Not a good time to be a Volvo dealer though, at least on the surface. Volvo selling direct to the consumer (assuming there isn't too much resistance to their one-price model) leaves very little for their dealer network to do. I wonder how they intend to deal with that issue.

Wow! That's the one that was here in Fairbanks. It looked just like that, down to the camo. I don't think it's really all that small. Maybe "mid-size" from the early '00s. It may not be longer than the old Ranger, but I think it is most definitely wider. And, honestly, that's good. If this thing can hold a 4' sheet of plywood, etc., flat in the bed, then it's a winner.
I too would be in on the Maverick. Looks like the perfect size to me along with the upcoming Hyundai El Camino. The name escapes me at the moment but probably a desert or mountain range.
If it was priced around $20k as someone mentioned, I’d give it a look although I’d rather have the 2.3 ecoboost from the Ranger than the 1.5 turbo from the Fusion.

    Hyundai Santa Cruz I think.

On the Maverick (and I really want to know what the length and width on that one are) it is supposed to base with the 1.5l engine, with the 2.0t as the optional. Not likely getting the 2.3l.

one video I saw said it was unclear if it was actually based on the new Bronco sport platform (C2?) or the existing Transit Connect platform (C1). The old one makes a lot of sense if it is really being geared toward the S. American market. But hopefully it is on the newer version.

that Ram 1000 looks cool too. More like the Hyundai than the Maverick which looks like a real PU.

I love the design of that upcoming C40. Same platform as the XC40 and Polestar 2, so a bit smaller than the Mach E.

All of them seem to be right around $60k (before incentives) - with a range closer to 300 miles, it could be more enticing, but I believe the Polestar’s 233 miles is the highest of all of them.

They must send that offer out only to “mature” owners since many of the youngins’ never were taught to read script. Kind of like manual shifting, it dies with us.

It looks like a kind of block / cursive hybrid to me. I do the same thing.

It's also fake, that's a printed font, not handwritten, made to give people a sense of personal attention and urgency.

IIRC cursive isn't being taught anymore. I am old enough to where it was still a mainstream thing, and I looked forward to learning it - I wanted to learn something intricate and mature like that. Even now, if I take time with it, I can produce elaborate script handwriting, and I sign documents like someone a few generations before me.

Not saying much, as the MB and BMW "coupe" CUVs are unpretty, to put it nicely. The Volvo isn't a show winner either, but it might be less blobby.

Like the Volvo also and looks like the size would be perfect for my needs. A neighbor a few houses down has the new XC40 in white and I'm liking it. Think it's just over 174" so might just fit on my side of the garage. But really thinking seriously about going EV with my next vehicle. I'm really a perfect candidate with the low amount of miles that I drive now. And I'm in no hurry at this point to dump the VW, meaning I can wait a year or two so there will be more product to choose from. Have a strong feeling that I'll still be under 3K of miles for the current year. A 2023 or 2024 model could definitely work though think I'd want one by the end of 2022 if possible.
Was down in Miami yesterday delivering a Highlander to a Chevy store and petrol prices were close to $2.99/gallon of regular. Right outside of MIA, saw it going for $3.99/gallon of regular which I found obscene really yet there were folks filling their rental vehicles! Just a block down, it was a buck cheaper...couldn't believe it honestly!

Got to drive a 2019 Toyota Highlander yesterday and was very impressed with it. Reminded me of the Rav4 which I love to be honest. The Highlander drove just as nice and also had spot on ergonomics to be honest. I've always been a Toyota fan and would be quite happy owning another one someday to be honest. And the Corolla hatchback is still at the top of my short list. Would be like going full circle ending up with another Toyota product. So we shall see as it could be a reality someday soon.

The current RAV4 Prime seems to be similar to the 2006-ish RAV4 V6 (RAV6?)... Very fast, but more horsepower than the chassis, suspension, and tires can handle.

Correct in that it is not saying much. However, it is also possible to get the fancy suspension, which mine does not have, of course. The magneride from GM is a wonderful thing and would make a world of difference, surely.

Just found instructions on how to fix the seat recline (involves removing the seat and drilling out metal travel limiters from the factory), which I will likely do since I have to live with the car for 6 mos.

The Charger has a longer wheelbase, yes? That might account for some of the ride quality differences. That, plus its weight.

The power is just ridiculous. More than just 0-60 can tell you. The passing power is unreal. Transmission is quite good, and I always appreciate a manual mode that allows bouncing off the limiter.

Head unit is very good. I love the wireless carplay, the responsiveness, the sound quality, etc. I don’t love not being able to surf channels via the steering wheel. It will only skip through your programmed faves (which I have yet to program).

I think that is about where the positives end.

Storage is nonexistent. Does not even have decent door pockets. I got 2 cupholders. That’s it. If the front 2 people each have a drink, there is no place for my phone. I can lay it next to the shifter, but then it is on the floor the first time I stab the go pedal.

Driver’s seat is not friendly toward my back. No lumbar support, and the recline is limited. Who does that? I have never been in a car where the recline is limited by travel rather than a bulkhead or the backseat.

It is rather crashy and boomy over bad pavement. Sometimes sounds/feels like stereotypical GM quality.

Given the choice, I’d still take my Charger for practicality, livability, and comfort. Only if flat out being a hooligan is the Camaro a better choice.
No lumbar support? I’ve seen them have separate buttons near the seat controls and some have a lever on the right side of the driver’s seat. That’s pretty crude on a 2021.

I absolutely agree about the Charger being more practical. That’s one of the few sedans that feels like a full sized car with good visibility.

Q, you mentioned "6 months"...why is that? Are you planning on getting out before the contractual time period ends? Have driven a few over the years at work and they are fun but not sure I'd like one as my d d. My son-in-law has his second, a 2021 I think, a very nice blue with silver stripes he special ordered from the factory. It's an "RS" and has the black bow ties on the front and rear, that's about all I know. He got my daughter into a top of the line 2019 Cruze, again with the "RS" badging and the black bow ties which she likes a whole lot. Have driven hers a couple of times and it really is a nice cruiser to be honest. I would've preferred the hatchback but she found it a bit too cramped for her needs. A shame GM decided to cancel it in their line-up as it's one of their products I was truly interested in. The second is the Bolt, the newer model that's due out before years end.

Ugh. 15” so far, and that was as of a couple hours ago. Blizzard warning until midnight. Have not seen a plow on our street yet.

Shoveled / snow blow the driveway twice today. Hate to think what it looks like now. My body is sore already.

Update - just had to shovel a path in the backyard for the doxies. 2-3 foot drifts back there.

Fair bit of info available with some googling and a manheim listing. Unfortunately, not graded at Manheim and didn’t sell through there. But it is an OH title at a FL dealer. States the front bumper has been painted and is “acceptable.” Tires are all mid-life. Dealer listed it on Ebay a month ago for $47k. Approx auction value, depending on that bumper, is just south of $40k.
