Same here... It reminds me of a Tesla Model X from the rear. The SUV body style is actually quite attractive.

Of course, if you've already bought it, never mind.. ;)

Forgot to mention, I HATE the autostop in the Alfa. It is very intrusive and messy. The Ford's is far far superior.

Had one, maybe two glitches today. The big one just happened a few mins ago. The infotainment went totally dead. Black screen. Then it slowly restarted itself like 2 mins later. This was while driving.

The other may not be a glitch, but it is terrible programming if not. The front object sensor will continue to screech at me even when not in Drive. So I had used the remote start and when I came out to the car, you could hear the alarm squealing away. Got in and hit the start button and it didn't go away. It wasn't until I put it in reverse and backed away from the wall that it stopped. So, in other words, if you park this in a garage, you'd have that to look forward to ALL THE TIME!
Are you able to turn off the Auto-Stop? Perhaps the sensors are dirty. I've read where some are more sensitive than others.
Well it is not that the sensors are incorrect. They just should not be active unless you have the car in gear. That is what every other car I have ever driven does.

i should throw out a positive. Or a couple. 1: while the ride may be considered harsh by SUV standards, it handles bumps and unevenness far better than my truck. The same ones that would violently shake passengers side to side in the F150 are muted to single thump in the alfa. 2: this thing has GRIP. So glad I got the sport with wider tires. My kids are screaming long before the tires are. ;b

    Oh #r*p @corvette! Sorry...

But, this too is quite fixable.

I'd much rather have the normal GLC than the "coupe", but that's just me.

Condolences on the bumper. I guess it's easy (if not cheap) enough to swap in a new one anyway.

    Man that stinks, @corvette

I would go for the Macan any day over the GLC coupe.

Dad backed into it with the Element. Most of the damage looks like it was caused by the hitch on the Element.

Well, we were looking pretty closely at the GLC coupe, but didn't pull the trigger, or even come close.

Most likely outcome is an Allroad that we've been working a deal on.

Right now she’s looking at a dark gray Allroad with a gray interior.  It’s really sharp.

The allroad is basically a lifted A4 with the same engine. It doesn’t seem all that compelling given your current stable of vehicles as well as those you’re comparing it with.

  • breldbreld Member Posts: 6,938
Well, it’s essentially the same as the Q5 but in wagon form, right?  Which is comparable to the GLC and the Macan, though the Porsche certainly has a sportier edge to it.

She actually wants something that’s more forgiving and comfortable for the daily commute than some of the choices in the current stable.  The Allroad provides that competency in the wagon form she still loves.

What’s funny is the person who traded in the Polestar in the first place replaced it with a Forester with a lift kit.  He moved from Hawaii to Colorado and we think he lost his mind a but buying into the off-roading opportunities.

At least we’re thinking a bit nicer than a Forester (with all due respect) as a replacement.

Yeah, an everyday wheel set on the V60 seems preferable to an allroad to me. Plus Polestar blue.

Not unless Volvo could show that the lift created the problem---and to be fair, lift kits are tough on suspension systems, so I would imagine that if you had suspension failures, Volvo would raise hell, yes.

The Porsche sales lady we worked with last week had called back on Friday regarding retired service loaners.  They seem to be upwards of $10k off, which puts a nicely equipped one (base model, but that’s more than okay for us) right around the same price range of the Audis.

took the Elantra for a weekend get-away to Cape May. About 60 miles each way. Very little highway, mostly country roads/4 lane types. Car must like that use, because the TC said on the way down it got 38.2, and on the way back 39.3.

Still not sure how they only got it EPA rated 26/33 or so.

    Last year, I saw a CLK550 for $13,500.

Did it have a stick? No, but it had 380 HP, and was actually “sporty”.

That’s similar to what we’re currently targeting.

Our salesperson claims she can pull this one, or one just like it, from the service fleet and offer it for about $10k off.

that car must be very rare. I would also like to have it!

I thought they did not have by then. I do remember test driving one with a stick somewhere in the early/mid 90s I guess, when they did one of the redesigns and made it with a stick. And for some reason, local dealer even ordered one!

don't remember much about it, other than it had a little tiny tach, and that seemed odd to me.

Edit: OK, it was the series that came out in 2001. Like this one (but red). This actually doesn't look too bad. Certainly cheap!

Yeah, it ain’t cheap, but neither are the competitors from Audi, BMW and MB.  The base Macan offers a nice alternative to the Q5, GLC and X3.  And if you’re a little picky on the options, the premium isn’t all that much.

Just based on a couple test drives, I’d say the Macan offers a really tight and solid ride, just a step more than those other models.  And the transmission is incredible.

Having said that, those differences are subtle - they’re all really nice vehicles.  Then there is the styling of the Macan - it’s really appealing to my wife for sure.

So yesterday on my “day off,” I took my daughter to hockey, then my 9year old son (the goalie) had a game (tied 4-4), then took all 3 of my kids to my 9 year old son’s team lunch, and finally to a kids spartan race.  This was my wife’s idea (she was working).  All 3 of my kids finished the 2 mile course.  I was impressed.

One of the sponsors was the local VW dealer who had 2 2019 Jetta SE models on display, opened up for all to check out.  I’ve seen a few of these in the wild, but never had the chance to check one out up close.  The sheet metal looks really well done in person.  Pics make it just look sort of OK, but it is a handsome car.  Paint (white) seemed to be thick and very high quality.  Typical nicely finished VW interior with lots of soft touch plastic and high quality vinyl seats.  Big trunk, dual climate control, hot seats, & a pano roof for a $23K Sticker make this car look like a solid buy.  Doors had the German thunk when you close them.
