This is my first lease and was wondering if once the 2018 A4 models come out, will the leases on 2017's be cheaper? Discounts/MF/ anything?

It's hard to know what might happen.

I have a general, odd lease question: let's say that you got a good deal for $500/month. (The money factor, residual value, selling price, etc. were all vetted by the forum and $500 is the best any buyer could get for a particular model.) But you waited too long and now the money factor went up or residual changed or whatever; regardless the dealer wants your business so he plays around with the numbers and is able to get you the same monthly payment of $500. (Same lease length and yearly mileage.)

This would still be considered the same/good deal, right? I'm assuming any changes made could only affect you if you were planning to buy the car at the end?

Yes.. if the lease variables moved against you, and the dealer lowered the price to get you the same payment, then it's still a good deal.

I'm in CT and was given these numbers by a dealer.

    MSRP, $48,830
    Discount off MSRP - 11%
    MF - 0.00045
    Residual - 55%

I want prepaid maintenance so that should bump up cost slightly as well as residual.

$1000 drive off for small portion of fee's as well as first months payment.

Monthly payment - $526 tax included.

Is this accurate? If so, what can I try to negotiate to get under $500/mo? The dealers are being very cooperative with the MSRP discount as of now.

The money factor and residual are correct assuming 36/12.

I get $492/mo.+tax, assuming 89% of MSRP is the adjusted CAP cost. Though, it seems the CAP cost would be higher than that, since only $1000 upfront.

Ask for the adjusted CAP cost, and see how it differs from $43,460. That way, no guessing required.
Prepaid maintenance should add about $12/mo.

You want $500/mo. with $1000 due at signing? Ask for it.

Thank you for the reply! So if you were to buy the car at the end, I assume the only value that you'd have to watch out for (at the beginning) is the residual percentage?

Could I please get the MF and Residual at 36/10 on A4 Quattro P+ and Prestige in Massachusetts?

Are there any additional incentives/rebates being offered currently? I am also returning a 2014 S4 lease, and my understanding is that I might qualify for a rebate in addition to them waiving the disposition fee on the current car.

Thanks in advance for this information!

Thank you. In a one-pay lease is the MF calculated on the sales price or the residual value? How would I do that calculation (e.g. MF x 2400 x 3 years x residual value)? Since the MF for all leases is pretty low, is the de facto MF on any one-pay lease the minimum .00005?

Yes, the one-pay lease MF on the models you are interested in would be .00005
    .
How much does the MF increase on a one-pay lease for lower tier credit? Does it go up, depending on the tier (e.g. tier 3, 4, 5)? I'm buying an ultra P+

Thank you for the quick response - this is very helpful as I begin discussing the numbers with the dealer.

One question I had was around the residuals: why is the residual for Prestige so low compared to Premium Plus?

Higher trim levels - with more standard equipment that is likely to be obsolete by the end of the lease - will have lower residuals. This is true for many brands.

Thanks. What percent off MSRP is considered a good deal on a Quattro Premium Plus? I currently lease an Audi that I will be turning in. Are there loyalty or other incentives that I should be aware of?

Yes, but the state and the city collect it differently. State collects their tax up front, while the city taxes the monthly payment.

Thank you. A dealer in MD quoted me a deal using a money factor of .00125. (I have a FICO score of 790)
When I asked him why he had done that, this is what he said:

"Buy rate for the money factor is .00045 for A tier you are correct. Given that we are a for profit company and you are getting below invoice pricing on this A4 plus pull ahead, increasing the money factor 80 points is how we are able to make some money on this transaction."

Can dealers change the MF as they please?

Dealer can mark up the MF for more profit.

We are seeing more of this - either you get a big discount on the price and a marked up MF, or you can have the base MF but a smaller discount. You'd have to run the numbers to see which results in a better payment.

Ideally, you'll find a dealer who is willing to give you both. Keep reaching out to dealers; only takes one to meet your numbers.

I'm looking at an A4 Quattro in Ohio. Premium Plus for 36/12. They are at $615 with $1000 out of pocket. Can I do better? Is this a good deal?

    MSRP $49125
Sale Price $$46000 plus another $1000 in incentives

MF of .00045 Residual at 55%

Using $45K as the cap cost, I get $532/mo before tax.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost, and make sure you understand how they got to that number from the selling price. Ohio taxes the sum of the payments and collects that money up front. $1000 isn't enough to cover the first payment + the taxes and fees, so some of it is added in to the cap cost.

I went back and asked them for details and to sharpen their quote. this is the latest. $579 a month with $1500 out of pocket.
    Look good?
The math on the worksheet is correct, but we'd suggest limiting your out of pocket to just the first payment and DMV costs.

Appreciate the feedback. Do they have room to absorb the out of pocket or are you saying I should accept a little more on the payment?

The payment will go up if you add those fees into the cap cost.

Now at $585 with $1000 out of pocket. Good deal?  They came down another $300.

I would only pay upfront the first month and the DMV fees.

What is the adjusted cap cost? Quoting you a payment means they might have jacked up the MF as well.

    Hello:

    Got the below offer for a 2017 A4 P+:

    MSRP: 49125
    Selling Price: 45300
    Loyalty Credit: 750
    Residual: 56%
    MF: 0.00065
    Term: 36M/10K

With 0 down and acquisition fee paid upfront the monthly payment (incl. MA tax) is $565. They also agreed to pay the last month payment for my current S4 lease ($455).

Thoughts? Could I do better somehow?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

    I'll assume Quattro.

MF is marked up - .00045 is the base rate.

What is the adjusted cap cost?

$0 down or $0 out of pocket?
