Tonight I took a few minutes at the Jeep dealership to check out and test drive the 2021 Grand Cherokee L. I called, set up and appointment, met with the sales guy. I’m asking him questions about the Altitude model which he proceeds to tell me is the “top of the line.” 2 other sales guys look up and say in unison: “Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland.” They had a good laugh. The guy started last week. Came from selling nissans and chevrolets. I asked about the different 4WD systems. The Laredo and Altitude have a very basic AWD system with what seems to be RWD biased with an open center differential. The Limited and Overland have a more sophisticated 4WD system that is always engaged, but has a “normal, snow, sport, & rock/mud” toggle switch. They acknowledged that programs for the Laredo & Altitude are stronger.
I took a brief test drive because traffic getting there was terrible and I had to pick up my 12 year old from hockey practice. Beautifully finished interior, strong V6 engine, excellent feedback from the steering rack. Smooth ride, & it handled well. Sharp looking SUV.
I told the guy I will build an Altitude and a Limited to send him the specs of what I want. He’ll get back to me with a price and check stock. Will also let me know about ordering a vehicle.
They had a very nice white over gray when I took delivery of the 4xe, aka El Jepe. I’m very impressed at how upscale the interior is.
Here’s hoping your 4xe is good to go.

Makes me think of when I last visited the MB dealer and mentioned my residual is 45K, was told you won't find a 19 E450 with under 20K on it like my car for anywhere near that. Scary that the Corolla is less than 20K more (and I assume at or above original MSRP)
I actually like that. Probably not very common. But, that price. Seems like something that pre-shortages, would maybe be $18,995 and I would wonder if it was worth paying that much. I assume the original MSRP was maybe $25k? So fix the typo on the first digit, and I would consider it!
but hard to justify buying that instead of a brand new Si for about the same price. Or a few grand more for a Civic hatch 6 speed sport touring.
EDIT: just saw that it is actually a CVT Makes the situation even worse. compare that to a Civic EX CVT for less money.
That C70 price will go up. This isn't a four figure car. Especially in this market. Still, this is only the second C70 manual I've ever seen. And this one is a better color combo. Would anyone feel bad paying $10-11K for this? I wouldn't - what are the alternatives?
oh, if I really wanted to invest in something like this, I would absolutely go for this one. You want the cleanest, best maintained, in the wrapper one you can find. I from the pictures, miles and history, and rep of the seller, I would bet this is it.
so paying a few grand more up front, will probably end up a lot cheaper after you have to take care of the needs any old car has.
I don't know; maybe it's the photos or just my eyes, but the front and rear bumper shells on that C70 don't look right at all. As such, it could be the "minor" accident history that is suppressing bidders' enthusiasm for it.

I really can't believe I still don't have a Mach E. This is nuts to me. There is stock, I'm not trying to get money off, so WTH?! It is just a total lack of communication from dealers. The only one who was anxious to follow up with me doesn't have any.

Took the Outback in for some deferred maintenance and service. Turns out it needed a few more things than I budgeted for, but oh well --- still less than (several) car payments.
The best thing is, the shop that did the work has a warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes last. Given that we're averaging 6-7K a year on it now, that warranty is good for 5 or 6 years.
Of course, this has me looking a new (used) cars - right now my focus is on the X3 M40i, SQ5 or GLC43, all of which can be had in the mid to upper $40's around town.
Any opinions on these? I know @breld has owned 2 of the three (and, they had two GLC300's).
looks like I know what I am getting for Christmas. Got an update Email today from Ford saying my 1st Maverick order has been built. Undergoing final inspections and waiting for shipping. Estimated arrival at dealer is 12/23-12/29. If it all times out right the week after Christmas when we get back home but are still off work we can go over to check it out and decide on buying it.
would be nice to have some update on timing for the Hybrid I ordered too, but I don't expect that to be built until probably April range so not likely to get a build date on that until February or so.

Happy Turkey Day folks!! Dreary and humid down here in South Florida. Just the two of us as our daughter in Miami has to work at the hospital today. Would've gone up to Orlando but I've got to work tomorrow. And of course, going to Chicago wasn't going to work. Hoping to drive up there sometime in 2022 as am anxious to see the kids new house. Luckily we have FaceTime so we can all check in later. This is the one holiday I do miss not having everyone together.

if you see it post a link. I like those. But the prices on "collectibles" now is just taking me out of the market.
Boss gave us $15 gift cards for Dunkin' Donuts yesterday, a very nice gesture I thought. Enterprise is a very good company to work for from what I've seen. December 3rd will start my 3rd year working there and couldn't be happier to be honest. Being a part time employee, never expected to get a 401K or profit sharing but they offer it to us, Hertz basically gave us crap! Most of my co-workers seem very happy working there and I now get why some have been there 20 + years!
Still very happy that I left that shuttle job I had for five months. Discovered I'd rather not work with the public, working behind the scenes is so much better & less stressful. Can see myself staying at Enterprise for many years even if we do end up moving to the Orlando area. We have a couple drivers who summer up north and work for Enterprise where they go. Makes sense really as it is the same company, just a different location. Really thought I'd retire again when I reach 70 but have decided to just see how things go. No sense making plans for the future as we don't know what that future will be. Think it best to just take life one day at a time right now. Still haven't heard if our one daughter is going to transfer up to Orlando or closer to us. Figure by February, she'll know what's next for her. Then, we can make our plans if need be.

Happy thanksgiving to everyone & your families! We are hosting again this year. While it is a lot of prep work & clean up, I much prefer it to sitting in traffic for 1 1/2 - 2 hours each way to what is normally an hour-ish to get either to my parents or my in laws. Plus my wife and I both have to work tomorrow so we get to spend a little time at home. My wife and I each got to ride the Peloton.

I understand deep fried turkey is great but the one time I had it I didn’t like it at all. My nieces husband destroyed it and worse yet by the time he used a dull knife to cut it it was more like pulled turkey. I should have known an auto body guy didn’t know anything about cooking. And my niece doesn’t even know how to use a can opener so no help there either. Worst Thanksgiving meal I ever had. Never going back there again I can tell you that and Mrs. j knows it. In fact, I’ve told her to have a few excuses ready just in case we’re ever invited again. Please car gods, don’t do that to me again.

Neighbor down the street had an afternoon party, a few years ago. Deep frying a turkey. Went awry and the vat tipped over on his deck, which started smoldering.
Soon after, we needed to go home to check on something... thanks for the party! lol
I think I’ve heard of more fried turkey fail stories than successes. My BIL is an exception and his fried turkeys are delicious. I hope everyone is having a safe, fattening and Happy Thanksgiving.

I like the outcome of deep frying a turkey (usually), but I do NOT like the mess of it. Of course, the only time I ever take it on is when I have a turkey that's too big for the oven (which means it is also too big for the fryer... technically), so that probably has something to do with it. Thankfully, since my place is pretty rustic anyway, I can usually just ignore much of the mess and let nature/time clean it up for me.
