tall with the low roof. My biggest mountain bike would fit sideways. Mount it up near the roof and I could take a nap with the bikes inside after a ride. Could change inside. Swivel seats from the factory. Canoes would be a reach but doable. Side windows available but no second row. That could be worked around, I'd guess, but they should offer a crew version like the Sprinter. Anyhow, a lot to like.
And to stay on topic, I have not been seeing these on the roads much yet.

We have our last canoe for sale anyway. Get a couple of "Kiwi" kayaks and carry them inside.
30mpg highway is probably too much to hope for, and a 5 speed MT sure would be nice too. On one trip we had no second row seats and, ahem, hauled the brother-in-law around for a couple of days in a lawn chair.
Just showed it to my wife and she likes it.
I've seen a few of the new small Nissan vans on the road - not a pretty sight either.
I still kind of like the little Transit/
