I'm looking for some advice on my first lease deal. I am looking at a 2016 Lexus GS 350 F Sport. I am looking at trading in my 2009 BMW 750li, with 82k miles. The dealer has offered me a 1 payment lease deal, I would need just add 3k into the deal to eliminate all payments for the 2 year lease. I asked for the 2 year lease as I get bored with my cars quickly and flip them very quickly. So with this lease I can get out as early as 18 months, if I wanted to. Here are the details of the offer: Market Value = 58,855.00 Accessories = 199 Dealer discount = -4385 Rebate = -4000 Net Price = 50,699.00 Trade In = 17,000.00 Trade Difference = 33,699.00 Taxes/Fess = 2391.77 Total = 36,090.77 24 Month one-time payment = 3823.46 Residual Value = 35,919.85
I dont have the money factor yet, I have asked for it. If someone can please review this and advise me if this is a good deal or not? I am located in Phoenix AZ.
Thanks, Eli
$867/mo. for a $59K car seems like a lot, especially if you are paying it all upfront.
They are selling me the car for $50,699 (Net price) which is below invoice.

We tend to evaluate lease deal strength based on the payment relative to the MSRP. If you read back through the last page or two of this discussion, you can see what others are paying.

Since my lease term is only 24 months, does that payment not seem correct?

Still pretty high, even with the short lease term.
Let's run the numbers:
MSRP - $58,855 Cap cost (with taxes and fees, but without trade in) - $53,091 MF - .00110 24/15 residual - 59%
Those numbers give me a payment of $862/mo, before tax and trade in.
What's hurting here is the really low 24 month residual - 36/15 residual is only 6% lower, but 12 more months to spread out the payments. I get $701/mo for 36 months, all else being equal.
My questions are as follows:
What happened to the trade equity? Every $1000 of equity will reduce your payment by $42/mo for a 24 month lease, and about $28/mo for a 36 month lease.
Generally, we recommend against using equity as cap reduction - that money is lost if the car is stolen or totaled, and it masks the true cost of the lease. Better to have the dealer cut you a check for the equity, or use some of it as MSD to buy down the MF.
Thanks for the information. I have already emailed the dealer about buying my car and cutting me a check. Then using that to make payments on the lease. Based on what you said, I will ask him for the 36 month lease numbers too.
That is how the guy wrote the deal up and put the rebate as cap reduction. What does MSD mean? Also overall is this a good/fair deal or you think better is available?

MSD is multiple security deposit. Each deposit, which is the monthly payment rounded up to the next highest $50, reduces the MF by .00008. Lexus allows a max of 9 MSDs.
We don't track selling prices, so can't help you with the strength of your pricing. You might want to get multiple dealers involved; that will help ensure you get the best pricing.

Be advised that those web prices may be for purchase only, and includes incentives that won't work for a lease.
I have not committed to anything yet. I'm a bit confused as to what would be the best option for me. I really like the 1-payment lease option, that way I dont have to worry any payments for 2 years. Your thoughts? If you dont mind me asking, how do you derive your numbers and (no offense intended) how valid are your numbers? Are you a Lexus "insider" ?

No offense taken. The information we have is confidential.
And, what incentive do we have to give you false information? You don't even know me - I'm just a dude on the 'net with the numbers you seek.
Based on history, do you find the incentives to be better during the December event VS what they are offering right now? Coz I'm not in any rush or have a need to buy right now.

We don't track historical data; I suppose you could go back to those dates in this discussion and see what the numbers were at that point.
Wondering what the residual and MF are for '16 GS350 or GS200t 36/15. Does Lexus offer an 18k mile lease? Also, is there any lease cash? I'm assuming these numbers will be for September, but I would be looking next month when my current lease is up. Thanks in advance guys
dealer quote says .0006 MF and 52% residual ($28,506.40) $54820 MSRP, Lease cash $4450, Sale price $52689 (less then 4% off) $594 base payment. Paying up front tax, fees, acq. $3100
I am trying to get $479 as advertised with$3999 drive off, but to get that gross cap has to go down to bellow $49000.
My apologies. Not sure what I was reading from.
I show 52% residual. But, I show the MF as either .00090 or .00110 - I don't have all regions, so no reason to disbelieve the .00060 you're getting quoted.
That $3999 is all cap reduction, which would add $110/mo to the payment. In addition to the $3999, you'd be responsible for all up front taxes and fees.
Michael can you please run this numbers and let me know if the numbers come out to be the same as they are quoting me. Im having a difficult time calculating it on my own.

Subtract the rebate from the sell price to get the CAP cost. The other fees and first payment are coming out of your $1999 upfront (with about $300 left over)
I get $439.91+tax with those assumptions. Only a few dollars off.

Yes the $1999 covers the fees and first payment. However, I also get $300 left over... So what happens to that $300? They using it as a cap cost reduction?

Tax on the rebate would be my guess
How can I calculate the registration/license fee? Also, how can I know if the rebate is taxed?
