Nobody has stated the obvious. @breld is at a dealership with (practically) $15k in his pocket. How is this going to end???

I was at the sister MINI dealership picking up the Countryman - didn't coordinate with @breld, so we missed each other.

I think he will pocket the profit from the Supra and survey the field. I'm starting to notice more, er, maturity in his car buying process. Notice he didn't jump right into either of the M2's he was stalking? A few years ago, he'd have pulled the trigger pretty quickly.

FWIW, that 2018 M2 manual was still sitting there available. I thought it had sold - I'll be curious to see if it goes through a price reduction, but it would have to get quite low to tempt me.

@breld , how about having carvana drop something off for the free 30-day test drive? You could get several out of your system that wAy. I do wonder how many before they cut you off.

Other route for you is Turo or just regular rentals. Gotta find the high end stuff, of course. Drive your Leaf to where renting from and leave it there. Haha.

I think the M3 Competition press car is black or very dark grey. The dark color hides that hideous grille well.

Same thing on some Toyota models. The dark colors hide the grill much better.

    @oldfarmer50,
    Seems like a great number.
    Try Vroom, too.
I have a feeling their offer will be lower.
They just went through a well published fiasco with TFL.

I thought that was an insane offer on a six year old car but what would I replace it with in a hyper-inflated market?

At the dealership getting my X3 serviced. I was pleased that it was no problem to “refresh” the maintenance plan into my name, so this 20k service essentially cost me $100. It’ll be the last included maintenance since the car turns 3 years old next month, but obviously worth it just for this single service.

So many questions. How does it compare in size to the Ranger? Isn’t Ford afraid that this truck will cannibalize Ranger sales? How about prices, this video mentions $27k while I think the Ranger starts in the upper $20s.

    I wouldn’t mind a 2 door with a longer bed.

Yes, more the size of the old Ranger though not quite as small. A unibody pickup like the Ridgeline I believe. They will sell a bunch if priced right.

That's the tricky part--hard to justify a Ranger/Colorado/Canyon when the real-world selling prices are so close to a full-size.

I saw another video with clear pictures and more detail. Unibody, IRS, and about 2 feet shorter than a ranger. And smaller engine.

Out of curiosity I went on Ford’s site. There really is no stripper Ranger. Doesn’t even have a manual tranny option in the XL model. I found I could get a real, at the dealer, model with no options except a $500 tow hitch for about $25k after incentives. Less than I thought.

Of course you can really load them up. Some of the higher trim levels topped out close to $45k. I suppose if that was your only vehicle and drove it to the club with your rich friends that might make sense but if, like me, you’d be hauling junk to the dump it just wouldn’t fly.

In fact, I don’t even like the idea of a “new” truck. I see a truck as purely utilitarian and it should have some dings and blemishes along with a lower price. The trouble is, there are no cheap trucks any more. Even the junkers go for obscene prices.

I like that Maverick. While it will get compared to the Ranger for customers, I bet it also gets compared to the Transit Connect for fleet buyers. Good hedge if the dollar goes awry; the Transit is still imported from Spain, right?

But I agree with RB, there has to be a better name...

The seller needs to take a course in photography. There’s not one clear picture of the whole car.

Now I know that I’m a low mile fanatic but how would you know that at 129k miles that car wasn’t all used up and waiting to slap you with expensive repairs? I mean, my cargo van has about the same mileage and it’s a wreck.

Wow! That's the one that was here in Fairbanks. It looked just like that, down to the camo. I don't think it's really all that small. Maybe "mid-size" from the early '00s. It may not be longer than the old Ranger, but I think it is most definitely wider. And, honestly, that's good. If this thing can hold a 4' sheet of plywood, etc., flat in the bed, then it's a winner.
