Beautiful truck. It's weird how full-size pickups can pull off the shiny wheel.

Now, if they could just keep them off Corvettes. :(

I like the color on the truck. A lot. I'm surprised because it doesn't look near as good on the Volts I looked last year. Congrats!

    Looks great, SB!

I had this crazy notion a decade ago: I should buy a 2019 Chevy three-quarter ton to celebrate the 50th anniversary of my 1969 C20. The closer we get to 2019, the more I think I'm not in the market for a new truck! Maybe the best route is to wait until 2047, when a 2019 truck is 28 years old like mine was when I bought it. Should be more affordable then - and I can still sorta excuse it as a celebratory thing for the C20 turning 75...? :D

Drove a newish 2017 Jetta today from West Palm to our office and it accelerated like a bat out of hell! So much faster than my Golf and thinking it's the engine size. No turbo lag that I could feel, something I would really like on a daily basis!!! Was a real hoot to drive and hoping I can duplicate that same feeling in my 1.8t Golf.

Right color (on the outside) and right engine. I'd prefer fewer miles. I think my limit might be about 85k.

I wouldn't think that generation of the Cadillac CTS would be extremely unreliable. I wouldn't go for the first model year, but the major components, like the 3.6L V6, was used across the board for GM in many different models. I think some of the early V6s did have timing chain failures though.

At one time I was infatuated with the reincarnated GTO's and really, really wanted one. On a bet with a buddy I test drove a 2005 model when they changed the engine to the 400HP LS2. He said I would never even get off the lot with one being all of 21 years old but I went to a small Buick/Pontiac dealer and they didn't even blink. That car was a hoot to drive, it had power in spades and sounded so good at wide open throttle. Unfortunately it didn't fit my budget, either in payment or insurance, so I ended up with a Mazda 6 instead.

When they introduced the G8 and then the SS I was sorely tempted to go look at them but never got around to it.

We have the same taste in cars. I looked at that GTO pretty seriously when it came out, too. Looked at it again when they bumped HP to 400. Given it was a rework of the Holden, it was a bit quirky and eventually that was the reason I didn’t buy one.

I do recall the two dealers I spoke to thought it was some sort of collectible and wouldn’t budge off of MSRP. That also had something to do with the “no sale”.

But, those were a hoot to test drive.

Thanks to all for the congrats.
Only 2 options I wanted was the 6.2 motor and the max tow package. The only extra this one also had was the 20” wheels. If I was ordering I wouldn’t, but the deal was good.
Plus I found out that I’m getting a $700.00 Costco gift card and $400.00 in accessories since we own a small business.
That makes the deal even sweeter!

So got some looking in today. Wife got a break, since son is home visiting, and he was hot to trot for some test drives. Drove a 2018 Elantra SE value package. Lot of car for the money. Would be a killer deal. But I don't think I can do it. A bit weak, and really need to wind it up for any forward progress. Plus just seemed like a smaller, less fancy version of my car, and slower. A Hyundai I think would have to be a sport, which of course are rarer and more expensive. But, an option.

also drove a couple of VWs. Jetta SE (manual, since I am real familiar with the AT). Actually liked it, a lot. was fun. very well equipped, and liked the seats. Had a good cushion tilt angle, even though seats were manual fully. Nice thigh support too. Feature wise, has everything else I need. BLIS/cross path, fully keyfob less entry, sat radio, car play, moonroof, heated seats. So well equipped for the price. Liked the 1.4T engine. Pulled hard, felt every bit as good as the 1.8 version in our Sport.

Not sure how much the AT would suck it down, but I think not much, with the strong torque down low. Excellent MPG ratings too. I really did like the stick better in this than in the GLI for some reason. And the engine was even turning real low at 60, so did not miss 6th gear at all.

So, I was way more impressed than I expected to be. Son and I both just liked it better than the Hyundai (at least base engine version). Even without a plan to pass along to the daughter next summer, I could live with one for 3 years if the price was really right. Plenty useful for trips. Good size.

so sent out a couple of requests for lease #s. Tempting to buy, but would not want to do that on a 2017. So if one of the local guys bites on a sub-$200 lease payment with no DP, would be hard to say no.

Probably should just get something cheap before I talk myself into blowing the budget. Then next year, can start working on upgrading the wife's wheels instead!

oh, forgot my other test drive. Took out a Golf Alltrak. SE, so MSRP a bit over 30K. Was nice enough. Roomy. But seemed kinda soft? Not sure if right word. Definitely not too energetic with the AWD and AT. Not bad, but not really something I am interested in right now. Would prefer a Sportwagon FWD, but none of those to be found.

I did see a new Tiguan (now a good size) and an Atlas (man, what a barge. Looked like a Tahoe). But tons of cargo room in that baby.

I was fortunate enough to have lunch with @kyfdx on Wednesday while I was in Cincinnati. Was talking about my plan to not replace the Jetta when the lease was up, then get something fancy (CPO lux brand) when the Subaru was paid off.

He suggested that I should take the payment savings from the Jetta and put it towards the Subaru loan.

Brilliant! That way, I'd only have to live without a vehicle for about a year, rather than 18 months.

I probably should try the one car deal. Just pretty sure it would be short lived.

will wait to see if I get a too good to pass up offer this week on a Jetta. If not, can wait until month end and try again. Not like I need a 3rd car here for the next month!

One reason to go cheap cheap cheap of course is a year from now, can start working on the wife to upgrade her car instead. If she gets tired of riding around in a Jetta!

My wife is not a big fan of the Jetta - she's uncomfortable riding in it.

When - or if - I replace it, I'll have to get her to ride along to see if she's comfortable.

my wife just does not like VWs. But has ridden in (and driven) our Jetta plenty of times, traveling back and forth to school when moving the daughter in or out (they usually go together, I get to take the RDX solo). So she might grumble a bit, but in the end, will just be happy the process is over.

So, won't be too bent out of shape if they don't come back with a too good to pass up price. Not sure what supply will be like at the end of the month, but can just as easily wait. And probably will anyway.

My wife is funny about our Elantra.   She likes to drive it (wishes it had a better stereo) but hates to ride in it.  Kinda weird.  Last night we were driving back from the shore (in the Elantra) and I mentioned next time I want something a little bigger and she mentioned a second SUV... “a smaller one (like your Moms, RAV4)”. I quickly sure if that’s gonna be your car and replace the Enclave. That conversation ended quickly.
