C&D had a story on the new QX50 engine technology.

They were impressed, but their take: All that for just one mpg?

I think they may be dealing on Scat Packs, too. Far far less money.

Around here, I probably couldn't get a regular R/T hemi past 3rd gear or over 1500 RPMs most of the time. So I know a Scat pack, and certainly a Hellcat, would be just a tad overkill.

Yes, with a scat pack, your tires might last a few thousand miles rather than a few hundred feet. ;b

I'm sadly finding that to be the case more often. I can't even open up the F150 very often.

If I had a Hellcat, I'd put one of those heavy wheel clamp things on it every time I parked it on the street. It just screams "joyride" a little too much.

Sure... but, try to sell me an extra complicated powertrain for one mpg? I might look elsewhere.

Read that C&D article. It's nuts.

agreed on that. And I will gladly trade my 1/20th of a MPG to get my spare tire back.

@stickguy @Michaell I did mix the “X“ in the “Q“ posts. Sorry about that. I do like the QX 50 that just came out. I received some emails regarding the announcement. From the pictures, they look pretty sharp. That said, I do like the 3.7 L motor much better than a 3.0 T in any of the Infiniti models.

Plus, you can get a new EX35 for wayyyyyy fewer Benjamins than the QX50, and probably be happier with the drive.

No need to apologize - we all misread stuff from time to time.

My daughter isn't into used vehicles...
There are still some '17 QX50s with the 3.7L around.....new! I'd have her look at those. I thought the one I drove (as a loaner) handled better than the Q50 sedan 3.0T I owned briefly.

That platform was a winner for Infiniti....so was the drivetrain. Unfortunately, it was also thirsty.

I'd have to see if there are any left here in CO. I know they were $10k off sticker.

But, it would depend on how they were optioned. She wants it all!

My son just got picked up in a GLA 45 AMG.  The run of the mill GLA 250 I don’t particularly care for.  This GLA45 AMG was sharp.  Black/Black too.

I remember that stretch of highway - I had lots of business (and family) in South Jersey, and I'd take the Ben Franklin across. If I remembered to exit 95 correctly.

I didn't, one time, and spent an interesting 20 minutes or so cruising North Philadelphia with my (first) wife with me.

We made it to Philly for the long weekend. My Mom picked us up with my Dad’s Cayenne Turbo S, which I happily strapped Sam into and drove home to let my Mom have a chance to sit with the baby.

Unfortunately, wall-to-wall traffic on 95 S and on the Blue Route all the way to Broomall meant I didn’t get a chance to really open it up.

They do, at least the dealer my dad uses does. Not sure if it’s a GM mandate or if the dealer chooses to fund it themselves. He is on his second one and loves it.  The CCBA gene runs deep. He turns the fleet over every 18-24 months whether mom likes her car or not!

For a time, I had a strong desire to repurchase my 2013 Passat. However, it seems that by the time they clear these storage lots out, I will have long since moved on.

I've driven past the lot here in CO - a great big field next to Pikes Peak Int'l Raceway, south of Colorado Springs.

And, when I was in CA earlier this month, there was a transport truck on the side of the road filled with Golf or Jetta wagons.

If I had found a deal on a TDI Passat, I might have kept it around until the deadline to take the buyback. I liked the Passat I had as a loaner.

It's fun watching you lot discuss and/or fight over the crap that results from the ways cars are distributed these days. It's clear that the targets are uninformed people, people who can't live without the latest thing, or people who have ADHD.

Appears to be a fertile field.

Bad news today. Called to see when my rental was due back, thought it was next week. Nope...turn back has to be by 6 pm TODAY!!! Needless to say, I was more than pissed off and let Safeco Insurance know this. Got the same run around [non-permissible content removed] and the promised return call by the end of the day of course never happened. Why do folks say they'll do something and then not do it? Don't say it if you ain't gonna do it because now, your credibility with me is zero. I'll no longer trust you or work with you ever again because your word is your bond as far as I'm concerned.
Had to leave work early as I needed to get home, clean out some stuff and then put a few gallons to get to a quarter of a tank. Dropped the car off about 5ish and they drove me home as I went to the office right near our house. So, for the weekend, I'm carless, have nothing to drive except the wife's A3. Will be renting a Hertz compact come Monday morning for the week, as the prices go down dramatically Monday and with my gold member and employee discounts, got a excellent deal as it's out of my pocket now.
Weird not having a car for me to use as this has never happened before. So, mine will be ready Thursday and will drop off the rental either Thursday afternoon or Saturday since it's here in Coral Springs. Needless to say, this nightmare just got worse!!

I check the transport section in Craigslist every couple of months just to see what's out there. Of course, that same West Palm Beach gig is still asking for drivers. Again I apply, but tell them not to respond if they still have that ridiculous "no old employees can work here". Apparently that's still their m o but did apply to another driver ad for a one day/week driving job at the Ft. Lauderdale auto auction. So for kicks, I apply and know nothing will happen. Well, last evening while going through my emails, there it is, a response from that job. If you can report on Monday to a employment meeting in West Palm Beach at 2 pm, email us back. I work Mondays but ask the boss for the day off which he says sure. Offer to work till noon but he says just come in Tuesday as a make up day. So Monday, after picking up my rental, it's off to an orientation in West Palm about this new gig.
Since they just are looking for one day/week, I'll go and check it out. Have nothing to lose really and it could turn out to be an nice opportunity here. Got a feeling though that if hired, the one day will turn into two or more but will give it a shot and see where it takes me. Still feel bad about not taking the Enterprise gig in Broward County but they just want too many hours and working six days each week ain't gonna happen anymore, just too taxing on my body at this point.
I've always been told that when G-d closes a door, he always opens a window and hoping this will be the case here. The Ft. Lauderdale auction is a doable driving distance so we'll see how it goes Monday!

Send man sorry to hear what Safeco insurance did too we had them and when he had an accident couple of years ago with one of the cars were giving the body shop a hard time in pain because they found a little more damage they took the carport it was going to be a little more in the original estimate then after that they dropped us as he passed them are due to high risk or some nonsense they told us

Just read a boatload of posts and can’t remember which thread you mentioned the rental car ending so I’ll just comment here.   I’ve never heard of the insurance company not extending your rental to cover the length of repair especially on a not at fault accident like yours

When I was in this situation I just kept the car and told the insurance company my vehicle wasn’t done and they simply kept paying.

Well, turned in the rental on Friday and getting another tomorrow morning on my dime. I need a vehicle so have no choice. Wouldn’t be surprised if Safeco drops us after all this nonsense or at least won’t pick us up again next February. Our policy started on February 13th and my accident happened on the 28th. But since it wasn’t my fault, maybe we’ll be o k going forward. Still, just waiting for this nightmare to be over!!!
