If you believe their websites, there are dealers already advertising up to $2k off the GLIs too, and deals will only get better.

Now that its on the MQB platform, it’s a pretty attractive value.

license plate on the Infiniti looks like it is crooked!

My wife "hates" VW also (more like just does not care for them, and doesn't understand the attraction for the rest of the family). But, if it is my car, especially on a lease, she won't complain as long as it is comfy to ride in.

Next car up is going to be for her anyway. 2.5 years from now of course, but that time can fly by!

Yeah.. but that’s the problem. It will probably stink to lease for a good while.

most likely, which is fine by me, too. Doesn't make sense if I can't get it for less than a BMW or Volvo.

Gorgeous car. Congrats. What model is that, a 400? Straight 6?

I’ll wager you are probably the only 40ish single guy in the country driving a new Benz station wagon!

    Time for a punch.

I done did a thing yesterday, and the Bluetec is gone. I still have some sellers remorse (although technically I didn't own it), but I got into leasing to not get attached to cars, and I need to move on. It was a good car, and I hope the next owner has a commute to put more miles on it, and take advantage of that engine, I felt like I was wasting its potential at only around 8K miles/year.

The new car is below (images from online footprints of the listing, removed from the dealer site already even though I didn't finish the deal until 15 minutes before closing - I do the best I can :) )

    image

    image

Finished so late last night that I was pooped when I got home, haven't detailed it yet - I told them I would do it myself. I've driven it about 20 miles now - incredibly serene ride. Also an unusual spec, I can't find an identical car in nationwide inventory, I think that might have helped it move, as the salesman even admitted people don't generally like the lux trim. My payment went up, but for a posh ride.

Very nice! Glad to see they came to their senses - given what you and I calculated early on as what they would charge, it sounds like you really hammered them down!

I suspect I will change the average demographic stats for the car, I am definitely an outlier for the non-AMG model. New, lease, E450 4Matic, TTV6 (straight 6 is E53, which USA doesn't get as a wagon, but Canada does, yay). I think the numbers are roughly 360hp/370tq, so it isn't a slouch either, I think on paper it is faster than my old E55 AMG. The MF was awful, so I had to attack on the price, which is often a battle with wagons. Eventually I was able to get a number I wanted, although I got the "we're not making any money on this, this is just to get a sales number" story, which might have been true.

Diamond white on nut brown/espresso brown tex, natural finish brown wood, widescreen gauges, pano, lighting, drivers assist, parking assist, warmth and comfort, 19" 10 spoke wheels, lux trim, illuminated sills, and some other small options. Being highly optioned with tex amused me, and as I like tex, I am fine with that, easy maintenance.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,597
It was a long effort, but I was OK with it in the end, going back and forth between the last couple hundred dollars. I also am getting rubber mats and a rear cargo area mat thrown in (I had them in the old car, and told them I would leave them if they get me new ones), and they get to deal with removing the dashcam wiring, if they so choose.

I was able to easily exceed 10% off, which for a wagon might not be easy - but EOM and EOQ helped, I think. I don't have the exact numbers in my head, but it is barely more than the sign and drive offered by Wilsonville on a similar MSRP 2019 with 2K miles on it.

@fintail, very nice color combination, and like the interior, digital dash, Burmester audio, etc. Not a wagon guy, but like it a lot. Hope you enjoy it. 3-year lease?

So what is that? About a $75k wagon?

Yep, 36 months. I'll have some smooth driving days ahead - this car feels several degrees more complex than the prior car (which was effectively 2009 era tech), and the ride is like a cloud in comparison to the "sport" suspension on the W212.

MSRP in that range yeah. They can really be loaded up too - check every box and go nuts with Designo trim, and I think you can pass 90K without much effort. Local dealer had a few in stock, one was somewhere in the low 80s.

Thanks all. I hope to enjoy it enough to compensate for the increased expense - with what I will spend on fuel and some extra payment, this is hitting as much as I want to spend on a lease. But, it kept me from going crazy and putting 15K down on a used G-Wagen with its enormous running costs, so maybe it isn't a bad idea.

And thanks @28firefighter for the earlier advice and tips, it helped me put my mind around the numbers when it came time to deal. I think the right time of month and just enough of a an odd trim level helped me a little.

I got tired of going back and forth between the Mazda3, the MINI Clubman, GTI, etc., etc.

So I just threw caution to the wind and bought this instead.
