Marco, I'm from that same area but we lived in Briarcliff Manor, just north of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. Would love to move back there but the price of real estate would kill us. Our house sold last time for $880,000 but it does have a pool now. My folks paid considerably less when we moved in back in the fall of 1957. Westchester is just too pricey for us now with South Florida being very affordable. But I'm about ready to try another part of the country now with some cooler weather and seasons, tired of warm and hot with a couple cool days thrown in there to tease us!

this seems like it could be a good deal. not even in service for 1 year, and got the TT V6 so plenty speedy. Seems to be reasonably well equipped.

Q...that's what I was thinking. Why have these dropped in value so much? I got ~$10K more for mine and it was one model year older than this one just 4 months ago.....from a dealer, no less!

An SE AT. About $5k off is pretty good. Might be some wiggle room in the lease, but still not bad really.

I'd say that is darn good, given the additional equipment the 2017 SE has over my 2016 SE.

My lease would have been right around $200/mo, if not for the trade value of the Elantra GT.

So this past weekend marked 16 weeks with the truck. I just did the math and I am pretty much dead on with my yearly allotment of miles. 4600 miles in 16 weeks calculates out to about 14,950/yr.

My twin moved to Ashville but too far west for my tastes. The Davidson/Cornelius area is where I'd like to be but just have to convince the other half. I know hurricanes do come through there but more towards the coast from what I've remembered. But me and Florida have about had it with our romance at this point, doubt I have anymore hurricanes left in me! Honestly, I'm still not 100% back to myself yet, about a month later...still feel like I'm only 3/4 there. A bit irritable and just not behaving like I normally do to be honest, I feel out of sync. And with traveling soon, just want to feel like me again!

thanks. A little pricier factoring in the 2 MYs older. But looks nice. Like the colors. Plenty of power for me though. Gotta be faster than a base engine Sonata.

might run up and take a look this week. Need QB to weigh in on the price though! If bought right, should hold value pretty well for a couple of years putting low miles on. I hope.

bad accident in the history of the 2010. Given that, the price is nowhere near reasonable. Maybe a $7k vehicle if repaired right.

'09 seems clean. Manheim pegs it in the high $6k range BUT one with almost identical miles and same color just sold in CA auction for $8k. So price seems fair enough, all things considered.

I’d ax the 2010 given the accident history. The gray on gray is a pretty color combo.  The drivetrain on the E90 328 is pretty solid.  Some electrical bugaboos can crop up with window switches and the like abs it never hurts to take a good look at the cooling system on an older BMW.  A good Indy shop would do a thorough PPI for you I’m sure. Obviously I love them but as I’m sure you know they can be pricy when things go wrong and around the 80k mark you are going to be looking at some maintenance items if it hasn’t been done already.

I have noticed the past few years that the tires on new cars do not last as long. Even with rotation every 5K or 6 months. Lucky if I get anywhere from 15,000 to 20,000 miles. Often replacement seem to last longer.

True. For most vehicles, they have no incentive to equip with long-lived tires. If anything, they get additional incentives from the tire manufacturers to use the high-treadwear models. Plus, it puts the buyers back in the market for tires much sooner!

My wife's 2013 Accord has c. 45k miles on its original Goodyear tires, and they still look like they have probably a year or two of life left in them. I think the exact replacement tire has a "65,000 mile" tread warranty, and so seems like they are more or less on target.

One puzzling thing is that the OEM Goodyear tires are "V-rated," but looking up the replacement they are only "H-rated." Probably not much of a difference there.....?

But maybe tires for luxury makers are made of higher-performance rubber that wears out more quickly?

What percentage of buyers even make note of the tire brand or model that comes with their OEM brand new car? Probably very low; so the do get "away with it," when they cheap out.

Yes, for some people, tire longevity is of minor concern, but traction, G forces, and braking distances all factor in as much more of a priority. Would hate to rear end someone because I couldn't stop on super hard tires when good tires would have done the job! Of course, it is the driver's responsibility to drive appropriately to the conditions, and hard low traction long lasting tires are a condition to be accounted for!

Not discounting driver responsibility here.... Long-lasting tires don't equate to low traction. Assurance tires, which rank among the best for "all-season" traction in their category, also have outstanding treadwear characteristics. B)

You can walk around a dealership lot and see different manufacturers tires on the same vehicle. I had a toyota sequoia that had bridgestone tires. Drove another one with Michelin tires. Dealer swapped out bridgestone for Michelin for only a few hundred dollars. Drive much better with Michelin.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,347
a few times I have seen that and at least once picked a unit based on the tires. Would also have no problem making swapping wheels a part of the deal (not putting new tires on, actually just switching the wheels and tires from one car to another).

True, there are exceptions, the Pilot Super Sports are very popular in part because they outlast tires you think would last longer because they have less heat resistance or less traction.
