Well friends…Porsche fever is contagious. What started out as a half-joke this morning turned into the wife and I keeping our Saturday morning appointment at the Porsche dealer that had the base Cayman. She’s actually been keen on a Cayman for a while now, and this one hit her notes, being a base one with a manual.
They have to finish the CPO process, but this will be joining the 911 in the garage next week.
Make sure that the clutch is working properly😎
I’m surprised that she went for a non S, but this leaves the door open for a trade
So nothing is being traded in. We’ll up the count in the garage to 5. She’ll have her Audi A6 Allroad, the GV60 and now the Cayman. I have to make do with just 2…the Q8 E-Tron and 911.
That still leaves a space (and then some) for a kid returning for breaks from college.

Car dealers are closed on Sunday in Colorado.
I suppose he could drive 2 hours north to Cheyenne, but I doubt the dealers there have anything he wants.
Every time I think they have the perfect fleet, something gets traded out….
I first met @breld after he traded in a 5 series for a Mazda 3 HB (with a stick).
I really will stop at the Porsche dealer one day and make the wife go test sit a couple. Sometimes she humors me, and usually we stop at a brewery afterwards as a reward. Sadly I think the only one she will be happier with getting in and out will be a Macan. No point in getting one of those. I actually wonder if she would like one of the Kia EVs? A WRX, but not getting a CVT in a sports car.
probably the best bet is a BMW sedan. I know she likes those!

We went to an event that was given by one of the places my wife works at. She was invited as staff were all asked to come. It was a dress up thing which meant wearing a shirt & tie...something I never ever do. Heck, the last time I did this was at our sons wedding in October of 2017. But to please my wife, I went even though she knew I hate these kind of things. Decided on no tie and luckily, I was not the only one. Was a bit disappointed in the food served but guess that kind of stuff happens. It started late, like 7 pm and we left by 10:30 or so. Funny thing is, I'm never up at that time as my meds usually have me in bed around 9, give or take. Driving home on the turnpike, noticed a couple of things. Lots of folks were out at that time, and I mean lots. Maybe I'm getting old! But more importantly, noticed that I don't like driving at night anymore. Sure, I could see just fine but felt uncomfortable...just felt uncomfortable. Again, maybe age has something to do with it because I'm so used to being in bed somewhat early. Luckily, we don't go out much at night anymore which maybe ain't such a bad thing. Learning to live within my limitations which is fine with me!

I just got off the phone with SiriusXM to cancel the subscription on the Corvette.
They answered promptly, processed the cancelation with no issues, and didn't even ask if there was a new vehicle that they could transfer the service to. It all took about 2-3 minutes.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they now allow cancellations via the chat function on their website. I never gave them any payment info on the Ariya, so it will expire once the free trial is up.
They also gave me the lowest price without having to cancel first. Are they now acting like a real business instead of a [non-permissible content removed] factory? It would be nice because we like Sirius music channels.
$4 / month is the lowest they kept pestering me offering at SiriusXM. It is still tempting at times. But I have a CD with mp3's and I have 16 GB USB plugged in.
The salesperson from the dealership I first visited on Friday called today to follow up. They’re the ones with the nice silver over red Cayman S, but they were a little low on the trade offer for the Vette.
He started out by saying, “you mentioned you were going to look at two other Porsches…how did that go?”

Agreed... Even if you had no options other than buying at the higher priced dealer, I'd still call it a win, because it's what had to happen to get rid of the lemon Q7.
I did actually contact brokers for LH. They had discounts on gassers but no discount on hybrid RX 350h. I would have had to pay the broker fee which would have made it an over MSRP deal and had it shipped from East coast.
I bought this one near South Bend. Dealership was a Sonic dealership - one price except I did get them to throw in the all weather mats and the all weather cargo mat too.

Hoovie's latest Park Avenue Ultra is on C&B. $10,100 is the current bid with four days left. I guess this is about as clean as you can find one of these anymore, but $10k seems like a lot considering its age, plus the tire date codes appear to be the 41st week of 2015, so they'd need to be replaced in order for this to be a highway cruiser. I never noticed the ugly sticker on the front bumper, plus there is residue from a couple that have been removed from the rear bumper.
The interiors on these didn't hold up very well, even if you took care of them. The power door lock button falling into the door (as we see on the passenger door of this one) is a common problem, as is the dye coming off the leather.
...plus the tire date codes appear to be the 41st week of 2015, so they'd need to be replaced in order for this to be a highway cruiser. ...
The tires are Michelin and don't show signs of cracking or dry rot otherwise. Do I recall that Michelin had said 10 years. But they wanted inspections after 5 years. E.g., my Goodyear tires have been garaged out of sunlight for their 9 years and show no signs of deterioration. My Chev dealer checked them when they balanced them 4 months ago. But at 10 years I have replacements in mind.
I kind of like it. I'm going to be in the market for an interesting beater soon. If the time were right, I could see myself biting on this.
Expensive beater. It sold for $27,000
Yeah, it wasn't anywhere near that when I last looked, but I know the price tends to escalate quickly during the last few minutes of the auction. That's as expensive as my "nice" car was when I bought it in April!

To me the interior looks about as I would expect. What IS MISSING is pictures of the underneath taken on a lift with good lighting. The attachment points for the engine cradle to the unibody has 6 big donuts of rubber that isolate the frame. These often held salt or dirt and corroded. In salt road areas, these became failure points if the car wasn't washed regularly. Also there are problems with the cradles for the rear spring seats doing the same thing. Kansas has salt on roads I assume...
good thing with that car though is you can pull up a video from when he got it and the Car Wizard had it up on the lift doing an inspection, and see everything you want. They would have addressed anything like that anyway.
The Nissan dealer re-sent the Ariya registration to the county clerk. Today, I got an envelope from the clerk’s office with:
1. A photocopy of the manufacturer’s certificate of origin, with a multicolored stamp from the clerk’s office, and someone’s initials signed on the stamp.
2. A yellow sheet of paper with a list of requirements for registering out of state vehicles.
I’m assuming this cryptic response means they rejected it again and sent the original paperwork back to the dealer. I’m going to call the dealer Monday to give it time to make it through the mail back to them in Nashville.

This was after a back and forth with me insisting on making a "one time" offer. The dealership likes to grind, and wanted me to "up" my offer.
"I can't buy and sell your car at the same time. Show me an offer that doesn't make me want to go to another dealership and we'll make a deal".
I don't know how much easier it could have been for them, but they kept to their script and wanted me to throw more numbers at them.
I left the dealership with no less than 6 or 7 more phone calls from them wanting me to come back stating they would accept my original offer.
It seems worn out.
