Holy moly I love that one. I expect it will go pretty steep. Love the blue interior, and seems to be the holy grail of ownership and maintenance.

“ So I hang up. A few mins later, phone rings, and the guy says "I just missed a call from this number." Alright, well, sure ...”

A few days ago I was trying to reach a home repair place. It rang and rang then went to voicemail. The recorded voice said it was Joe something (not the guy I was looking for). I hung up and redialed successfully.

Shortly thereafter I got a call from Homeland Security asking what I wanted.

Oh boy. The search MAY be coming to an end. I finally decided to pick up the phone and call a place. Of course, as soon as I do that, after about 3 rings, my wife starts yelling through the house for the kids. SIGH. Usual stuff around here that prevents me from doing stuff like this. So I hang up. A few mins later, phone rings, and the guy says "I just missed a call from this number." Alright, well, sure ... so I tell him I'm looking at the ML63 on his website, ask him some questions, he tells me all about this car, they've had it on the lift, done a bunch of preventative maintenance, new tires, brakes, fluids, valve cover and timing seals. Not because it necessarily needed all that but because MB calls for it. OK, I guess. Asked if he happen to notice the head bolts while in there, but that was beyond his knowledge. ANYWAY, short of it is, I made a total offer, including shipping to my door (he has a connection and his website says they ship). He said he'll have to look up the numbers when in the office, but he thinks it is doable. I should know tomorrow. He's also going to do a walkaround video and send it to me.

Big difference in service from the other place.

I got a call Tuesday from a CPA letting me know my return was ready to pick up. Being as I don’t use a CPA, I called back to let them know they dialed wrong (wanted a 73, dialed a 93). The lady was appreciative. And sounded a bit surprised at someone have basic consideration! I’ve done that a few times after getting important calls, like from doctors, for someone else.

When I run the mower(s) for the last time each year, I add some Stabil as I am running out the tank.

That’s what I do with the lawn tractor and two cars I store for the winter. Seems to work ok.

@nyccarguy checked out a Saab 9-2X for me in 2014, I think? In NJ. Those are nice cars. This guy mentions under body rust, and that was a big issue for the one that Bradd checked out for me. Super low miles for an '06.

I think it was fin who posted the ML63 for me. I kept an eye on it, but silver on black = yuck. And I just got a verbal deal on one for $3k less with the same miles and also recent extensive service. Granted, the silver is newer and MAYBE mine needs head bolts. It isn't a guaranteed issue, nor will I know if mine has the updated ones unless I pull a valve cover, which I will likely do. But mine is SO MUCH prettier. ;b

Q, what color combo is it? I lost track of all the various ads.

The head bolts, if needed, is that something you can do yourself? I know the job is expensive at a dealer, but I’m sure that’s likely $200 in parts and $3,800 in labor. Plus of course, all the “while you are in there” stuff.

Good idea; a Camry will sleep another couple of passengers.

Haven't you heard.... with Toyota's partnership with BMW, there's going to be an M-Camry version coming soon. :)

OK, I joke, it's just a CAMRY SE TRD or something silly like that. The "performance" Camry, because Camry is what everyone thinks of when they want performance.

You're probably right about the Mini Cooper and agree with the fancier Elantra GT. A shame the HR-V can't get the 1.5 turbo from the Civic as I hear it's a bit of a slow poke on the road. I don't mind the looks and like the new alloys. The EX-L model is the top of the line model but think worth the extra cost. Since I've never driven one, am quite curious. Never saw any at Hertz or Enterprise. A Civic just doesn't excite me looks wise and my 2006 LX had some issues that I thought ruined the experience honestly. I was expecting perfection but only got mediocre to be honest. And I guess I still want to be wowed like the Golf has done until recently and these new issues.

    @Sandman6472

I think it's important to put in perspective recent issues as they are just that, recent issues. How many months have you owned the Golf, and how many times have you had to take it into unscheduled maintenance? How many unexpected unscheduled dollars have you spent on it?

I'd mathematically calculate how much time and money you are using on the Golf, really, as an average over time. I bet it is quite low when you look at it like that. Perfection is rare. Only Toyota really seems to have the "flawless" car down (and Lexus).

Yikes! Holy rust batman! That was a sketchy neighborhood in NJ. I remember pulling up in my 2011 328xi and asking to test drive that Saabaru. The guy looked at my BMW and said: "That your car?, just leave me the keys." The whole time I was test driving the 92X, I was certain when I got back my BMW was going to be on its way to the dock at the port of Newark.

The only problem the TSX had was that the TL was better in every way. The TSX didn't get the awesome 3.2 V6; you had to settle for the little 4-banger. I did like the design and looks of the TSX and the TSX wagon.

I have a feeling the sound system in the TL was better too, being the first famous "ELS" Acura system in the '04+ era of Acura's heyday with the TL.

Acura should consider " pulling a Ford, and as with the Mustang, issuing a new TLX based on the old TL looks and design, but with modern touches, a retro TLX/TL.

It’s a BMW with over 100K miles. Of course it’s a time bomb.
I define "time bomb" as something that'll cost over $5,000 to fix. An example would be the old V8 Audi's with the difficult to change timing belt so you either spend $7K in maintenance, or let it explode, now that's a ticking time bomb.

There is a cheaper and easier way to do it IF you have not yet had a bolt failure. If you have, then it's a whole different ballgame because your head gasket is bad now. If doing as preventative maintenance, just gotta remove and reinstall 1 bolt at a time. Still need to pull out the camshafts, I believe, though. So not an EASY job. FCP sells a kit for $280 that includes the bolts and valve cover gaskets and some other small item seals.

I'll admit that I broke my rule about how much over auction value I would pay for a car, BUT I figured new brakes and tires and $0 dealer fee more than makes up for it. He whined just a little. "I hate to let it go for that, but ... COVID."

@qbrozen - sharp looking! Looked black for the first few seconds, then I noticed it was a dark blue.

Not that I'm in the market, but the wife commented to me about a car she spotted this past week that caught her eye.

MB C-Class coupe. Kinda at the opposite end of the spectrum from the Outback, for sure. Looks like there are some nice low mileage examples available under $30K.

If I could get her to approve trading in the Subaru, the monthly nut wouldn't be too bad....

It is coming from FL, where it has spent its whole life so far. Good history report. Even has the books and original headsets inside, along with weathertech mats.

Yes, it is a good bit faster than the Charger. But it can't do burnouts. ;b

Looks very nice. If you get it and don't like it, would you want to take over a Tundra lease?

I've been watching the WatchJRGo channel and it inspired me to change the coolant in the G37, which is something it's needed since I bought it. The low ground clearance made it a little tough, but it wasn't bad--just unscrew a Phillips head drain plug that you can't see, and have to get to by feel... I didn't even have to remove all the way, so didn't have to worry about getting it threaded back in. I think Infiniti says the first coolant change is at seven years and then every five years thereafter, so unlikely I will have to do it again during my ownership period.

Took it for a 20 minute or so drive and the temp gauge never moved past the midpoint, and the the reservoir was still showing full. Contrast that with bleeding the coolant on the 540i I had, which was a nightmare.

The only other maintenance need the G has is a brake fluid flush.

Ah, of course. And you’d give $10k cash and continue paying the lease. No problem.

....Yesterday, I intentionally took the first Corolla I could find to get a feel for it. Definitely not a penalty box by any stretch...perfect size with great view all around....

The front styling of the Corolla is a bit much for me. Why is this reliable economy car so angry? Or is it just trying to bite a Mini or something?

I read an article in R&T which suggested that maybe a Toyota looks so angry because Hyundai is doing such a good job of imitating it.
